Spiderman comic book
Naoufal O.

This was our first time at Torpedo Comics and i'm so glad we decided to stop in. We were greeted by James , he helped us select some comics for my 6 year old son and my one year old. He had great suggestions. James was very friendly and knowledgeable. we will definitely come back!!

We LOVE this store! Between all the amazing figurines and collectibles to look at and the array of comics, etc. this store is a must when visiting the Irvine Spectrum! The owner of the shop is really nice and informative as well.

New comic and collectibles shop at the Irvine Spectrum. Torpedo is a great looking shop, but it doesn't feel like there's much here to buy (yet). This location opened Labor Day weekend at the Irvine Spectrum. While the layout of this shop is great, I just don't feel like it's anything special. If you want comics, there aren't a lot of choices here. If you want collectibles, there may be better stores at the mall for that. PROPS: Unique location, bringing comics to the Irvine Spectrum SLOPS: Lack of overall selection.

Winny H.

Great store if you want to look for special comics ( some are autographed), Funko Pops, model toys, stickers, or decals. Ranging from anime DC to Marvel. There's a large iron man in the front and Thanos up top. Good place to find unique comics for sure. Two less stars because the staff there literally did not look or speak to any customers. They were busy on their phones. I had questions about some products and wasn't able to get any help. Oh well.

I had just visited the Orange location and I wasn't aware that they had this location in Irvine. Really cool design and different selection than the OC store. I told them I had just visited their sister store and without hesitation the manager gave me a few promotional comics for my loyalty. Very cool. I will be back!

One of my favorite Torpedo comics locations! The statues, the CGCs, the POPs! And the staff... I feel like I've known these people for years!

I went in looking for a new comic book. They didn't have the book I was looking for but they did have some amazing pops. I picked up three haha. Really cool statues in there too!

Demon Slayer Plushie

Finally got to visit this location, was super cool and different from the other Torpedo Comic locations. Huge selection of plushies (which I love). Not a ton of comics, but I didn't mind that as I can buy my comics and still support these guys via online, so if the OC location is too far for you, you have that option. Highly recommend going here.

Box Lunch is a series of stores that sell fun products for pop culture enthusiasts. I have been…read morehere throughout the years mostly to take inventory of the quirky items inside. It was a stroll for the curious. And sometimes I ended up buying a trinket. Like this one time, I bought an Alice in Wonderland coffee cup that became my daily coffee cup. And for those who are a daily coffee drinker they know one knows the contemplation and research that goes into picking the perfect cup. Science may one be able to explain why selecting a coffee cup is a matter of almost cosmic importance. When the coffee was done, the inside bottom- of my Alice in Wonderland cup- had this black and white optical illusion that suggested that the cup's bottom continued down an infinite hole, like the one the white rabbit fell through. Drinking the coffee to its last drop allowed me to see the optical illusion and briefly remember Alice's journey to Wonderland. And for a second remember that adventure is just down a hole that I may encounter sometime throughout the day, if not in the weekend. Eventually, the mug's handle broke in a shipping accident, and on that day the Cheshire Cat eyes teared up a little bit. I share the above anecdote to spotlight the type of product that can be purchased in these stores--- the type of items that are functional but mostly remind us to smile on the daily and daydreams of worlds where we can escape to and be wrapped in adventure. I for one need as many reminders to smile around me because I tend to remember the real world is full of pain and limits. The above was the broad value of BoxLunch. On this particular day, I went to BoxLunch to purchase a token of appreciation for my friend Conrad who is a StarWars fan, and May the 4th was near. The person who helped me first was named Faith. I introduced myself as Buffy. She said nice to meet you Buffy. I asked if she got the joke. She said no. I told her that the joke not landing was particularly harsh as I remember buyig a mock yearbook from a BoxLunch store, so if there was ever a time to meet a Faith was in BoxLunch sacred pop culture fertile ground. Faith and other employees were helpful and attentive. As I walked around, I took stock of all to see, until I found a shirt with baby Yoda that was cotton and cream. This was the shirt that I would get. And for myself I got a dress shirt with an Aladdin and Genie print. I could wear it to Disneyland but I think it is professional looking enough to wear it to some light cocktail party, and maybe it is tucked in, I can wear it to a professional setting. But that is a maybe. Fun and joyous prints and emblems have a time and place, and professional environments might not be the place. This place confirms what everyone knows already--- these stores are meant to be a romp of fun, where you buy items for the fun of it, and if one is lucky the object can be used in some functional way.

**4-Star Yelp Review**…read more **Great Two-Story Barnes & Noble at Irvine Spectrum - With a Couple of Hiccups** I really enjoy this Barnes & Noble location at the Irvine Spectrum Center. It's one of the nicer bookstores in Orange County with a spacious, bright layout spread across **two full floors** and an impressive selection of books. From bestsellers and new releases to sci-fi, cookbooks, kids' sections, and more -- everything is well-organized and a pleasure to browse. Upstairs is still my favorite spot: grab a good coffee and a pastry from the café, then settle in with a book. The relaxed vibe makes it easy to unwind and read for a while. And the location can't be beat -- stepping outside into the lively Irvine Spectrum Center with its fountains, palm trees, shopping, and endless food options turns any visit into a fun outing. That said, during my recent visit the escalator wasn't working, so I had to take the stairs while carrying books and drinks, which was a bit inconvenient on a two-story store. The bathrooms were also out of service, which was disappointing. These maintenance issues knocked it down a notch for me. Overall, it's still a solid bookstore with a great atmosphere and unbeatable surroundings. Clean, well-stocked, and friendly staff make it worth visiting, just hope they get the escalator and restrooms fixed soon! **Visited: May 2026** **Would I return?** Yes, but I'd check the facilities first next time.

I couldn't believe the prices for the fandom specific goodies (i.e. $50 for a small cookbook) and I was not inclined, at all, to get anything like that from here. I understand why people look for digital books instead of physical books. Can't beat the wonderful smell of books tho!

Their pricing is usually about $10 more than msrp, which is honestly so good compared to buying directly from resellers. They're always so friendly too! I also love that they limit pokemon tcg to one item per person. So if they have booster bundle and etbs, you can only choose one of them. They also sell loose packs from a booster box, where you can buy a max of 6. I truly love that they limit everyone to one so that there's enough to go around. We've been able to score some packs for decent pricing since pokemon had an uptake in collectors :) Aside from that, they also sell smiskis and sonny angels as well for about msrp!

The workers, lady and a man behind the registers "checked" to see if they had any stock, they looked at each other and asked if we played there in store. Not wanting to lie, we said no, and they immediately said no that they didn't have any stock. It was obvious they were lying. How can any person with a conscience lie like that to people and lie to family? We even told them this is how we encourage our son to read. But nothing. We aren't scalpers, we want to play the game. As a family. Being treated like that really leaves a bad impression and gatekeeping product for "their" players isn't cool. And if they want to do that they should set it aside and not include it in their stock. Or just say they don't have any. I can be okay with that. But to drive all the way there and ask and be treated like that makes me want to not support your business or play in your shop.

I feel compelled to share the worst experience I have ever had in any store -- and heartbreakingly,…read moreit happened in a place I thought would be compassionate and respectful. A few months ago, after my husband and I tragically lost our son, he purchased a gold Saint Michael necklace for me from this store as a memorial gift. We also bought one for my father-in-law. Both necklaces tarnished, turning our skin green, even though we were reassured at the time of purchase that they would not. Because of the meaning behind this gift, I wanted to do the right thing and bring it back to see if the store could help. When I explained the situation calmly and respectfully, the blonde woman working there immediately became irritated. She told me she could only exchange for another one, or I pay more money to upgrade the chain -- one that was gold-filled instead of plated. I explained that we had already spent so much and could not afford to spend more, especially since we had been given incorrect information when we purchased it. I asked if a manager or owner might reconsider, given the situation. Instead of showing even the slightest compassion, she escalated. I called my husband- as he was the one that purchased it. She took the phone and he explained to her that when he was buying the necklace, someone told him it would not tarnish. They exchanged a sentence or two, she again immediately became even more agitated and rude and put my phone down saying she would not speak to him. Her tone became harsh, then aggressive. She began raising her voice, repeatedly cutting me off, and flatly telling me "that's the policy, we don't do refunds" with no willingness to even hear me out further. I tried to explain again that I wasn't asking for special treatment, only fairness, since we were misled. At that point, she started yelling at me, telling me she had already explained herself, and shockingly -- she threatened to call the police on me and kicked me out of the store. It was awful, odd, and honestly just the most bizarre experience I've ever had. Never in my life have I been treated with such hostility, especially when I remained calm, polite, and respectful the entire time. I even told her that I was pregnant again and that this situation was incredibly stressful for me, and she could not have cared less. Instead, she was threatening, dismissive, and completely devoid of compassion. For a store that sells religious items, this kind of treatment is appalling. This necklace was not just jewelry to me -- it was a memorial to my son. To be treated so coldly and aggressively while trying to resolve something so important was deeply painful and unforgettable in the worst way. I just bawled when I left - shocked and just honestly dumbfounded. This was the most unprofessional and cruel customer service experience I have ever encountered, and I would never recommend this store to anyone. I am only giving one star as leaving no stars is not even an option.

So my daughter called her husband and asked what they would like to do. The claimed manager became very rude. My son-in-law wanted to speak to to understand the exchange as he was told this would not happen. The manager became even more rude. Put the phone down and told my daughter she had explained her options twice. My daughter asked why she was being so rude why she was treating her that way. Then my daughter, said ok, she would just exchange it. Then the manager said she couldn't exchange it. She could just leave the store and threatened to call the police. My daughter explained she was pregnant again. The reason she came in the store originally was because of a bad experience and now she was pregnant and enduring a horrible experience at a religious store?? I will never shop at the store again.
