Not being a salmon fan, I substituted bacon on a toasted bagel with the works! Yum!

I LOVE this neighborhood breakfast joint! I've been a customer since they opened, ordering delivery and eating in person. My personal go-to breakfast is the "Hungry Man's(Woman's?!!)" in which you can choose your eggs, bread, sides. Their biscuits and gravy are B+, which is high praise for a spot north of the Mason- Dixon line. Crispy bacon, fresh-squeezed OJ, strong coffee, yummy pancakes... perfection! But what makes this spot 5 stars is the service. Everyone is kind and helpful, and the servers are super efficient- no coffee cup goes unfilled, all special requests honored. Special shout-out to Christjne, who truly delivers, tine and time again!

Fast service, great food & pleasant staff.. the well lit restaurant sits on the corner of Main and St. Charles Streets.. down town Lombard.... I love the atmosphere of this place.. if you have a taste of breakfast or lunch and you are near the area, you won't be disappointed!!!

What went well??? EVERYTHING. We were greeted with a cheery GOOD MORNING. Felt like an at home breakfast but with much more volume. You have to have the fresh squeezed orange juice. There's a juicer machine on the counter that is mesmerizing. I had gluten free strawberry and banana pancakes that were truly amazing. I could only eat one since it was the size of Rhode Island. The coffee was so smooth. Best straight black as it didn't need any assistance to make it palatable. I would take a different route just to eat here again. And our server Christine was top notch. Thank you Egg House for a very pleasant breakfast experience.

I've always driven past this place but never had the time to stop in until a Sunday afternoon around 1:00. It wasn't too busy, and we were helped right away with our drink orders. For food, we got the California Club with a side of fries and the spinach, tomato, and Swiss omelette. I didn't realize how big the omelette would be -- it came with hashbrowns and two pancakes, so it was a full meal. Obviously, I couldn't finish it all! Everything was very good. I had asked for extra crispy hashbrowns, and while some came out a bit burnt, that was on me. I didn't end up trying the pancakes, but I will next time. The club was also tasty, though a little tricky to eat since everything was stacked and kept falling out.

I am in my mid-50's and have ordered breakfast at hundreds of restaurants in the U.S. I am not lying when I tell you that the churros french toast I ate this morning at Egg House restaurant in Lombard was the most delicious breakfast item I've ever eaten. I would not change one thing. Rich? yes. Decadent? for sure. It's not something you'd eat every morning but if you want something special, this is it.

I came here for breakfast with some friends and had really high expectations for this Hometown breakfast spot. However, $14 for four mini pancakes with some fruit I didn't think they were that good. Also my eggs Benedict was just alright. The pancakes were probably the best part of the meal. The ambience is cozy and cute. Our server was prompt and friendly until she was rushing us out the door and commenting that other people are waiting. I get that but at the same time we were already standing up, we didn't need you to tell us "You know some people don't know there's a waiting line at the other door"

I have judged a breakfast restaurant by their pancakes. Egg House pancakes were exceptional; they had a bit of a nutty flavor to them (nutmeg? Buckwheat?). I finished the small stack. My waitress warned me that the "two eggs are like four eggs", she was not kidding either. Egg House has shredded hash brown potatoes or sliced potatoes grilled with onions. I went with the potatoes and onion option; it needed a bit of salt, but every table had a sea salt grinder to season to taste. I also went with the bacon, which was perfectly crispy and salty.

Excellent little breakfast place! I have driven by here many times and my family and I finally made it here for a meal. It was nicer inside them I thought it would be. We were greeted and seated quickly by who ended up being our server. The staff was very attentive. Our server heard us mention it was my wife's birthday and she surprised us with some tiramisu pancakes. They were a hit. I really enjoyed my chorizo skillet. The portions are hearty and everything was excellent, to include the coffee.

Great place to come and enjoy some good Ole home cooked breakfast. My server Christina was amazing. This place is definitely well worth visiting. My food came out just the way I ordered it. Well cooked with just the right amount of season. Nice Ambience and great customer. I like how everyone was chipping in to help each other with the customers. Decent prices. A private lot so you don't have to circle the block looking for a park. I look forward to coming back here again and trying other foods on the menu.

At first, I was disappointed they didn't have Chicago Italian beef. So I asked what they would recommend, and the very polite lady behind the counter said, "You should try my meatball sub." I laughed and told her, "I don't know... my late grandma (100% Italian) made the best meatballs ever, but alright, let's do it." Then she asked, "Do you want peppers?" and of course my reply was, "Heck yeah!" She chuckled. When the sub came out, I have to say, it was huge. I sat down, took one quick smell and a bite... BOOM. I was instantly transported back to my grandma's kitchen, eating Saturday pasta and meatballs. I highly recommend checking this little gem out. The service, the atmosphere, and especially the food were all amazing. I definitely was not disappointed. P.S. Don't skip the desserts -- once again, absolutely amazing. Thank you so much for the memories and the great experience!

It's not huge inside Meltwich, but they have a bunch of stool seating and two booths with leatherette seating. I was excited to discover that Meltwich is halal. I'm not a big grilled cheese guy as it's mostly carbs and fat, but Meltwich has other items like chicken and beef. For example, they have a couple of sandwiches with grilled chicken, a couple burger options, even a Philly cheese steak option. They also have a variety of fries and milkshakes. I'd like to try one of the fries w/ meat items some other time. I was overwhelmed with the options, but the employee pointed out his two favorite options, so that helped me narrow it down. I went with the Southern Fried Chicken Melt (just the sandwich, not the combo). It was fried chicken with melted cheese and some veggies smushed between multi-grain bread. It was served very hot, so after a couple of attempted bites I decided to take it home to eat. It was very tasty. It took about 12 minutes to come out. I definitely plan to go again and try some other items. Service was excellent. I think pricing was fair ($12.95 for the sandwich only, plus tax & tip) considering the size of the sandwich; it was enough for two people, quite frankly.

So I had to find a new Italian deli in the area and this place had an authentic Italian sub on the menu with prosciutto, Genoa salami, capicola, provolone cheese, Italian dressing, lettuce and tomato that I added raw onions, hot giardiniera and mayo. It's a deli/mini mart/gambling machine/cafe with friendly service. The meats were skimpy was my first thought, see my pictures. My first thought after taking the first bite was WOW this Italian hoagie bread was perfect/fresh with that great chew/pull. Even with the skimpy meat the whole combination with me tweaking the sandwich was so fu#king delicious I got a second one to take back to WI for dinner. The area probably has a better Italian deli the residents will tell you but I'm in town once a year so next year I will try another Italian deli until I find one to start a new tradition like my old friend for many years that is no more. My final thought is that the price point is similar to the chain sub restaurants with a high quality sub sandwich and why anyone in the area that goes to a chain with this gem is beyond me because they do an authentic Italian sub very well.

Let's start with the good: the sandwiches were delicious, with standout bread that really elevated the meal. While I wouldn't go out of my way to make a special trip just for them, they were definitely enjoyable and well-executed. The rice bowls earned a solid 7.5 from my husband and son. Flavorful and filling, but maybe missing that little extra something to make them truly memorable. Where Zenwich unfortunately fell flat was the customer service. We visited around 5 PM on a Friday and there was only one person working. Not only were we not greeted when we walked in, but we stood at the counter for several minutes without even being acknowledged. I even saw another customer politely thank the staff member after asking for a napkin, and he didn't so much as look up in response. It left the whole experience feeling impersonal. If the service matched the quality of the food, this would've easily been a four-star visit. With just a bit more effort in the hospitality department, Zenwich could really shine.
