What an absolutely horrid experience I just had at the old reps fitness supply in Somerville. Apparently they just changed owners and are now known as Fitness Superstore... Last Wednesday, I went in there and bought 2 - 25 pound dumbbells and a 35 pound kettle bell. I paid approximately $1.50 a pound. I spoke to someone yesterday and they told me that they would be getting a shipment in there today around 2 PM. So I called a few times today and they said "the truck wasn't there yet" "truck wasn't there yet" and then finally that the truck had arrived at 5 PM and to get there for 6 PM. When I got there, I waited like an hour while being completely ignored. While I was sitting there, I noticed that they had put a price on a wall of $2 a pound... When I walked up to the gentleman and asked him about the 4 - 25 pound dumbbells and the two 2 - 35 pound dumbbells that I was waiting for, he turned around to me and told me that he didn't even have any and when I mentioned the fact of the price he said well "it's supply and demand... ". I'm sorry, that's price gouging. Plus, they probably shouldn't even be open anyway because they are nonessential.... Word-of-mouth is key and they have officially lost a customer. read more

A super place to go locally for equipment and accessories. The interesting thing I learned on something like my forth visit (yes, it took me a while) is that they have a price matching policy. One example was finding a pair of boxing gloves on the shlef, finding the exact same ones on Amazon for a bit cheaper, showing the person there the price and, bam, walking out paying the lower Amazon price. Reps was recommended to me and I can see why. This one of the few places you can buy new and used fitness equipment. Depending on where you live, they deliver and install for a reasonable fee, making the whole process as easy as possible. I was in the shopping center and walked by Reps - for a minute I thought that it was a new fitness center. It has dozens of steppers, treadmills, and ellipticals on display. Plus they stock energy supplements as well. I am not going to buy another piece of equipment anytime soon - I purchased a stationary bike earlier this year. But I walked in for a quick browse. Sales guy was not pushy. I have no idea of price comparisons. But if I want to check out some new fitness equipment, now I know where to go. read more

I was looking for some exercise equipment , elliptical, bike and had been to places like Sears, Sports Authority and looked at some equipment and spoke to some sales reps that new nothing about what they were trying to sell. I went to a specially store and went through a high pressure sales and highly priced equipment. I looked up Reps and I was glad I did. I walked in and the place has a terrific selection of all types of equipment. The Manager showed us ONLY equipment in our budget explained all the options and let my wife and I have a virtual work out at the store. Pricing was more than reasonable, even discounted us so we can get tax, delivery and installation of our equipment and no cost. Delivery was easy, they called said they'd be there with a 1-hr timeframe, rare for delivery. They came on time put all equipment together made sure I knew how to work the equipment before they left. I wish all other retail stores handled their business with regards to the needs of the customer, fair pricing and all promises kept. I was having a grumpy day, so I was pleasantly surprised that meeting Mitch who owns the store left me in a good positive mood. Well stocked store with no hard sell, just informative advice and no pushing the more expensive items. I have been a long time customer of Reps. My first purchase was when Reps was a small business on a corner in Somerville. They've grown but perhaps too big? I filled out a form for a quote to move equipement, followed up on this form multiple times. Finally I heard back from Reps telling me they would contact me on the day I received their email. That never happened. I worked with another exercise equipment company who was prompt and reasonable. BTW, I also had equipment moved my Reps 10 years ago so I'm (I should say WAS) a longstanding customer. When you're shopping for equipment, keep customer service in mind. read more

I needed an Elliptical for my daughter, so I decided to stop by Reps since a good friend of mine recommended them. I spoke to a gentleman named Chris A.. He was very informative without being pushy and aggressive. I was torn between two pieces and told Chris i'd like to sleep on it. Most sales associates would practically beg you to purchase now and not sleep on it, however Chris stated he currently worked on weekends and would be there to assist me when I was ready. I came back the next day on a Sunday and purchased a Vision Fitness Elliptical. My daughter absolutely loves it. Thanks Reps, and thanks Chris! read more
