Second visit. Terrible Experience and will be our last visit. Placed credit card on open table. We have a 1 year old and were running 10 min behind so I messaged them on open table advising ETA. They never checked the messages but instead canceled our reservations. Asked if we were celebrating anything. Obviously it wasn't important to them if they cancelled. Spoke to manager (heavy set bald gentlemen) , he didn't care. "It's our policy" speech. Clearly not a father/family man. All good. Time to order: "out of sea bass, out of a swordfish, no cauliflower dish, and no potatoes". Poor inventory managment. Food was just ok. Not amazing. We didn't think it could get any worse, but our experience did. Server spilled a plate by gathering too many dishes all at once and the sauce spilled all over one of our guests. Shit Happens, but you can tell they felt regretful about how they treated us prior. Not professional, ran by a very inexperienced staff, Food and service shows. STILL TIPPED 20 percent because I know service can be tough. But that doesn't excuse the fact that the service was terrible and the management staff handled a situation poorly and in a petty way. I asked my entire party how they felt that was handled and they were not impressed and felt the initial cancellation policy of 10 minutes with a credit card placed to hold the reservation was poor practice. read more

The Wooden Pearl came up when I searched for steakhouses in the area. I suggested it to my MIL when she wanted to plan our annual birthday dinner. I made a reservation through OpenTable. We carpooled to the Packing House and arrived on time to our reservation. The Packing House was packed due to the busy D23 weekend. We checked in with the hostess and were immediately seated near the entrance. We were handed our menus and our server Brianna took our orders. We were informed that several items were no longer available. We ordered the Parker house rolls, crab cake (ended up being unavailable), Potato Pave, skirt steak, filet, pork chop, and burger. We also ordered a couple drinks. I opted for the Berried Treasure which was the perfect amount of sweetness in a bourbon based cocktail. I enjoyed it immensely. The green tea for my FIL took some time for it to come out, which was a bit of a wait. The rolls arrived with a lovely side of soft salted butter. I enjoyed the warm bread with salt. The potato bite with caviar was delicious and disappeared quickly! My husband and I shared the pork chop and the skirt steak. The steak was tender and tasty. The pork chop was delicious as well. My FIL had ordered the burger but he had to scrape the cheese off and he couldn't eat the bun as he has a gluten allergy. I'm surprised no one asked us if we had any allergies. For dessert, we ordered the Basque cheesecake. Brianna also brought us a slice of the chocolate cake, on the house, as we were celebrating 3 birthdays that evening. Both were topped with strawberries. The cheesecake was definitely the winner of the two. You could taste the hint of citrus and the creamy texture was really good. The chocolate cake was a bit dry and not as rich as I would have liked. Our meal was good. The noise level was loud as we were in the Packing House so, it was to be expected. We were essentially ejected from our table within 2 hours of our reservation. It was D23 weekend so they had a bit of a wait getting a table, if they did not already have reservations. While the restaurant promotes itself as photo-friendly on social media, we were informed by hostess Kesley that flash photography was not allowed. A courtesy text or sign would have been helpful. Omg when I say I loved this place, I mean i LOVED. It's located on the bottom floor of Anaheim Packing District and is a little restaurant with big personality and flavors! The service was as amazing as the food! We had multiple waiters come up to us and asked me and my friend how everything was. They were also very helpful with what dishes and drinks would best suit our food palettes. I would definitely go back for more! This was our second time at Wooden Pearl. We originally discovered the restaurant through a cocktail passport book we have, and we really loved the decor and overall vibe. The bartender was a little quirky, but he ultimately made us some pretty good drinks. After that visit, we decided we definitely wanted to come back and try brunch. Unfortunately, brunch was a bit of a letdown. When we walked in yesterday, the restaurant was basically empty, with only a group of three sitting in the corner. The hostess asked if we had reservations and said she needed to check to see if there was room for us. We were eventually seated at a tiny table pressed against a beam. I had a view of the kitchen, while my husband had a view of the open door leading into the hallway of the Packing House. Definitely not the best table if you're there to enjoy the atmosphere and vibes of the restaurant. Our server was also a little strange. She was very meek and didn't really seem comfortable in a customer-facing service role. I ordered the Fizzie McGuire cocktail, and the presentation was underwhelming with zero garnish. Unfortunately, the drink itself was incredibly bitter. It tasted like the simple syrup may have been forgotten or there was way too much lemon juice. My husband ordered a coffee cocktail (I can't remember the name), which came with a dried banana garnish that was completely stale and inedible. Our drinks also sat at the bar for quite a while before being brought to us, and our server never came back to check whether we liked them. For food, I ordered the avocado toast and my husband got the Pearl brunch burger. The burger was good and a decent portion. The avocado toast came with a salad, although I wish there had been an option for potatoes or something a little heartier. The salad had a sweet dressing, which just wasn't what I was in the mood for. The avocado toast itself honestly looked like something I could have made at home. The cucumbers and radishes were all cut unevenly and simply arranged on top. The toast was literally just avocado, cucumber, and radish--no seasoning, no olive oil, and basically no flavor. It was incredibly bland. I eventually had to flag down our server and told her the toast was terrible. I asked for some salt, pepper, and balsamic vinegar to try to make it more enjoyable. Unfortunately, the balsamic she brought out was a sweet glaze, which made the toast even sweeter. At that point, it almost tasted like I was eating a doughnut. I took a few more bites and just couldn't eat it. The hostess eventually came by and asked if I wanted a box. I told her the avocado toast was terrible, and she asked, "Oh, why didn't you say anything?" I explained that I had. She said she would speak with our server. They did end up taking the avocado toast off the bill, which was a nice gesture and appreciated. I really want to like Wooden Pearl because I love the decor and the overall concept, and our first experience was good enough that we wanted to come back. We plan to give it another shot at some point, but unfortunately, based on this brunch experience, 3 stars is all I can give it for now. read more

Did not like this place at all Food: 1/5 - quality, portions everything was pretty bad. We asked if they had any vegetarian not even vegan entrees and they said no. They said they can remove protein from pastas like scampi or mac n cheese and just give us dough and butter. Food lacked any flavor or cook or technique and everydish was above 20$. Some drinks straight up taste like turpentine. Service: horrible. I tried to give them benefit of doubt thinking they're inexperienced, but they seem ignorant and rude. I've been sent SEVERAL IG reels of this place which have been so aesthetically pleasing. So my friends and I decided to head here for brunch. First of all this place has such a great vibe. The decor, the music, just sets the mood for your meal. We came on the day of the World Cup final and we were streaming the game on our phone. We got the bottomless mimosas and def. got our monies worth. They offer a variety of juices and you can switch it up if you decide you need a change. I got the red chilaquiles and my other friend got the steak and eggs. All the food was amazing. The proportions are perfect. I couldn't finish my food. The oysters were fresh and my friend kept ordering oysters because they were so fresh. The service... amazing. Manny, the manager was so sweet and personable. We waited an hour for a classic breakfast and a crab and shrimp omelette. The omelette was dry, burnt, and contained no crab. As for the classic breakfast, the sausage was cold in the middle. My wife and I recently visited this restaurant and had no idea it was located downstairs packing district. It's an intimate steak & seafood restaurant and I recommend if you want to have a quiet dinner. We started off with the blue fin crudo and everything about this dish was on point. Fish was fresh and the combination of avacdo, the seeds, the sauce, it was all a delicious app put together. Highly recommend this dish! For another seafood dish, we ordered the scallops. This is where it kinda fell short. Usually scallop in my opinion should be a little bit more firm as far as texture goes. I felt it might have been just a little undercooked. Unfortunately, we weren't a big fan of this dish. Presentation looked nice though. We both had one last dish, which was the skirt steak. This dish definitely saved the night. Cooked with perfection and the perfect temp to medium. It paired really well the sauce and the broccolini. Very tender. Good dinner spot for steak, the scallops fell short. Th Wooden Pearl is located on the bottom floor of the Anaheim Packing District. My friend and I were there for Saturday brunch. Parking was terrible. The previous parking lot down the street that used to be free is now valet only. I had a reservation, so there wasn't a wait, but the restaurant wasn't packed when I got there. It did get busier as the afternoon continued on. The restaurant itself is very cute and whimsical. The brunch menu was small, which for an indecisive person like me, was great. The food did take a while to come out. I got the shrimp and crab omelette and it took almost 15-20 minutes. The portion was small for the price that we paid, but the food was overall good. The service was not the best, which is the reason for the 4 star. They seemed short on staff. Our waters didn't get refilled when it was empty and no one checked in after the food got to our table. The next time we saw someone was when they took away the plates and gave us the check. I would go again for the food and restaurant vibes, but I would hope that the service improves. read more

I ordered the salsa verde chilaquiles with a well-done steak, my sister had the classic breakfast, and we shared the potato pavé with caviar (modified to fit our food preferences). Every single dish was absolutely delicious. To drink, we had sparkling water, and I ordered a michelada that paired perfectly with brunch. I also loved the décor--it definitely gives off an under-the-sea vibe. The dim lighting created such a cozy, inviting ambiance that made the experience even better. The customer service was top-tier. This restaurant is a great addition to the Anaheim Packing district. It's located on the first floor, close to the bathrooms. I came here on a Thursday for their oyster happy hour ($2 all day!) and the oysters were GOOOD!! You can never be too sure with oyster happy hours so we only ordered half a dozen just in case they sucked. They did not!! They were fresh and juicy and I was very happy. As soon as the oysters landed on our table I wished we would've ordered more but unfortunately the kitchen was closed. We came pretty late and were definitely racing against the clock to put our order in. I could tell our server was annoyed and didn't want to seat us. He saw us standing in front and pretended to be busy and took a long time to finally help us. We came at 845 and the kitchen closes at 9pm so it's our own fault. Haven't written a review in a minute, but this place was just wonderful. We showed up at 4:30 on a Thursday afternoon, and were immediately welcomed by Manny, who was working both the host stand and as a server. He told us they were short staffed due to someone calling out for an emergency, and yet the whole time we felt well taken care of. Manny had great recommendations, was thoughtful and funny, and made us feel at home. We also met Paul, who was working the bar and also as an expo, and made wonderful cocktails. He even offered to make us something off-menu, and had mentioned that one of the drinks he had tried while making those off-menu drinks didn't turn out. The fact that he was so dedicated to making something we would enjoy based on our tastes that he wouldn't accept a sub-par drink really means a lot. He was also kind and fun, and we would absolutely drink the rest of the bar menu. The food was also great, I got a dozen oysters that were fresh and briny, my wife and I shared the Parker rolls, and we had sea bass and skirt steak that were each beautifully prepared and not too heavy. Funny enough if I had one note it would be that you couldn't cut the steak with the steak knives... because the steak knives were a little dull and not serrated. BUT we discovered you could easily cut the steak with a butter knife - that's how tender it was. Honestly while the food was great, the people who work here are the real sell. Not amazing, but good enough. Crab Cacio e Pepe with Truffle - 4/10: Unfortunately, this was the dish I was most excited about, and it fell short. The pasta was overcooked and ripped easily, the flavour was lacking, and I had to add salt to every bite. The worst part was that we bit into a thin piece of metal in the dish, so we had to send it back. Chilean Sea Bass - 7.5/10: The fish was cooked perfectly, flaky and tender. The green pea risotto was decent, but the dish as a whole felt like it was lacking a bit of flavour. Oysters - 8/10: Simple, fresh, and exactly what I hoped for. Definitely would get again. Potato Pave - 6/10: Not as crispy as I expected, lacking salt, and the sour cream didn't add much. I was also disappointed they were out of caviar that evening. Despite the somewhat lackluster food, the service here was incredible and honestly the main reason I might come back. Our server (whose name I unfortunately didn't get) was extremely friendly and attentive, and was super apologetic for the piece of metal in our pasta and for the missing caviar. I had a really lovely first visit to this establishment. It's located on the lower level of an old citrus packing building. Essentially the entire place has been repurposed into a center with over a dozen food concepts. On a Friday night, the place was lively and boisterous. The restaurant itself is very intimate with a small dining area and dim lighting. The servers were very attentive and the menu was very sophisticated. I tried the filet steak and started with crabcakes. The flavor of both was excellent, and the portions were more than adequate. I didn't have room for dessert but the chocolate cake looked lovely. Reservations can be challenging so I recommend planning ahead of time. Parking on the street took at least 10 minutes extra. They also don't have bathrooms in the restaurant so you have to go out to the public ones in the packing center. Overall, it was a really outstanding visit and I would be honored to go back. 10 out of 10, never disappoints. First of all let me start with I can't believe I actually took pictures before taking bites! If you know me I get mesmerized with good food. But I knew he was in for a surprise (it's one of my favorite dishes there) practically every bite had a nice bite size of lobster. This was so creamy and rich, with tons of flavors. But not overwhelming. It's one of these meals that you have on a tough day or rainy day. And you want a little bit of "home'. I liiterally feel like I'm being hugged with every bite. There's something so comforting with this meal The pork chops .... Emmm medium well sitting on a bed of sunchoke puree and creamy spinach artichoke dip.... I was that girl who always 100% ordered medium rare steak. I mean you could not pay me to order anything other than steak. The staff talked about this this plate, convinced me to try it to take a leap of faith. Not only did she change my mind but she changed to her mother guest. All I can tell you is that we were blown away! My son had the same experience when I took him on our date. I mean he closed his eyes as he was savoring every bite. And this is a teenager may I remind you. A year ago I took my son out to a Japanese restaurant and I had ordered oysters for him to try. He was traumatized they were huge and it just tasted awful. But I was able to convince him to a go. I begged him just to try at least one (I've had them here and can attest their freshness and high quality). These oysters are fresh and high qualit. You can taste the ocean water, they're dainty and the perfect way to end the meal or start it. Long story short this place has the vibe the ambiance high quality mouth watering food and to top it all off the staff is knowledgeable and very detailed! We tried the "Lost in Translation," a vodka-based drink that isn't on the menu, as well as an espresso martini, and both were excellent. For the food, we started with the crab cakes. They weren't greasy, and the breading was good, but they were small and had very little filling. For only two crab cakes, the price felt excessive. We also ordered the skirt steak with potatoes and broccolini. Unfortunately, the potatoes were extremely bland, and the steak was quite chewy. Considering the price, we expected much better quality and flavor. The lobster mac & cheese was definitely the best dish of the night. It was rich, creamy, and flavorful, but even that felt overpriced. The ambiance was nice and the music was enjoyable, but overall, the food did not justify the prices. I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately the experience didn't match the food. From the moment we walked in, we felt rushed. Before we even sat down, we were told we had to give the table back by 8:15pm. We made rsvp too. I can understand it's a small restaurant and they need to manage seating, but there were three empty tables right next to us, which made it feel unnecessary and uncomfortable. Parking was also a hassle. Even with valet, it took a while to get situated, which added to the stress before even starting the meal. The food itself was good and we ordered quite a few dishes to try, but it was hard to enjoy anything because we felt pressured the entire time. I had a wonderful experience at The Wooden Pearl. I ordered the aguachile prawn dish and the parker rolls with the house-made butter--both were amazing. The presentation was beautiful, and the flavors were amazing. The prawns were super fresh with the perfect amount of heat from the Serrano peppers, and those parker rolls were warm, soft, and honestly very addictive. The ambiance was gorgeous. It really felt like I stepped into a mermaid lagoon--calm, dreamy, and just a really cool atmosphere to relax in. Service was great, too. Our server was friendly and attentive, and the manager was incredibly welcoming, which made the whole visit feel even better. Definitely a spot I'd recommend, and I'm already looking forward to going back to try the other dishes. read more

The Wooden Pearl is one of the newer restaurants at the Anaheim Packing House. They are located downstairs on the far east side. It is hard to miss the exterior of the restaurant with its stone base, tilted windows along the middle, and plants running along the top. The interior is decorated well, with lots of vines and potted trees, and trees on the wallpaper. The tables are wood, and there are also wooden shingles throughout. It has a very cozy feel that transports you to another place. In addition to tables and half-booths, they also have a good sized bar. We were fortunate to arrive during happy hour as they have some great deals on drinks and food. We ordered the crispy Brussels sprouts which are only $3 (normally $14) and crab cakes which are only $9 (normally $24). The dish of Brussels sprouts was a generous size. They were roasted well with a nice crisp on them. They were very flavorful on their own, but the accompanying sauce and sprinkled cheese on top made them even better. I still can't believe this appetizer was only $3. The crab cakes were also very good. They were a little on the smaller side, but were flavorful and were not fishy at all. They also came with a good sauce, and a great curly endive salad with various toppings. This was also a steal at only $9. I ordered the King Koko Colada cocktail (Lost Explorer blanco, coconut, pineapple, blueberry, lime, bitters, $18). The list of ingredients caught my eye, but for some reason I had a hard time picking out any of them. It was a pretty neutral tasting drink to me, but the tequila hit hard. I wouldn't order this again. I originally had my eye on the Post (Water) Malone cocktail, but my girlfriend picked it first (Mijenta Reposado, watermelon, lime, apricot, pineapple match foam, black lava salt, $17). This cocktail was a winner in several ways. It had a nice light sweetness, and you could taste almost all of the ingredients, especially the watermelon, which is one of my favorite flavors. I love a foam top on drinks, and the pineapple matcha foam was definitely unique. The black salt sprinkle on top added a perfect contrast of flavor with a nice burst of saltiness. For my entrée, I had the 10 ounce skirt steak ($45). It was a nice cut of meat cooked to a perfect medium rare. It was very tender and absolutely delicious, one of the best steaks I have had in a while. The veggie sides and sauce were very good also. She started with the Classic Kale Ceasar Salad ($18). I'm usually not a big kale fan, but this was a very good salad. It had a good amount of Parmesan cheese and bread crumbs, the dressing was great, and it even had an anchovy on top. She also ordered the Spicy Ahi Bites ($24). The dish had a nice presentation, but overall was an underwhelming. The tuna wasn't spicy at all, and was actually a little fishy. Maybe it was just a bad batch of ahi, but we would not order this again, especially at this price. Our servers Marty and Rianna were very friendly and provided good service. I didn't catch her name, but the restaurant host who seated us was very friendly as well. The Wooden Pearl is decorated beautifully and has a great ambiance. They have some excellent happy hour deals, so definitely try to visit before 6pm. The regular menu is a little on the expensive side. Most of the food and drinks were very good, but a few items missed the mark. read more

The restaurant is quant and tucked away in a quiet corner. The decor is fun and you feel like you're in a little secret spot. The servers are nice but they seemed understaffed on a Thursday evening. The food came out hot and was fresh. The calamari was delicious, but the crab cakes underwhelmed. The seasonal field green salad was delicious, and the Chilean sea bass was buttery. They somehow perfected the crispy crust and the buttery, melty, tender inside flesh. The portion was also huge? The cioppino was flavorful and also well portioned but somewhat forgettable. read more

Such a cute little restaurant! It's kind of hard to find, all depends where you park and entrance. If you do valet and go through the main entrance you have to downstairs straight and walk all the end of the market and restaurants! It's by the restrooms! It's such a cute place perfect for any occasion! The manager recommended us their brunch , we definitely want to be back! Food is 10/10 and cocktails too, prices are very reasonable! read more
