For the past few SDCCs, I have met Kenny and he has always been very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable - and the sales at the cons have always been great! So after moving around the area, I was ecstatic to find that his comic shops is local, so I decided to check it out. It's a small shop, but pretty well stocked with comics, TPBs, figures, etc. They also have a deal if you have a bunch of monthly titles on your pull (I think the number is 10? Don't quote me on that though...), plus they have probably the best deals on newly released TPBs. However, the deal on the monthly titles is not the absolute best, and Comic Toons and Toys in Tustin will still have my regular business for now. This shop is still really great though! read more

I came here to sell a bunch of 90's era books and cards. Right from the start, the owner was welcoming and accommodating. He included me in a conversation with one of his regulars. Over the course of our transaction, I watched him with multiple regulars. It was really impressive how well he knew them and how well he worked with them. I also saw him fairly negotiate with someone who had seen books online. I couldn't have been more impressed with a business. If I was still into collecting, Nuclear Comics would be my go to shop. read more

One of the Three shops I frequent while around California. This shop gets most of my businesses cuz I'm usually down this way. This shop has a warm and welcoming feel and I'm assuming the owner which I've never actually introduced myself to is always friendly and always ready to help or answer any questions. Today I was surprised to see multiple employees there. A young kid talking about veal and another fellow that had glasses and a blonde quiet lady, diligently working around the shop. The stick here is always good and if you follow them on Instagram you can see weekly releases and two cents opinions on releases. I came here just to browse and look for Chew 1-30 and some fillers for my run. The owner was very helpful and had almost every issue I was looking for. Came in here 22 minutes until they close to grab something for my kids birthday. "Kenny", who I later found out owns the place seemed very irked by my late arrival as he was clearly in a hurry to pack up and head home early. As I browsed the store looking for my preferred comic he made a not so subtle jab at my red hat with an anti Trump comment. This would be a negative star if that was possible. Honestly really wasn't impressed when I came in here I walked in just to browse some comics and stuff and from the moment I walked in the owner was eyeballing me I walked up to the comics and was browsing and he came straight up to me while he was talking to other customers And just started harassing me asking me like hey do you need anything, what you looking for I was like I'm just browsing man can you just give me some space I then went to look at some full sets I found two I was interested in so I was just gonna open it to look at the conditions and the numbers and instantly this guy goes yo what are you doing nah don't do that there fine like don't be messing with it, not good customer service man you gotta let people browse don't be bugging people it's not really good customer service and your prices weren't great read more

As an LA transplant, I seriously missed having that place that was my "CHEERS". The place where I could go and shop and hang with my people of The "Geek fraternity". My move down here has been a rough adjustment . But, All I can say is I FOUND A NEW HOME HERE AT NUCLEAR!! From the moment I stepped through the door they made me feel like I was a regular. They are legit, and knowledgeable on all things comics and more! Incredible selection! Amazing service and just all around great people! AUTHENTIC in every way. I was in the store on Monday afternoon. I rarely buy comics anymore. But I've been collecting a series that I'm enjoying. As I was browsing, the employee in the store was talking to his friend about some movie they had watched. That's fine. You like to hear conversations like that in a comic book store. Sometimes you even join in. But they were talking loud and cursing and dropping F bombs left and right! Is this a professional way for employees to act in a place of business? I'm no prude and I curse it up pretty good when I'm with my friends. But we're aware enough and educated enough to dial it back when we're in mixed company. I run a business with the public and it's unprofessional to cuss up a storm in front of clients. The two other people that had just walked into the store before me noticed too and soon left. The store lost business because of these two. It may not mean much to them to lose my small amount of business but that's the last time I go there. There's only one other comic book shop in the area and from now on Comics Quest has my business! read more

New Location, new store layout, more room, same amazing service. I love coming by Nuclear to look for comics as it's such a great run comic shop. They have a HUGE wall of comics. When you walk in and look to the right you can't miss it. The first wall panel closest to the window is new comics that have just been released. Then going to the left the next panel is Marvel comics, then DC comics, then Image and other publishers. They also do a great job of keeping them in alphabetical order, which makes it really easy and nice to try and find what you are looking for. In the middle of the store is a shelving unit with boxes of back issues. This is organized by alphabetical order and not by publisher. Then they also have a few boxes for specific writers and events. They also have a Book shelf full of Trade Paper Backs (TPB). You can also find some awesome figurines and statues chilling on top of the Back issues. The store is run and owned by Kenny and he is such a cool guy. His knowledge of comics is immense and he's always happy to recommend comics for you. My favorite thing about this place has got to be the deals that Kenny runs. They have been some of the best deals at comic shops I've seen. A constant deal he does do is 30% off New TPB the week they are released. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for the latest deals and new comics and TPB's coming out. read more

Went to this store with 10 comics and wanted to get them appraised. I was told, "These are 90's comics and they are worthless. We would give them away for free." Keep in mind some of them were from the 1930's. When I questioned him and showed him the minimum value $25 Max value $2000 and average value worth $500 online he suddenly changed his answer to, "Well I guess this one is worth something." He clearly thought we were idiots who would hand over the comics. Long story, short, our "worthless" comics were valued over $900! I can't stand when people try to take advantage of others. Super shady guy looking to rip off people who don't appear to know better. In response to your response, I know there is a retail value to comics. My issue was more about how you treated us as customers. As you stated in your response, you treat your customers as though they are ignorant and for some reason you feel the need to belittle. I'm simply saying in a world where people have endless options they should take their business elsewhere. Unless of course they love "A Few Good Men" references slung at them...you know that other worthless thing from the 90's. read more

It had been almost 20 years since I last read a comic book. Growing up, I was an AVID consumer of stories and basically counted down the time between the last comic and the next comic hitting the shelves. At 41 years old however, a 20 year hiatus made strolling into a comic book store more than a little daunting! I've got to say THANK YOU to Kenny at Nuclear Comics for showing me the ropes and attempting to bring me up to speed on what's happened to the industry in the last 20 years. They even have a great selection for kids. Their free comic book day is always a big event in my family. They give out more comics than I have ever seen any other store do. Walked into the old location awhile back literally not knowing anything about modern comic books. I used to read and collect but the whole comic scene was completely foreign to me. I almost felt weird walking in but I was immediately greeted by Kenny the owner and he asked me some great questions to find out what I used to read and what my interest were now. He recommended some great books and the rest is history! I come here every other week or so now and every time it reminds me of the comic book store I grew up on. Great staff, awesome selection of new books and trades with some solid back issues running through the middle of the store, and they always have some great deals.
