GREEN TEA ICE- with mango, grass jelly and condensed milk I really like the smoothness of the ice itself and it's not overly sweet. The green tea has a nice earthy flavor, which is complemented well with the sweetness of the condensed milk and mango. I always add grass jelly for the texture. LYCHEE ICE- with mochi and condensed milk The lychee ice was sweet and fruity. Not my favorite, but it wasn't bad. The condensed milk added more sweetness to it; so I wouldn't recommend it if you don't want it too sweet. The mochi didn't taste fresh, but it was soft. I wouldn't order this combo again. So, I have been coming here for a few years and surprisingly have not done a review for this place! Here in Houston, we are blessed with having so many great places for bubble tea and shaved ice. Nu Ice and Drinks has consistently been one of my favorites. They have expanded their flavors of ice throughout the years with Nutella and green tea being two of my favorite. They have set shaved ice combinations (sea salt caramel is also very good) and also the option to make your own (with as many toppings)! They have two sizes - hill and mountain. The hill is meant for 1 person but to tell you the truth, it can easily feed 2-4 especially if you had food before! One of my favorite items on the menu is blue honey pop drink. It used to be called Marco Polo. I am not sure what i love about it but it reminds me of the very short lived blue Pepsi that I loved (and was probably the only person that liked it). I was pleasantly surprised. It was a hot day, and I haven't had good shaved ice before, so coming in I was a bit skeptical. Of course I wouldn't have come if it weren't for the rest of my family that pulled me there. But were we in for a treat! If--and only if--you've got a real sweet tooth, I suggest the half and half. It's got caramel milk ice with honey boba and flan. It's amazing, to say the least. But every time I drink it, I'm reminded that I need to see the dentist and check my blood sugars! Lol. This is definitely a drink you should get to treat yo self as that's what I do myself. They have other regular drinks, but I live for the half and half. As far as their shaved ice goes, it's pretty good too! You can make your own (grab the clipboard) or get one of their concoctions. This is appalling, as I was ordering, I watched the employees sweat everywhere and then I asked them to send me to their manager. She said, they aren't in. I asked, "can u turn the ac to a lower temperature, it is really hot?" She then responded with, "the owner won't let us .. cheap." I was mad! How can u provide such an environment for your customers and employees?!?! Ridiculous. I know the owner has responded, the a/c was broken. It's not. I think it was the pictures I saw on yelp that made me bookmark this place. The not ice cream/not snow cone pictures looked weird but it made me want to try it even more. After an extremely satisfying meal at Chuan's (the nearby Sichuan restaurant) on an incredibly hot Houston afternoon, my friends and I dropped by Nu's for dessert. We ordered two "hills" for four people, which is more than enough. The first one was the matcha shaved ice with honey boba and watermelons on the side (you get a free topping with a check-in). You comes with 2 toppings, but you may add additional toppings if you like for an extra cost. My favorite shaved ice flavors are vanilla and coffee. I do look forward to trying out green tea. You can't go wrong with any of their toppings, you just need to pair it well. I enjoy the lychee poppers, caramel salt drizzle, and mochi over vanilla. They also have drinks well.
