Absolutely fantastic! We had 14 of our oldest friends fly in and from start to finish the rental of a huge almost brand new van was flawless! The quality and cleanliness of the van was exactly what we hoped for. The check-in process was simple and compared to the other large van rentals was very affordable! We had the van for 3 days and it accommodated all of us plus their luggage! Turning it back in was even easier! Just dropped it off and walked away! Simple! We rented a van for two days, and we waited for about 30 min at the airport shuttle stop before we called AVR to ask where the shuttle was. No one at AVR told us you need to call to request a shuttle to pick you up, and it takes about 20 min each way between the airport and the AVR office. It took about 30 min per customer at the desk to be processed to get their car, and there's only one employee at a time. Our van smelled like livestock, had expired registration/tags, the horn didn't work, and it was missing a knob on the AC. The back seat also did not fold down to store luggage, which you would assume some people would have if you're renting a 10 person van from an airport rental service. If you're thinking about renting a car here, don't. But if you must, take PLENTY of photos of the van just in case. Go with a legit rental company that doesn't have a 2 star review on Yelp. Also, maybe not as big of an issue, but there was no soap in the restrooms both days we were at the AVR office and used them. Hopefully the sanitation of their rental vans doesn't reflect the sanitation of their restroom. One pro: the shuttle driver John was a great guy and provided the best (and really only) customer service at AVR. read more

Booked at the beginning of November for a December 26th rental, even paid in advance, and was notified after they were closed on Christmas Eve that they probably didn't have a van for us after all. Not like you can get ahold of anyone on Christmas right? Arrive here, and the absolute rudest counter clerk was here. When we asked about how they let others extend rentals even though they were committed said basically not our problem. Also, because we went through a 3rd party to rent, that somehow makes it not their fault?! How do you not know what inventory you have available? Oh wait, she said that person doesn't keep it up to date. Eventually " found" us a van.... Even though there are 5 in the parking lot? Did I mention that the shuttle from the airport was not ADA accessible? Good thing that we had people with us to lift my SIL into the shuttle or we would have been screwed. Mother lord of holy baby Jesus! I wish I would've just kept my original booking with another company. Yes this rental saved me $20 but you will pay for it in your time and sanity. Not only did I have to wait for over an hour for them to give me a car due to lack of staff and the sluggish pace they were going at, but the return process was horrible. Upon returning and driving to AVR, the automated messages told me they were closed and the instructions to return it was not clear. It told me to just to drive to this airport parking lot and park it there. I scrambled to write down and follow the instructions. When I get to the airport parking area, the employees tell me AVR doesn't work with them anymore. I tried calling AVR with the 3-4 different numbers I was provided and no one picked up, I was unable to leave voicemail about the car rental, but I was able to leave a message at the main line. I eventually told the staff my situation and begged them to let the rental company handle this since I am just following murky outdated instructions and I was going to miss my flight with the issues I encountered. The parking lot staff compiled and advised me to take pictures and videos since AVR has been a hot mess to work with. I didn't get a message back until the next day and I was charged extra for something random. At this point I just called my credit card company and let them handle the discrepancy. Price was 50% of the big boys, they picked us up at the airport, and they were very efficient. The vehicle was a dump with over 100,000 miles, and need of new shocks. With the mountain roads in Colorado, I felt like I was going to bounce off the highway. Interior windshield needed to be cleaned. As soon as the sun hit us, I was blind. There were several dents and scratches, but they were very good about documenting the previous damage, and there were no issues when we returned the vehicle. read more

Wow - worst experience ever. I rented a car that ended up having a totally flat tire, bad windshield wipers, and no washer fluid. Stains all over the ceiling...and customer service was ridiculously bad. I pulled out of parking lot and car was swerving so hard, I turned around immediately and they had already closed up and left, even though they saw me driving back into the parking lot. Car was on empty when we picked it up--of course we were expected to return it on full. There was a tiny chip on the windshield that was possibly there when we picked it up, but there would've been no way of knowing (they admitted to us that it was probably there before but they didn't charge the previous drivers). We were told to give our insurance information (which we already gave) or our card would be charged to replace the windshield. The entire windshield. The most suspicious part of this story is that it took the AVR employee about 5 seconds to spot it, and she didn't even look at the rest of the car. So, she either has the sharpest eye of all time (spotted this tiny nick even though the car was covered in snow and wet drops were everywhere), or she knew it was there before we pulled in. It was questionable at best. It's a sketchy car rental place miles from the airport, so it was cheaper than other options, so I guess they're making up for it through cheap replacements and small scams. Had to provide time/date stamped pictures to prove I picked up and returned with a 1/4 tank of gas. Office is closed at 5 pm, had to return car to another car park facility down the road. Returned it early, took 3 days of calling to finally get someone on the phone to talk about my refund. Phone support is basically nonexistent. Left so many messages, no one called back. SCAMMERS/FRAUDULENT This company is awful. They do not care about the customer one bit. We were on our way to the airport when we received a text that they were out of cars and cancelling our reservation which was booked 3 months prior. Once we landed, we then received a text stating they were able to get a vehicle but the shuttle was down and we had to Uber to the off site location. We arrived to get our vehicle which was dirty. The rep also informed us that the past client complained about a low tire pressure but that it was just an error and not to worry. We stayed in Golden the first two nights to see a concert so we had only driven the car that day, it stayed in the hotel lot. The day we were heading up the mountain we felt that it felt off. We stopped and got a car wash and checked the tires. We had to buy a pressure gauge because they did not supply one in the car. Well let me tell you...two of the tires were at 48, one was at 28, and another was at 15. That's a serious issue. We could have blown out the overinflated tires or had one become completely flat. I tried calling with zero answer. Come to find out they are only open until noon on the weekends so we couldn't speak with anyone or swap it out. We decided to continue on as the tires were now all at the same pressure. We stopped along the way to check and make sure that they were holding. The low pressure tire was low again so we topped it off. We stayed in Breckenridge so we did not use the car from Saturday to Tuesday when we returned. However, my husband did make sure to check the pressure and fill it. On our way back to Denver we had to stop and fill the tire which is not a situation that is ideal or that we should have to do when renting a vehicle. We returned the vehicle in the same condition but cleaner and explained that the so called tire that was not leaky in fact was. The beyond rude associate asked me if I checked for a nail or took it to a tire shop to check. I was baffled and snapped back. We had to get on the shuttle because the ride man driving would not wait and we had to catch our flight. My mistake was not taking pictures of the vehicle on return. The company sent me my receipt copy via email and did refund our damage deposit. However, today, July 30th, I received an email from my insurance company regarding a claim for an accident on a vehicle I don't own. I called to question the claim and found out that this company, AVR Denver filed a fraudulent claim against me. They were claiming damage to the windshield which there was zero damage to anything. I believe that they monitor people's coverages and create fraudulent insurance claims since the customers have no deductible on them and most insurance companies just payout. I told my insurance to not cover it as they were planning to do. I tried to contact the company and was told the manager was not available. I asked for a name and was told they cannot provide it. I informed them that I would call back. I also informed them that I would be calling the police, attorneys general, and BBB for insurance fraud. The girl hung up on me. This is a company built on scams and fraudulent practices. Stay away from them. BTW the car we rented was a 2022 Chevy Equinox. We rented it 7/4/24-7/9/24. They didn't have our reservation that we made a month in advance. Left our family which includes a 5-month-old and 4-year-old in the cold airport arrivals area for over 2 hours. After arguing with them they finally picked me up and decided to give us 2 SUVs instead of the 15-passenger van we reserved a month ago. Both SUVs were in poor condition but we had no choice since it was President's day weekend and no other company had vehicles available. We pre-paid for the reservation and the cost of the 2 SUVs was less than the pre-paid amount. The associate at the AVR front desk told us that we would be refunded the difference. I tried contacting the company several times for the refund and each time I was told they would create a ticket and call me back with a resolution. I never received a call and on my final attempt to call them, they told me that they will not be refunding the difference but would offer me a 15% discount on a future rental. After the awful experience I had dealing with them, they had the audacity to think I would rent from them ever again. I do not recommend anyone use this company as they are unreliable and lack basic customer service principles. You will either lose money, have a bad experience, or in my case, both. read more

My wife reserved a vehicle well in advance of our trip to Denver. When we arrived we called the rental place and they let us know that a shuttle would be arriving shortly. About ten minutes later one pulled up. We loaded all of our luggage, our two kids and ourselves into the shuttle (with a lot of assistance from the driver). When we arrived at the AVR rental location, my wife went inside and dealt with the rental while I stayed outside with the kids. After about fifteen minutes we were led to a vehicle. When we opened it we were hit with a strong smell of smoke. My wife, who has a very sensitive nose and an aversion to smoke, immediately said that this vehicle would not work. The customer service employees were very accommodating and got us another SUV within minutes. When we returned the vehicle, drop off was very easy, and there were no hidden charges, waiting or hassling (which we have come to expect from rental car places). The four of us were loaded into a shuttle and taken back to the airport well ahead of our scheduled departure. Logging on to Yelp after our trip, I was shocked to find so many negative reviews. While AVR certainly wasn't anything special when it comes to vehicle rental, it also wasn't the worst experience we've ever had. In fact, it was far from it. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE - DO NOT USE! Terrible customer service. Impossible to reach an actual person. Hours of operation are not clear and even during their "normal" business hours there is no way to reach an actual person. I do not recommend this company. The details: Our connecting flight was delayed which made us a day late for our rental. I tried calling the company to make sure we would still have our rental the following morning when we were due to arrive. I left a voicemail since there wasn't anyone to answer the phone. The next morning, I called first thing and also received the option to leave a message. Since I had done that the night before, I opted to send an email to make sure we had something in writing. At this point I was getting nervous that we wouldn't have a vehicle upon arrival. I called back a few times and was advised by the recording that there was "1" caller ahead of us. Finally, I thought - I would have a chance to speak with a real person and explain our situation and hopefully confirm our rental. After 55 minutes of holding (I have the screen shots!) I finally decided to rent with a different company. We paid much more than we needed to but we were stuck at that point. After a 10 day family vacation I forgot about the experience until we got home and I was catching up on emails and found the confirmation from them. There was never a call back or a return email from my attempts to reach them over 10 days ago. All that to say - I can not recommend this company. Avoid! This was the most difficult and time consuming reservation I have ever had. Not to mention that the cars were filthy, and smelled like cigarettes and weed. I guess this is what happens when you try to save a buck. I made the reservation through Priceline because the price wasn't bad. When I arrived at the airport, we quickly headed to the shuttle van area and just missed our ride. Approximately 30 minutes later and after a phone call, the van showed up. However it was packed and only 3 seats were available. We were a party of four. Fortunately we were able to squeeze in but the group behind us was unable to climb aboard. AVR uses proper passenger vans to transport renters. They are not like Avis, Enterprise, and other major rental car companies that use shuttles for more than 10 passengers. We arrived at the counter after a 15 minute ride from the airport. If you're keepin count we are now ~45 mins. Got to the counter and provided my name. The employee began the rental process. It was pretty standard aside from ALL the questions that she asked about insurance coverage and extras. It made the check in WAY LONGER than needed. To top it off, she handed me a clip board and told me to go outside and conduct an inspection of the car. WTF?! She put me to work!! So I proceeded with the inspection and the car was in terrible condition. It had major debts and scratches throughout the body. The interior was FILTHY!!! I understand not being able to vacuum some lint and dust but this was straight up mud and dirty footprints on the seats. The Coup de grâce was the stench of weed that permeated the interior. It was unbearable. So unbearable that's went back on and asked for a different car. They gave me another but it had the same issues. However instead of weed the stench was cigarettes. By this time we're more than an hour at the rental office. THis was just the pick up. The drop off was another awful experience. Apparently they close the return office and you have to drop the cars off at an after hours location across the street. Ugh!! Once you drive around aimlessly and figure out the drop office protocol you have one more task requested by your new employer. You have to call into the off hours phone lIne and leave them directions to exactly where you parked. Avoid at all costs!!!! read more

I've seen some very critical reviews about this company, and I will admit I did not review this company before booking with them. My wife and I booked AVR through Priceline the day before our trip because the much cheaper price compared to others was appealing. This was our first time to Denver International, and finding the location to get to AVR's shuttle that takes you to their rental office wasn't too difficult to figure out. We waited for their shuttle to arrive for about 5 minutes, so no issues there. Their office where you actually take possession of the rental vehicle is not on airport property and somewhat out of the way in a desolate area (not a huge deal, but could be for some I suppose). What cost them a star is that these guys are IMPOSSIBLE to get ahold of if you need them. My son left his backpack in their shuttle (no fault of this company's) and my wife called over 15 times (3 different numbers, including the roadside assistance number when we were getting desperate) and nobody would answer. They finally called 5 days later saying they had his bag and found it the day he left it there, but were too busy and understaffed to call us. We're grateful they had the bag, because I understand they're not responsible at all for it, don't get me wrong, but a quick 15 second phone call back could have saved us 5 days of worrying. I'd hate to have rental break down with these guys, you'll never be able to contact them for help. What cost them another two stars was their contract is somewhat shady and concerning. According to the contract, if any damage is done to the vehicle (including engine breakdowns that are out of your control), the RENTER, YOU, is responsible for all repairs! Any other rental agency I've experienced, if you have a breakdown, they'll call you a tow and you'll get another rental, end of story.. But it wouldn't matter anyway because as I mentioned these guys don't answer their roadside assistance number. And if you drop the vehicle off after office hours, you must drop it off in a pay-to-use lot out of the way, and even though they state that your contract is CLOSED as soon as you take a parking lot ticket, you're STILL responsible for any and all damages to the vehicle should they happen, even though through their own admission, the contract is closed and fulfilled. How does that make sense?? Also, they'll take $20 from your security deposit for using this lot, which, depending on your flight time, you may be forced to use. Fortunately the rental car itself was fine, as it got us from A to B, but I will say it wasn't clean when we received it. The service of having a reliable rental vehicle was provided to us and we're satisfied as far as that goes, which is why I think our experience is worthy of a two star rating, but based on their sketchy contract agreements and being impossible to get ahold of, I doubt we'll use them again. Personally I think I'll spend a bit more to have the piece of mind knowing the company I'm renting from is a phone call away should I have any issues. **DO NOT RENT FROM HERE** The phone rings and rings and rings, and no one ever answers. If someone does answer the phone it becomes a blame game and you'll get transferred between several people. We were stuck in Breckenridge with a van that wouldn't start. We called to get help and were told that "someone would be sent out to get the van and take it to get checked". We asked if a replacement vehicle would be delivered and were told it would not. So, we are in Breckenridge without a van, no replacement vehicle and we were still going to have to pay for the rental even though we wouldn't have a vehicle while the van we rented was being "looked at". Then, the woman on the phone kept telling my husband it was the battery and that they would replace the battery. My husband explained it was NOT the battery and that it clearly had something to do with the push button start. My husband went round and round until finally he said "forget it" and we called our personal insurance company, who came and gave us roadside assistance. Then, on the day we were driving back to the airport we got stuck coming down the mountain. The roads were horrific, icy and cars everywhere trying to stay on the road. We slid everywhere!! The tires were so bad and had no tread. We were all terrified. By the time we got to return the van, the crew there was oblivious to any sort of customer service or urgency. We almost missed our flight home because we waited forever for a shuttle back to the airport. If I could give negative stars, I would. This place is HORRIBLE!!! read more

Off Airport / Clueless An out of the way, off-airport service that probably won't be around long. I rented because they had the lowest price on a Sante Fe. They seem to have mostly larger vans (as their name implies). I was offered a Jeep Wrangler that they said was comparable to the Sanet Fe. Not very useful for taking clients out, but they insisted they had nothing else, and it was 'comperable'. The staff was friendly but clueless and seemed to have virtually no experience at renting vehicles. I got back early, before 8 am only to find a sign that they were closed and to park at the park and ride Nextdoor. Oh, and for only $25 extra. Additionally, the Jeep only had a quarter tank of gas and you were to bring it back the same or pay a ridiculous fee. So, had to find a gas station within the first hour. All in all a really poor experience, even for the price. I won't use them again, period. read more

Don't rent if you don't have to! We waited for almost 1.5 hours in line to rent the car. When we got our car, it had just been returned from other renters and had not been cleaned. It was horribly gross. It was the only car they had for us. No apology for the poor service or for the uncleaned car. One really really important thing to know about AVR if you must use their services: DO NOT INCUR TOLLS or PARKING CITATIONS! They automatically refer all of these to an outsource company called Violation Management Solutions, who will automatically add at least $35 for a "service fee" to collect each toll from your credit card, the one you used with AVR. This is a hidden item in your rental agreement with AVR when you are rushed to get into your rental van. So, either do not use these guys or DO NOT USE TOLL ROADS if you must use them!!! This is a low cost operation, no frills. Just be aware of what you are getting into when you use them. Good luck. read more

Rented full size SUV for 7 with room for 3 pieces of luggage. Got crossover suv with foldup 3 row big enough for a couple of toddlers. This also left zero room for actual luggage. It meant we would have to hold everything on our laps. We were told this was an EIGHT passenger vehicle and basically to screw off. Our only option would have been to rent a second vehicle. Which we did. With a different rental agency. We would have been better off renting from National emerald aisle and worst case scenario, getting a Hyundai sante fe. When my crew arrived at Denver International Airport, AVR did not have a van ready for us, even though there were ELEVEN vans in their parking lot. Their excuse was that I did not pre-pay. I had tried to pre-pay, but the customer service agent I made the reservation through said not to worry, they will match the pre-pay price at the rental counter. So we were stranded at Denver International Airport without transportation. The manager of another rental agency that shares the same building with AVR heard my conversation with the AVR employee and approached me to help. His company had just acquired a van and he was able to let my crew rent it. He even matched the pre-paid price. I am very thankful to him. AVOID AVR if you want to have reliable transportation. This business is absolutely terrible. From start to finish. We never got picked up from the airport when we arrived. A completely different company shuttle took us to AVR because he felt bad. We walked in, and the office was disgusting- trash everywhere. Dirty floors, dirty bathrooms. Long line of people who were extremely angry. We waited for over 3 hours to get a car. By the time we left, we were starving and frustrated. We missed half a day due to the amount of time we spent there. The car was dirty. The transmission light came on about 30 miles into our drive. The lady at customer service could only say sorry, nothing more. DO NOT rent from this company!! Nightmare. read more

Want to be stranded in Den without a car? Book with AVR... On Feb 4th, I booked a 15 passenger van for a group of friends at DEN airport to drive out to Winter Park for a ski weekend. Van pickup was to be on Feb 21st (reserved 2 weeks prior to pickup). I was sent a confirmation text and replied that I confirmed 24 hours before the rental date. As we landed at 5PM, I received a voice mail stating "This is AVR and I am calling to let you know we cancelled your van, we do not have your van. We apologize but we do not have anything else we can put you in". I tried calling multiple times but no one would pickup the phone. Called AVR customer service line and they said they checked DEN inventory and there was 0 cars available. In conclusion, terrible experience having a group of friends sitting around without a car, so we went to AVIS and picked up one twice the price. Won't bother with AVR ever again. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. Shuttle driver drove past us without stopping. Called to see when the next one would arrive and they said they did not have our reservation. We have a confirmation email booking and then a confirmation email right before our trip to let us know that our car was confirmed and good to go!!! We have a 2 hour drive to make for a wedding and this is absolutely ridiculous. Asked to speak to a manager and said one wasn't available and would be calling us in 30. Still waiting on that call. This has been a real nightmare. I have called multiple times with no answer, and they don't respond when you leave them a voicemail. I rented a car here through Priceline. Their van shuttle from the airport was very janky and the location was dirty and dated, though the car was fine. We returned it with a full tank of gas at the end of the trip and no damages, on the day it was due. As I looked at my account, I saw that this AVR location charged me a total of $781 when my Priceline reservation for them was $166. They added several random charges of over $200+ on my credit card after we returned the car. Again, there were no damages to the vehicle and not returned outside the reservation window. I didn't choose insurance or any extra features, so they are essentially just taking money from me and then not responding to any attempts to contact them. read more

Typically renting a van isn't a very fun experience, but the staff here made it painless. They were very fast in getting me set up with the van and on my way. Everyone I encountered had a positive attitude, from the checkout counter to the shuttle driver.
