Came here for a friends birthday. We entered through the front where we never got acknowledged. When the rest of our group arrived we went back to the patio/seating where we seated ourselves. It was around 6:45 on a Saturday and there were only about 2-3 other groups. To order you have to scan the QR code at your table. Its convenient because everyone can just order and pay on their own tab. The food, hookah, and cards are all ordered through this. Everything came out lightening fast. I got the chicken plate with white meat and the cinnamon tea, less sweet. The plate had plenty of food and was pretty good but not anything special. The tea was absolutely delish and I would highly recommend it. Randomly the chips off of my friends plate were one of my favorite things. I dipped it in the hummus and it was a great flavor combo. They have plenty of hookah flavors and by 8:00 pm the place was packed and you could not see through the smoke lol. Service is a little spotty if you need help. There were some helpful servers and some that were lacking. The place has 2-3 too many tables, you have to walk through a maze to try to exit because it is so cramped. The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. Most of our group ended up just holding our pee in! Overall the place had good vibes but there are some holes in the service. For food, we got the lamb shank kabsa, chicken kofta plate, and arayes. The lamb was fall-off-the-bone and flavorful, sitting on a huge bed of seasoned rice. The kofta was juicy and well-spiced. Arayes were crispy on the outside and stuffed with ground meat... simple but satisfying. We ended with the kunafa cream, and honestly, that alone is worth coming back for. It was huge!!! Gooey, warm, and sweet without being too heavy. I LOVED THIS!! This place isn't fancy, but it doesn't need to be. It's consistent, it's full of life, and it gives you exactly what you came for. Nubia is one of those very well known hookah spots in Orange County where you know it's always popping and packed, so it HAS to be good .. I've come here quite a few times at various times of the nights and it never is empty! The lounge/restaurant is in the back so you need to drive through to the back through an alleyway and find parking anywhere and then walk through kind of the "side" entrance where you'll be greeted by the host who will jot your name down and if there's a wait line...you'll have to wait. My advice - go early!! 6-8 is usually fine however anytime after that you will absolutely be waiting 20-40 minutes, especially if you're a big party. With that being said...is it worth it? Absolutely - if you're a hookah enjoyer then you'll love this spot. Hookah comes out pretty dang fast and is always delicious.. they also have a great menu of food but my favorite is the fresh shawarma / fries. Ambiance is absolutely beaming, you really feel like you're in such a friendly and enjoyable environment when you're here, only downside...you may get seated with/near strangers due to the way the edges/corners are, but I don't think that's a big deal. They also have card games and boards for anyone who wants to play but I usually enjoy going to smoke and talk with my people! This place is horrible. On the weekends you have to spend 20$ each. They are now charging for everything that they can such as the hose for the hookah. TLDR; I have been to Nubia twice in the last few years, and both times, the service was extremely poor, the staff was rude, and the food quality has gone down. During my first visit, we had a group of 6 and not everyone was ordering a hookah. Some were just eating dessert or having Chai. After we ordered and our stuff arrived, we were told that there was a minimum spend on Saturday nights and that we would have to leave if we weren't spending more. My friend, who is a regular said that she has come plenty of times and that was not a policy. We later moved to a smaller table and they stopped bothering us about a minimum spend. If the issue was our group of 6 at an 8 person table, they could have just told us and we would have gladly accommodated, instead of threatening to make us leave The second time I came, I ordered take out only. The food quality has gone down since the last time I was here unfortunately. And the receipt I signed for was $52 (total). But when I checked my credit card the next day, it rang up as $55, which makes me believe this place has un-honest staff. I saw other folks reviews about inaccurate menu pricing, but the total was changed for how much I was charged after I signed the receipt. Additionally the parking is rough here as it's a very small lot. There is more parking available in the back. read more

Disappointing Experience - Hidden Fees & Poor Transparency I visited Nubia Café in Anaheim with a group of five, and we were initially asked to order through a QR code menu at our table. Everything seemed fine until checkout, where we were unexpectedly told to pay at the cashier--even though we had already entered our payment details via Apple Pay. When we checked the receipts, we noticed a 15% additional charge that was never disclosed beforehand. There was no sign or note on the table menu stating that groups of five or more would be charged extra. When I asked about it, the staff told me that only their personal phone menu had this information--which makes no sense, since customers are scanning the QR code on the table, not their phones. When I asked how I could file a complaint or speak to a manager, the employee told me that "nobody is in charge here" and that I would have to come back on Tuesday if I wanted to speak to someone. On top of that, they simply told me "there's nothing we can do." The lack of transparency and dismissive attitude from the staff make this place feel dishonest. I was joking about being outside because it's covered up and the outside part is where the party is at. There's just something about co-mingling with others in an outside patio with music, TVs, social noise, and hookah, and smoke mixing in with the smell of charcoals in the air. It fondly reminded me of street food/smells in Asia. Anyway, we ordered a 3 combo skewer plate and a kushari (spelling?) plate and kunefe (spelling????) plate and an apple hookah. Our entrees were LITERALLY SO GOOD. And typically my wife and I are not fans of legumes of any sort, but the lentils in the kushari plate were AMAZING. I could go on and on about the food, but tonight I'll keep it succinct and say the food was as good as it looked, yelp and in real life. Service was so friendly and helpful! From the stylishly cool guy, to the helpful waitress, to the coal dudes, everyone was incredibly helpful and welcoming! Parking can be a little sketch as its not the greatest looking from outside. We were waiting to be seated and was greeted by George who I have to say is so darn friendly and accomodating. This guy reminds me of Fouseytube and has such an amazing personality. Literally see's you as family and make sure you are fully taken care of. He was able to seat our party of 7 comfortably and mind you this is on a Wednesday night and the place was packed. The service here are incredible! The staff really is attentive and makes sures to take care of you and the hookah! The drinks were amazing and came out swiftly. The ambiance was great and packed with no drama, people doing their own thing and socializing. Music was fantastic and place was super clean! Hookah was clean and very good as well! My first time trying hookah and coming to a hookah lounge was at Nubia and it was such a great experience. At first the indoor space seems empty but you're greeted by a bustling crowd in the back. The workers are friendly and they do their best. My friends treated me out for my birthday and we all got the double apple along with shawarma, a mezza plate, and baklava. A pretty good shisha spot for late night hangouts in OC. It can be hard to get a table here as it gets quite busy later in the night so would reccomend making a reservation. They have some games you can play which I haven't seen at most other spots and found it cool and multiple large TVs to watch sports. I had a mixed experience on the shisha as one of the flavors we got was done so well it was so smooth while the other one was really hard to pull and didn't really taste as strongly. I've always liked hookah but never had a chance to visit any places since my college days. Luckily my husband found Nubia and we found ourselves coming back at least 3 times since the new year. My first impression was that this place has good vibes and a great place to socialize. It's a big, spacious patio with cute decor and loud music- super loungey and great for large groups. At first I was a bit bummed they didn't serve alcohol but we still very much enjoyed ourselves without it. That being said, the food here is phenomenal! So far we have tried their: -3 skewer combo: perfect meat to rice ratio with every meat so tender and juicy. The cucumber/tomato salad was very flavorful and refreshing with the hummus tasting so authentic that the pita bread with just an extra item on the plate. I can't describe the orgasms of flavors from this dish that it's a must try! -Kushari: At first we were hesitant to try as we're not fans of lentils/beans but it was a popular item. Macaroni + rice + lentils + deep fried onions. Glad we tried but super heavy in carbs. Lol. -Kunafa with nutella on the side: Sweet dessert/cake like and was also very impressed with this recommendation if you're feeling something sweet. It's like sweet fresh bread- kind of buttery and pistachio on top. Either way, must try! -Kushari tea: Love, love, love!!! Since it's winter, a hot milk tea warms me right up. Pairs perfectly with hookah imo. Lol. Think milk tea but Nubia style with loose tea leaves on the bottom but sooooo good. Their hookah can be hit or miss but we would ask the servers for popular flavors and add mint to it. It's on a different level with it! Sometimes we come after drinking and something about alcohol + smoke makes it a good combo. Lol. Overall, this is a great place to come with a group or a date night. Service has been amazing each time we have gone. The servers are very attentive along with the workers coming to change/check on your hookah. George, the host, is very welcoming.
