Completely different experience than I had at Budget (0 stars if I could have)! Every employee we came in contact with at Alamo was helpful and friendly. We arrived after 1am - no line. Once we were checked in, we were shown which vehicles were available to choose from and we were on our way. Drop off was just as easy, quick shuttle back to the airport. Checking into the Alamo is a little bit rougher than checking out. When returning out the car, just tell the attendants there and they'll tell you to leave the key in the car. After that, you can literally hop onto the bus to the airport within seconds. (5 minute shuttle ride) I STRONGLY encourage folks to use the electronic kiosks if possible, you'll save 45 minutes of waiting. However if your driver license's magnetic strip is damaged, you'll have to go into the Long lines. Just make sure you take pictures of the cars exterior since you're in Colorado and it's pretty common for the cars to have dings and scratches. If you need an AWD for exploring mountain terrain, reserve those EARLY! Those cars go quick and there at even signs at the area warning of limited AWD cars. read more

I strongly recommend that you do not check in at front desk (Denver airport). I've never seen check in take so long. Literally been in line for almost 30 minutes and only had 5 people in front of me. The staff behind the counter are rude and could care less about timing. Rented through Costco, and will NEVER be renting from Alamo again. What a nightmare. read more

This was my very first car rental experience, and I must say it was smooth and easy. It's daunting to rent a car in another state...but Alamo made it easy. This place was highly recommended by Expedia (which I used to book), and if I am ever in the Denver area again, I will certainly look to rent a car from here. The process was super easy. I booked my reservation online two days before my trip, and had my registration ready to go upon landing. Once you exit the airport, you find a clearly-labeled shuttle that takes you to the rental car area. Upon entering the building, I needed to wait online because it was my first time renting a car from Alamo, but in the future I could use the express check-in. The person behind the front desk was kind and informative, and answered all my questions with patience and understanding. Within minutes, we were able to grab a car and hit the road. The car was clean and in great shape. Checking out was even easier. Even though we arrived at the airport at 4am, there were several employees to help us grab our things and head to the actual airport. We took another shuttle (yet again) back to the airport and were on our merry way. Seriously, this is a seamless system that had me impressed. My one tiny gripe is that we were charged for tolls after our trip, but in their defense I did not inquire about a toll pass. Absolutely terrible experience with this rental company. We returned our rental vehicle without any issues being mentioned at drop-off, and then a day later we suddenly received an email accusing us of being responsible for "hail damage" to the vehicle -- with no evidence provided whatsoever. What makes this even more concerning is that the major hail storm in the Denver area occurred days BEFORE we even took possession of the vehicle. During our stay, the vehicle remained parked at our resort location where there were no hail events. Instead of properly documenting and inspecting their vehicles before renting them out, it feels like this company is attempting to push pre-existing damage onto customers after the fact. Being accused of damaging a rental car without proof is extremely frustrating and unacceptable. I strongly recommend that anyone renting from this company take detailed photos and videos of every inch of the vehicle before leaving the lot and again at return, because apparently customers can later be blamed for damage they did not cause. The bus was waiting for us at island 4 at the Denver airport where Enterprise and Alamo share the same bus. Staff was efficient and friendly at this location. Husband uses the slip the counter and go directly to car which is extremely convenient. He had a bar code to scan when leaving. We skipped the counter and walked through door 2 where the cars are located and a staff member kindly directly us to a Jeep that only had 2,000 miles, perfect for our skiing needs. My husband found a small ding on the car and the staff member checking us out told us how to take care of it when we returned. I liked the festive Christmas sweater of the staff member which brought extra cheer. We also took a picture so that they could verify it was there before we rented the car. We hadn't used Alamo in many years before prior bad experience, but this time they were amazingly efficient & the car we rented was clean & well maintained. We opted to do self check-in & skipped going to the counter. It was so easy! Walked to door "2", per online instruction, greeted by a staff member, who checked the barcode on my phone & walked me to the row of AWD SUV's to choose from. All cars were freshly washed & the keys were in the car. We picked one the drove up to the gate, got the barcode scanned again, DL checked, then off we went! The return was also super easy! A staff member scanned the barcode on windshield, asked me to leave the key on dashboard, emailed the receipt, then directed me to the shuttle to go to the airport terminal. My second time renting from here within 3 weeks . Out of all rental companies I find Alamo and Hertz to be the easiest and best; honestly!!! The shuttle bus took everyone from the airport directly to Alamo. Upon entry of the building I was in and out as, Leslie only looked at my ID, since I signed up as an accelerated customer and also skip the counter participate. The only reason that, I didn't skip the counter and went directly to Leslie was because I had questions for her, related to upgrades. Turns out that, it didn't matter because they allowed me to pick any vehicle on the lot. I just wanted to get a good gas saver SUV, so I picked the VOLKSWAGEN SUV. I got in and out within minuets. Thanks for your awesome customer service to Leslie and Mickayla... and then, we have the awesome MICHAEL who approached me at my chosen vehicle. Mivhael and i had good laughs about my comments about the vehicles... he was like, "you're very smart" as I discussed things related to the vehicle that most humans wouldn't know. He's definitely the hilarious and fun coworker of the group! Hi dude! This guy was hilarious and professional. We could all use a good laugh early in the morning. Upon my return, Mickayla was awesome...I always request a walk thru of the vehicles at drop off to avoid any drama later. I was like, "come look girl, and I filled him up" Look... I want you to see everything!!! Anyway, they all deserve raises and a Month off with pay for being EXCELLENT!!! I have a membership, so an automatic discount applies when ever I reserve a vehicle. Check In and updates wee easy to handle with a phone app. At the Denver airport location, the shuttle to the rental lot is located outside the baggage claim area. The family did not had to wait, the shuttle was there. With check in on the phone app, I skipped the counter. We just picked a vehicle from the designated area and drove to exit. The exit attendant checked my drivers license and my confirmation on my phone app, off we go. It was easy to return the vehicle, I dropped and walked away. A receipt was e-mailed to me. Probably my easiest experience renting a car. I booked a car ahead of time using the app and utilized the "skip the line" option. This proved to be easy since all I had to do was walk in, say my name, and they took me to my car options. I literally chose my car, hopped in and left. There is a shuttle to and from the airport to each car rental service from the terminals. Returning the vehicle was just as easy. Answered a few questions and I was in my way. It was our first family trip to Denver and I had a tough week so I was tired and had little patience, thus I was dreading the car rental experience. However, renting and returning the car turned out to be a breeze. Shuttle (National/Alamo) to and from the Denver Airport was convenient. Bus driver was kind enough to help us with the bags. Anthony helped me at the counter. His service was friendly and speedy. I did not at all feel pressured to pay and opt in to additional add-ons. He explained everything on the screens while keeping the process brief and quick. He also gave us the heads up about fees for toll roads. I had reserved a full size sedan but they ran out at the end of the day after our flight has been delayed, so we ended up with Chey Equinox. Car return was also speedy. Wow! We were thrilled from start to finish with Alamo! I decided to try skip the desk in advance e-check in and it was so easy. You walk right out to the parking lot and the guy said, "you can choose any car in this row. The keys are inside." He then gave suggestions on roominess vs good gas mileage. "Alamo" - The Underachievers I always book through Costco and almost always choose Alamo, since I've always been lucky with Alamo, and we got lucky again at Denver airport. Claudia at the counter was very helpful and friendly. We got to upgrade our car to all wheel drive since we were going into the mountainous area and there was snow on the ground. The upgrade was only a $125 more (w/o tax) and it was a good deal. If Claudia didn't give us information on the snow and the upgrade, I am not sure we could not have driven to Divide, Colorado, to the Wolf Sanctuary, or it would have been way more sketchier trying to drive on black ice. Linda helped us get to our car. We had a large choice of cars. I hate leather seats but my husband hated Nissan, so we ended up with a Jeep 4x4 and I must say, for a mini-SUV that was the most smallest SUV I've been in. I'm a short person and my knees were up against the glove compartment. I had to push the seat up because my son was cramped in the back. One full-sized luggage and three carry-ons filled up the trunk. Our backpacks had to go into the back seat since the trunk was so small. My son used our backpacks like pillows during the long-haul. After we drove off the lot, we saw scratches on our car we didn't see in the shade. We called immediately and the lady on the phone was very nice. She said it was OK, I didn't need to drive back to the airport, that was awesome. Draymon (?) at the car return was super nice and pleasant as well, it was a nice end to our rental-car journey. I'm not sure if the lady at the counter was having a bad day, but when I asked if they offered military rates or discounts, as many corporations usually do--she responded, "Well, it's like asking me if Sam's or Costco has discounts. The blonde 20-something manager at the Denver airport location needs to be sent to basic customer service training. I booked through Expedia but completed Skip The Line check-in directly on Alamo's website. I was in my car at the exit gate and was advised that there was a $400 deposit required at this location, on top of the car rental fee, unless I had a return flight. I told the gate agent that I did have a return flight in 4 hours, as this rental car was just to pick up my son an hour away and return to the airport for a trip together. The gate agent contacted the manager and she said that didn't matter so they directed me back to their main desk where the manager would meet me. I explained to my situation but it was as if she already decided she wasn't going to try to help me. I advised that even though I had booked this on Expedia, I was directed to Alamo's website to complete. Check the line check in. It was not disclosed on this page that there would be a $400 deposit. I offered to split it between two credit cards, to use cash, or to use a debit card and was told that there was nothing that she could do or she would lose her job. I asked her to tell me the quickest way to obtain another car rental and she told me that she worked for Alamo and didn't know anything about the other car companies. It was not what she said but how she said it in a snarky and rude tone. I would expect better from manager at one of the largest international airports in the country. Due to being on a time constraint, I contacted my son to see if it was possible for him to get a ride to the airport. Fortunately, he was able to arrange a ride on short notice. I would recommend that the specific deposit amount be clearly called out in bold at the time of the booking or payment for the booking. I certainly would have prepared if I had known that there was $400 available on top of the cost of this $60 rent a car. I would give zero stars to the manager if possible. The employee who initially directed me to my vehicle was friendly, as was the gate agent. As a customer service manager myself, I would use my job if I ever treated a patient/customer the way that this manager treated me. read more

We got in very late at night, and he was friendly and beyond helpful. Especially with explaining the toll payments- which can be very confusing. We rented a minivan from Alamo on our recent CO trip; first one they assigned to us was a mess and smelled very strongly of covered-up cigarette smoke, was dirty, and the seats were torn up. They then changed us to a different van which was suitable, but they need to take that other car out of service as it is not suitable for anyone to pay that much money for. This is like the best Alamo I've ever rented with. I got the deals from Costco (which gives you a complimentary 2nd driver). We can complete the rent "check in" online so that by the time we arrive we just need to go to the garage lot and pick our own car. Lots of signs to show where the car lot is. You need to take an Alamo shuttle from the airport. The shuttle is complimentary, they come often and the drivers are pretty nice. At the rental place everyone from checking out to checking in are super friendly, much friendlier than any other Alamo (or even other rentals) I've been. They have nice selection of cars. The compact SUV we had was in a nice condition with about 13k miles on it. There's a gas station nearby to fill up gas before you return it. read more

Sure you walk out and pick your car without any human interaction. Car selection was great. Drop off was easy. Honestly all car rentals are getting to be the same ( you can thank private equity for that....I sort of joke). Still no refund/no help from Alamo. I sent the review below and did what customer service said to do. I chatted several times and got the same "will send a message" response. If you are promised a refund from Alamo, make sure they do it onsite for you, and take their manager name, contact info, and their colleagues contact info. It's been more than a month of my wife and I following up/trying to get someone to help from Alamo. The manager Tim from the Denver location promised us a refund onsite. Brett from Denver said we'd get the refund. Naya said we'd get the refund. All the virtual agents are doing are saying they'll reach out to Denver again but STILL NOTHING. PLEASE HELP. I'm tired of following up. We want the refund we were promised for all of the troubles we had with your rental car. read more

The customer service at this location is pretty disappointing. When my boyfriend and I arrived, the agent at the counter was insistent on verifying information that was on our license or already provided and additional questions. I overheard another agent with customers who only verified 2 things. After checking in, we were told to wait for someone outside. We stood outside for several minutes before we were acknowledged or helped. There was a line and the agent outside definitely needed help. At drop off, we weren't formally checked in. I heard someone say welcome back but did not realize the process was done. The bus driver did not help with bags and only dropped off at one airline after telling us that drop off was for all airlines. There was a significant walk to Southwest from United where we were dropped off. The car itself was a great ride and roomy with lots of trunk space. We had a Malbu for a full size rental. However, it was extremely dirty/dusty at pick up. To top things off, when I received my receipt, the charge was incorrect and didn't match my original rate. I had to call the main Alamo number to get this corrected. I did receive emails from admin staff asking about my service satisfaction but I haven't had the opportunity to actually talk to someone. read more

I have used the other 2 'big' rental agencies @ this airport and have been extremely disappointed and I'm President's club at one. Shuttle was timely and efficient. Counter lines were long due to app not allowing skipping but it was obvious that they were trying very hard to staff the counter and keep it moving. Still rather 1990 once outside - use runners to take customers to assigned cars or must have one 'brought up' if not close by. I much prefer the pick one out of the assigned class yourself and go. But again - compared to other available options they were far and away superior to my previous experiences here in Denver. read more
