The staff were all very friendly and attentive, which made the visit even better. I ordered the Chilaquiles, and they were pretty good--definitely a satisfying choice for brunch. But what really caught my eye was the stunning bar setup. It's beautifully designed and definitely a highlight of the place. I'm already planning to come back just to enjoy drinks at the bar! I can't believe we haven't tried this place sooner, it's right around the corner from us. My husband was looking for some street tacos with a gourmet flair. I went to Yelp and saw the great reviews Nuestro Mexico Tacos & Bar had, off of Calloway and Hageman in the far north corner of the Savemart shopping center (in the old Baja Fresh spot). The vibe is Cool and the service is great! The food was fresh and delicious. We had the Taquitos de Cilantro (free with a Yelp check-in and $35 purchase) the guacamole was tangy, the Queso Fundido came out bubbling hot and soooo cheesy! The street tacos are fun and tasty. We went here on a Thursday evening without reservations. No one was in the restaurant so we were seated right away. We ordered ceviche, tacos, quesadillas from the kids menu, nachos, and a few entrees all for a party of 8. Everything was delicious, especially the ceviche and chili verde entree I ordered, including the drinks. Lots of free parking in the complex and the restaurant itself was clean. We came here to celebrate a friends birthday and throughly enjoyed ourselves. This was a first time for the hubby and I so we didn't know what to expect. The decor is very bright and trendy but it is nice. We were the first to arrive so we immediately ordered drinks. Our waitress was extremely friendly and brought out our vodka presses quickly (even though we actually ordered vodka tonics). Once everyone arrived we placed our orders. I got the steak fajitas and the hubby got the Diablo shrimp plate. He said that his shrimp wasn't too hot where he'd be paying for it later and had great flavor. I enjoyed my fajitas but the nopales had a bitter after taste so I pushed those to the side after a few bites. One of the guys in our party ordered the abondigas soup and the meatballs were so hard he couldn't even break them with a spoon! He also mentioned it was lacking in flavor, dousing it with salt and requesting some Tapatio. He powered through and ate it though. Overall I enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. Absolutely loved my dinner at Nuestro! I've been driving by it for months and so glad I finally stopped by. The watermelon Margarita was so delicious and the cantarito was unique and yummy. The food was very tasty and there was not a crumb left on our plates. The atmosphere is beautiful and our waitress was very nice. Haven't been so excited about a new restaurant in forever ... Happy I found this hidden gem which I am told only opened six months ago! We're going back tonight to try more happy hour drinks and listen to the live music. We were driving by, saw a number of chairs stacked up in the front window and assumed it was closed due to the pandemic. I thought what the heck - let me call... and I was surprised to hear "no" they are open! It is really nice inside, the bar is beautiful. I would describe this place as an amazing bar with equally amazing food. I think it's a wonderful place to come with friends for delish food and drink, beautiful atmosphere but not too stuffy. The drinks are very creative, with good quality ingredients and beautifully presented. I ordered a Pineapple Moscow mule (circa pineapple vodka, ginger beer, pineapple juice) and my boyfriend the Oaxaca Old Fashioned (Patron silver, El Silence Mezcal combined with a mix of a special homemade spices liqueur - a VERY STRONG DRINK). BOTH were very good. We also both ordered a mango pop shooter which was yummy .... I was a regular at their downtown restaurant when I worked downtown, loved it, and am not surprised the food here is so good. I ordered the fish fillet with garlic and onions. My boyfriend doesn't even like seafood but also thought this dish was very tasty, and he said he would order that next time as well. We ordered the shrimp cocktail, that had a lot of avocado and other fresh ingredients, in a more liquid / soup presentation. Very good. Inhaled it. He ordered an avocado and chicken salad which we both really liked. The dressing tasted better than what I thought it would (tomato dressing). I also ordered a cup of the chicken pozole. I appreciate I could get a cup rather than a whole bowl. My boyfriend usually only likes green pozole but felt this was the best he's ever had. Our server Vanessa was sweet, very helpful and attentive. She suggested the churros which we passed on, but after a review of the photos of the churros, I believe we had erred. We also got to talk with the owner because I liked our experience so much I thought it would be a fabulous venue to hold a private event. . . He shared how there was live music there on Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays ....Thus we had yet another excuse (besides the HH which is from Sunday to Wednesday from 11 to 7:00 pm, and food) to return the next day! And we friends joining us too - yep, liked this place THAT much! We are supposed to be "dieting" ( I know this review makes that hard to believe, but I did sub the rice and beans for veggies with the fish fillet and we did pass on the complimentary chips and salsa) but I am going to order the salmon tacos in addition to the garlic fish fillet; they look GOOD! Took some time to visit another location of one of my favorite restaurants. The food here is so delicious and so worth the price. My go to is always the Chile Encuerado, the poblano Chile is stuffed with cheese and shrimp with a white sauce. We also got the trio fajitas and of course you can never go wrong with this choice. The little one got her taco with rice which usually also comes with beans but she skipped on that. They served us what had to be fresh corn tortillas and my daughter took one filled it with her rice and was in heaven. Those tortillas were heaven. The place was quiet even though there was a private party happening on the opposite side of restaurant. All of the servers were helpful and sincerely seemed happy to be at work. Saw the new location and pulled right in as we really enjoy the original one. The food is not quite the same, they tried to modernize the menu which is not what the other restaurant is about. It's more about authentic cuisine. The food wasn't bad just not as good as the IG location. Felt much more like a night club than a place to eat inside. Ok, first off, this place is next to my favorite sushi place: High Five Sushi, so it was easy for me to find. I always love to see local eateries next to eachother. But this is not why we are here today. When you enter into this establishment, there's is one thing you must do. Get the guacamole. It's so good. Obviously, if you are allergic to any of the ingredients, don't, but getting this appetizer will bring your experience up a notch. If you are a drinker and love a mixed cocktail, the Nuestro and the Watermelon margaritas is your friend. The Nuestro is like chocolate milk, so creamy and smooth. Its dangerous because you can't taste the booze. Definitely a great way to enjoy childhood while getting smashed. The margarita is a great choice since it's not too sweet. I love that I'm not being pelted with sugar and sour flavors. Its very refreshing. Food was good. I'm not going to lie, tacos were hit or miss, but you get a lot of protein per taco. I got full off of two, I tend to eat half my plate so take that as you will. When in doubt, go for the Carne asada, so good. We ordered an entree as well. I forgot the name, but it was this creamy, savory seafood dish. It was filled with succulent scallops, shrimp and tender pieces of fish. We loved it, especially paired with the beans and rice. We wished we had the option of having a spicy version. It was good as is, but making it spicy would have been awesome! By the way, that particular dish made for some AMAZING leftovers. Ok so I have to be honest there is no doubt this place looks nice and fancy inside but in my opinion the food is average and way over priced. I don't mind paying for a good meal but it should be worth the price tag and this place is not. The service needs to be a bit better as well, there's plenty of staff to bad they are just standing around chopping it up rather than taking customers orders in a timely manner. Decent service, had to wait an hour or so to be seated. Food was good but a little pricey. Has wide selection of drinks that aren't on the menu. Only outside seating as of October 2nd 2020. About 6-8 tables are open for seating on the patio. Cool comic store next door to check out while you wait to be seated. My favorite Mexican spot in the Northwest. I'm surprised it's not busier. With that said, I like this place because their hand made corn tortillas are the closest tortillas to the ones made in Mexico(Mexico City etc) here in Bakersfield. I've been going to the establishment almost every Sunday for the past two months, and I rotate between their Chile Colorado Dish, Chicken Fajitas, and Chile Verde Nachos. Can't go wrong with those selections. In fact, when I go with a group I encourage to get one of each and share. The food is pricey! Tacos were $5 a piece. I got the shrimp taco and Barbacoa taco. For the price there could have been more filling inside or came with tortilla chips. My shrimp taco had 3 shrimp inside. Presentation was minimal. However they tasted incredible. Definitely some of the most flavorful tacos I've had. You're definitely paying for quality over quantity. I also got the shrimp pineapple mango salad. As you can tell it's on the smaller side for a salad and it was $14.50. There was hardly fruit in it. This is a favorite place for my wife and I. It's close, right near our neighborhood, and it's just upscale enough that it makes a great date night for the two of us. First, the restaurant has a great modern Mexico atmosphere. The bar is beautiful to look at , as well, with a large carved wooden bird holding the collection of tasty mezcal, tequila, and other spirits in its wings. A collection of vibrant animal sculptures draws the eye near the ceiling, and leading it both toward the cosmos painted above the bar, and the energetic full wall mural on the opposite side of the room. Staff here are consistently attentive and energetic. We've never had a bad experience. They have a number of fun drinks on the menu. My favorite has been the Oaxaca Old Fashioned. It's smoky flavors go great with any entree here. You can make a meal just from their multiple choices of taco: Nopales with Cheese, Carnitas, Asada, or Mole with Chicken taco. Especially if you're visiting during happy hour. The discount is nice. My regular favorite ha become the Mole with Pollo. The mole sauce is really wonderful. I've not had better in town, yet. The tortillas that accompany a meal are always fresh and steaming. My wife chose the chicken fajitas on our last visit. They smelled and tasted great. From what I've seen of other's dinner choices, the food is prepared with care in mind, and the presentation is done very nice. All I can say this spot is up there with the one down town it's better then took care of our party and was on point with the food it was my wife's birthday day party and the we're able to accommodate all of us and everyone one was full and happy the atmosphere was nice the whole crew was on point most of the fam left and we are still drinking amy , memo, vanessa ,raulito and damar but... I just got a call 24 hours later saying we owe them another 170 buck which is not cool we were at the restaurant for about a hour or so after we paid our original bill and racked up another 80 buck in drinks no mention of another bill foír food I told the server when we first got there one bill and one bill only and her helper made a separate one so...we were there the whole time and never got charged or was told we had a separate bill so we will not go back again that's some bad customer service I gave them 5 stars but after I get a call 24 hours later not going to happen well... Manager call me this morning and made everything right he was a pretty good dude he said hey he talked to his waiters and waitresses and say hey you made the you deal with it he had no idea that his waitresses called me to hit me up for an extra 170 bucks the manager just happened to be at the bar when I asked the waitress was everything good everything is paid and she said yes and the manager just happened to hear what I said and what she said so he made it right and gave me a $50 gift card and said hey I want your business you know we don't do customer service that way we want to be better and I'm like okay so he made it right so instead of two stars I gave him four because he was professionally he didn't make it like it was my fault like one of his employees did thank u read more

They charge for chips and salsa. Food was mediocre at best. Service was adequate, restaurant was extremely cold, fans on high, most patrons were complaining of cold temperature inside. They forgot to grab my drink until we reminded them, I would of understood if it were busy but it was not. Unfortunately, it appears they're trying to get Santa Barbara prices in a strip mall in NW Bakersfield. The menu is extremely limited to a few overpriced tacos, ceviche, and a few good drinks. My wife and I had two drinks and four tacos for a bargain rate of $56 USD. Yes dollars, not pesos. $25 of that was for two drinks, which were very tasty. The remaining $25 was for four, 4, cuatro, regular street taco little tacos. Not loaded with lobster and wagyu beef, Not phenomenal cutting edge, avant-garde tacos. No, just basic, good quality, little street sized tacos. You know, slightly fancier than a taco truck type of tacos. The drinks were excellent, but you might as well just go up to their lounge a block away for good drinks at the same price. The service was great, the ambiance is good, the flavor and quality is all there. But.....come on, it's a taco bar, you can only get so fancy with tacos before you kill the vibe and trample on the very essence of tacos being for the common man.
