Specials are listed along with their regular menu items. They serve breakfast crepes all day along with sweet and savory crepe creations. Each crepe is made fresh after you.place your order and their friendly staff will bring it to your table. Indoor and limited outdoor seating is available. We tried the Cali which was turkey,ham,bacon,avocado,spinach ,mozz and prov cheese drizzled with a cilantro lime ranch dressing. Delicious! Got the breakfast LumberJack'd crepe with chicken sausage, and it was very good. Big enough to share, and the maple syrup and hot sauce give it a good kick. Annoying that I placed my order before 9 and the earliest I could select for pickup was 930. I arrive at 915 and am told my order will not be ready until exactly 930 because of backlog, and when I arrive literally at 931 and open up immediately to eat it's not even that warm. I don't know if it was because my order was ready right after the first passby and just sat, or the fact that they use prep ingredients that sit around and aren't hot. This family owned 13 year old gem is down a pedestrian only lane between York and Addison and close to a free public parking garage in downtown Elmhurst. After you place your order you are given a pager so you can sit down and wait for your order to be freshly prepared. I sipped on a delicious cup of Dark Matter coffee. Cream, a variety of sugars and syrups are available for the coffee. It is a super casual disposable plate kind of place but the flavor and tenderness of our Cali Crepe was impressive as well as the size which was big enough for two to share. It came with a most interesting apple slaw side that had lime, cilantro and super crispy tart apple shreds. All items can be prepared gluten free for a reasonable upcharge. What a gem! My first time here. Glad to find a great creperie! My friend and I got the SMOG and Inside Out Boy. I am usually into sweet crepes as savory ones never come to mind. But my friend convinced me to try one and it definitely didn't disappoint. I wish I had room to share a sweet crepe but I will have to come back and try it. This one comes filled with caramelized onions, a carrot and zucchini mix, hummus, mozzarella, provolone, and spinach. Get it vegan by leaving off the cheese. There were many choices of savory and sweet crepes. They have a cooler of bottled/canned drinks and then a water jug with warm water in it. Once you order, you are given a buzzer that goes off when your food is ready. I had the "Reubenesque" crepe which had lots of corned beef, sour kraut and a slice of rye folded inside. It was excellent and perfectly cooked. Took about 8 min to be ready. Looked like all meals come with a cup of apple/cilantro and other stuff slaw. That was also tasty. The meal was filling but not overly heavy. The bathrooms were clean, well lit and had paper towels for drying your hands. The plasticware is located across the restaurant near the stairs that you walk down to get in. Not a clean place to put them next to foot traffic, and they are loose and unwrapped in a bin. The water in the cooler was not chilled and not good. My meal was $14.99 before tax and tip (there's no table-side service so tipping is up to you...as it always is). You can even enjoy a sweet or savory crepe while sitting at one of the 3 outdoor tables under the colorful umbrella sky. The place is a few step down to modest lower level dining area. You order at the counter and they "buzz" you when your order is ready. They offer breakfast, sweet and savory crepes. Their crepes are fairly large and seems to match their price schedule. I ordered the Chicago SMOG which is a savory crepe with Italian sausage, mushrooms onions, and garlic mayo. It didn't register with me that it also came with a mild giardiniera which is essentially a pickled relish in vinegar. It is very Chicago, but it was not something I personally enjoy. The crepe was probably about a foot round so it was a lot to eat. You won't go hungry after one of their crepes. Needless to say, I didn't finish my Chicago SMOG and I would have taken it home if it wasn't for the giardiniera. However, just because I don't like giardiniera and it was what I ordered, I can still say that Nu Crepes does do a decent job in executing their crepe menu. They are all freshly made with fresh ingredients and usually takes 5-10 minutes. The staff is friendly and helpful, but there is minimal service as it is mostly set up as a self-service fast food-style restaurant. Absolutely one of the best experiences we've had while visiting the area. Right next to a parking garage where you can park free for up to 4 hours. Comfortable seating area indoors, and also some outdoor seating. The employees that we interacted with were friendly and helpful with recommendations. We had the lumberjack (breakfast crepe with eggs, meat etc) and The Blonde, with banana, pb and caramel. The only issue that we have is that they seem to have an issue with someone's order regularly, sometimes small and othertimes large. Make sure to check your takeout order before heading home. HOLY CRÊPE A sublime spot for folded pancakes that gives off some seriously cool vibes. I'd known of Nu Crepes' existence for a while (having come here for a coworker's bridal lunch) but I'm just now finally getting around to reviewing this awesome Elmhurst eatery. They're closed on Mondays, so a few previous attempts were unsuccessful. Nestled away about 100ft west of York Rd in downtown along a paved alley, this subterranean setting serves up both the sweet and savory variety of crêpes. Everything from the standard ham & cheese (which is AMAZING, tbh) to the daring 'banger toastie' (with maple ginger sausage and garlic mayo) can be found here. My mom and I enjoyed the 'lumberjackd', which was basically a breakfast skillet stuffed inside a thin pancake ($8.75). Two eggs, hash browns, bacon, cheddar, green onion and a shot of maple syrup (syrup shotty!!) made for a very filling selection. Separately we got a lemon curd ($6) and basic cinnamon sugar crêpe ($4) to round out the meal. I distinctly remember the 'campfire' ($6) which includes marshmallow, graham cracker and Biscoff (essentially Nutella) being very rich and one of their signature items. Perhaps the most unique thing about Nu Crepes is their dazzling collection of bottled artisan sodas. Much like Potbelly's array of craft root beers and tough-to-find pop, NC's lineup is tough to beat: cucumber, blood orange, lavender, vanilla bean, juniper berry, and rhubarb flavors of clear 'Dry' soda. I mean come on, how often do you see cool sh*t like that?!? Although I'm not a coffee drinker, I've been told that their Dark Matter brews are exceptional. The staff is tremendous and it doesn't hurt that I happen to know/work with the owner's dad (the super chill Brendan M, father to owner Niall M) so I've got that connection working. Apparently they hosted a Yelp event back in 2013, so major props to Nu Crepes for piquing our collective interests!
