Here is an update (9 months later) on the review regarding NuKey. Having fired NuKey as our 2-rental home property manager, we were relieved that we were finally out of the woods with our problems working with them. Unfortunately not. Fast forward to tax preparation, we found important inconsistencies in the NuKey provided 1099's and the actual cash receipts. We contacted Jen (accounting) and Jessica and learned there was indeed an error and we would have to go backwards and file amended federal tax returns for both 2023 and 2024. Jen cited an error with their AppFolio software. Once we received their corrected 1099's we did file, but simply asked for confirmation that they indeed submitted those revised 1099's to the IRS so we could ensure consistency of records with the government. We have never heard a response back from Jen or Jessica, even after several weeks and many requests (phone and email) to please confirm. How hard could that be? If you are a current property owner with NuKey, if the error was indeed software, it is quite possible your prior returns are not accurate either. If you are a property owner considering working with NuKey in the future, I suggest you read the prior 2025 review by Bob J and ask yourself what you could possibly gain by working with this company. read more

We were unfairly charged $200 for yard care on our move out. We had moved in 1 year prior, and the yard had not been maintained or taken care of at all and looked the same if not worse than it did when we moved out. Doesn't seem fair to pay for a service to pass on to the next people when we ourselves were not given the same courtesy of having the yard cleaned up upon move in. read more

We reached out to this company while looking for a new home to rent because we were relocating from out of state. We filled out the application (and paid the fees) as required. Our main contact was Chase, who has horrible communication. We made an appointment to see a home, however when we showed up he wasn't there! When we finally got a hold of him several days later he said that the other people who were going to view the home canceled, so he canceled the showing (but didn't notify us!). We asked to schedule another showing and he said yes he could show us two properties that same day, we just had to call him back after confirming what time we would be available. We called him back within an hour and got no response. We continued to call him and the main office for several days and leave voicemails, yet we never got a hold of anyone. So we basically wasted money on application fees and wasted two weeks of home searching with this company just for them to ghost us. I have a feeling our application may have been denied, but a simple call or email to let us know would have been fine so we could move on to looking elsewhere. If I could give this company 0 starts, I would. They charge you for Matience repairs but do not provide the legal documentation regarding these repairs making you feel scammed. When I asked questions during my security deposit that I was legally entitled to know, I was strung along with the assumption they were getting more clarification from matenince/cleaning ect. Documentation of being promised the itemized receipt and explanation of charges. Nukey reality also hold only a single room mate responsible for extra 'damages' instead of legally billing all roommates on lease. The owner himself couldnt answer my questions and threatened me with a counter suit should I sue all because I wanted explanation of charges brought onto the rental property. They could care less about you, will take all of your deposit and not give you the legal documents they are required to provide. 0/10 read more

PSA. If you are wanting to go through a realtor for a rental !!! DO NOT GO THROUGH NUKEY REALTY!!! Long read but please do so. I called and ask what the pet policy on a house was and the lady said all was welcome with no limit but to pay a pet deposit. (Duh). So I applied as quickly as I could at $40 an application per person. So all went well, a week later we got ACCEPTED. I was thrilled since we've been looking for a house since December. They said we needed to pay a deposit of $1295 by the next day. I went down there and paid it. When I got there the lady at the desk didnt even have my file set up and said " oh, I didnt expect you to be here this early." ??? You told me to come in so my file should have been made the day before. Not even an hour later I get a call back saying that they had just noticed that we had cats and that it was a no cats allowed and 2 pet limit property. Even though nothing and no one said so. Yet my application was still approved?? I was then told they had another property available and since we were already approved, we were able to have it. When I went to get my deposit back I had said " we loved that house, and we want it." I also shared my issue with the mislabeled add and the other office lady was very apologetic and said it was their fault. I was happy to see them own up. BUT when I said we wanted the house she said " oh well we have to see if the owner approves the pet limit." This made me even more pissed. I got a call today saying " unfortunately the owner only wants 2 pets". So here I am, looking for other listings and I found the original house we wanted and it SAYS CATS ARE ALLOWED, AND STILL DOES NOT SAY THERE IS A LIMIT ONLY THAT PETS ARE NEGOTIABLE. I also asked to speak to the main office manager because the trainee up front doesnt know what shes talking about and not saying the truth and to complain. In short here are my reasons for not recommending this awful realtor: 1) they dont proof read their ads before posting 2) they dont keep in contact to their owners to see what's allowed 3) they obviously didnt read our applications since they didnt even notice we had cats UNTIL AFTER WE WERE APPROVED. 4) they still haven't updated the listings. 5) THE MANGER still hasn't called me back when I left the voicemail on Wednesday. 6) not once did an actual realtor come out to speak to me to apologize. We used Nukey to manage our rental. The last renters they put in our home was Josh's (the owner) son/Nukey employee and his friends. He did not inform us of this or ask if that would be ok/conflict of interest. He also charged us a $500 "marketing" fee when there was zero marketing done for our home. Once I realized he moved his son into our rental and did no marketing, I had to fight to get that money back. The accounting leaves MUCH to be desired as I caught many many errors and had to request refunds on bills over payed to vendors and billed to us. We were also charged for bills that should've been the renter responsibility and they never refunded for them even though we asked for months. The renters (owner's son) also moved in a dog then lied about it when asked if they had a dog. I learned that Josh (Nukey owner) knew about the dog prior to me finally getting the truth from them after they took photos of the pantry for inspection and forgot to remove the dog food in the photo. Then it was conveniently labeled an emotional support dog with no proper documentation and no pet deposit, since emotional support animals don't require a pet deposit. He also had the renter (his son and employee) complete the walk through inspection and photos- of the home he was living in and renting himself. COMPLETE conflict of interest. Based on our experience with them I find them unethical with shady business practices. read more

I would not rent a property from this management firm. They did not warn me that the basement of this house flooded heavily when it rained and then when it did, they did not send anyone to help me clean out the lake that was in my basement. The whole house smelled of mold and I was afraid to use the washer and dryer because I had to stand in water while running the machines. I did my homework and discovered that Washington law allowed me out of my rental contract so I found another house and moved. They took a very large sum from my deposit and, much worse, threw an item I left in the house in the garbage. I mean how hard would it have been to call me and tell me I had overlooked the item when I left the house? I would love to take them to Small Claims Court but it's not worth it for a few hundred dollars. read more

DO NOT rent from this agency!! my boyfriend and I moved in March 2021 and have had nothing but issues with the house and everyone in that office. Our first issue was in April, we were barely able to use the master bathroom, the toilet and the shower were so backed up that feces from the toilet backed up into our shower. i couldn't even run our washing machine because the toilet would over flow. once we got that issue fixed I got a call from the office manager in JUNE saying we are way overdue on our electricity bills. I signed a waiver stating that the property management is responsible to put utilities and electricity in tenants name. I then expressed that I signed a paper stating they were supposed to be in charge of that and this lady argued with me and was VERY hostile and kept putting the blame on Avista and that sometimes papers get lost in translation is what she told me. Poor excuse. fast forward to Jan 2022 I received a letter stating the owners of the house are changing companies and I contacted nukey and asked what it would take to break lease by the 31st when they will no longer be the management and they told me I would have to pay half months rent for Feb... now if I would have had the new companies contact info I would have called them. Why would I pay nukey half months rent when they will no longer be in charge by Feb 1st. Scammers and pocketing peoples money!!!! sounds like we aren't the only ones. Good luck! read more

Nukey realty is in this business to extort the most money out of you they can, claiming literally every thing and anything to make you pay more. They offered to sell us the house we were renting and when we refused to make an offer we were told that our lease would not be ended early but when the market got too good not to sell they evicted us with no hesitation. We then had professional cleaners come and clean the entire home as well as junk removal folks come by. The backyard was completely barren when we first rented and was left in a better state than when we rented as we had a yard crew come by twice a month. We were charged a substantial cleaning fee and junk removal fee as well as charged for the state of the backyard. In summary they will find a way to charge you for any minor thing as well as back out of verbal agreements to the detriment of their customers. I would avoid this company like a land mine. read more

My son was approved with me as a cosigner he was suppose to move into the unit on the 10th, they called 2 days before and said the unit would not be ready but they could get us into another unit! Soooooo. We go look at another unit and it 300$ more bir that not a problem my son makes good money, so the agency then calls and said they have to make sute its ol with the owner! So again they call us back and they said the landlord approved. Were good we just have to bring in 300 more to hold the place cause it wont be available till the 1st! Then 2 days later they call us to tell us to pick up the moneu caise the landlord isnt wanting to rent the house out and they dont have a house for him to move into! I am beyond furious. My son is a single father of 2 children and they have been playing this little game for over a month! They do not answer the phone when u call! They have no communication! I cannot say enough good things about Josh and NuKey management. I put my first rental property up for rent earlier this year. I interviewed a couple of management companies but was by far most impressed with Josh from NuKey, who came highly recommended from a trusted friend. Having no idea what I was doing, Josh talked me through the entire process and assured me I was in good hands. He gave me direction of how to prepare the property and his company took care of everything else. Their advertising generated a ton of traffic and a number of applications. They rejected the first handful of applications. I have to admit I was a bit uneasy about it, but Josh said it was worth the wait to get good renters and that it wouldn't take long. Sure enough, after a few days (and we'll in advance of when I needed the property rented), they found excellent renters at a very fair price. I've had the place rented for a few months and NuKey has promptly taken care of everything that has come up. I travel for work and have a young family, so I don't have a ton of spare time to deal with the rental. It is so nice to know that I don't have to worry about anything, especially while I'm out of town. Josh has many years of experience in the industry and it shows. We are buying from out of state and have nothing but wonderful things to say about Tyson. He has even taken the time out of his day to view a house for us before we To Spokane . He sent us SEVERAL photos of the house that was on our favorites. And was completely honest about all the repairs that needed to be done. Me and a friend rented from Nukey Reatly the past year, with Josh being our main go-to person. This experience has been HORRIBLE. They were very unprofessional and difficult to work with. When I moved in, the place was still very dirty. Clearly not vaccumed, appliances in kitchen weren't cleaned at all. I even found a dead mouse with mold on it in the laundry room! But i figured, ill clean it and move on. Then I found bed bugs in my room!!! That was hell. Didn't even know what they were until this happened. It took 3 weeks for Nukey to get an exterminator to us. We only brought things in from clean homes, and neither of us buy anything off of craigslist. Aside from that, josh gave our numbers to other nukey tenants via a group text, which is a privacy concern. And any time something would break it would take them weeks to fix it. Finally, when our lease was up and we moved out, we cleaned a ton! I bleached everything, cleaned the oven, fridge, swept, vaccumed and made sure all smoke detectors had new batteries and were plugged in. Out of our $750 deposit, they gave us 37.61 back. We were good tenants. Very low maintaninence. The most confusing charge was $361.76 for" cleaning". They're excuse is that they charge $35/hr for cleaning..... so TEN HOURS?! No, F this company. Do not deal withthis company. And if you do, be prepared for headaches. read more

I wish I could give them a negative 1000 score. They don't care about their renters at all! We had a tree fall on the home we were renting threw them and it made it completely unlivable! But guess what??? They were trying to make us pay rent anyways! They would not do the repairs we asked them to for our safety, the roof had broken trusts in it along with bent walls and cracked ceilings and water spots in the ceilings. They only care about making money and helping the landlords. Thank you Nukey for all of my lawyer fees and the deposit you kept of ours. I've rented from Josh at Nukey reality for almost a year. It has been a horrible experience. He and his staff are extremely rude and unhelpful. Every issue involving the rental has been met with hostility. His secretary is unprofessional and extremely rude, when I felt as though she was not handling my issue and asked to speak with Josh, she refused stating she's handled the problem and if I'm unhappy then to simply move out and break the lease. My concerns involved not feeling safe in the rental and if they could give us a heads up when working on things as we've had issues with people hiding in our storage/ laundry area. I expressed the fact I almost called the cops on the worker coming out of said area and she simply responded with "then call the cops next time, it's not our issue if you feel unsafe and we don't need to notify you if people are working in said area." She then proceeded to tell me how she's getting sick of dealing with me and to move out. I explained to her I would be looking into my rights as a renter and she replied "don't try to tell me you know your rights" as if I didn't have any. Josh does not return phone calls as promised and is very unreliable. He's raised the rent and has taken away a garbage can, leaving our duplex occupied by 4 people with one small garbage to split. After months of complaining and threats to call the owners (which I previously rented from for two years, issue free) he finally returned it. Amongst other issues I've experienced I will not be renewing my lease nor recommending this company. As a renter I have the right to feel safe in my home and as an agency I believe my concerns about safety should be taken seriously and unfortunately with this company they aren't. read more

I rented from them for over a year. The landlord will try and make you pay for fees that he invents when you are off lease. If you refuse to pay they sneak up and put nasty notes on your door and then threaten you over the phone that they will send the bill to a collection agency and it will prevent you from getting an apartment in the future. They are slow to respond to repairs and will do the cheapest job possible. My neighbor was made to pay for a plumbing repair and I am sure that was illegal. They have favorite tenants and non-favorites. Each apartment has a different rent amount even though they are basically the same. Only a few have newer carpet or appliances that would make up for the differences in rents. They let some tenants get away with not paying a pet deposit and threaten others if they do not pay. The only reason that I stayed for as long as I did was that my grand kids went to school across the street and I would watch them after school sometimes. They refused to give me receipts for rent payment or late fee payments which is against the law. They will find anything to keep your deposit or just ignore you. One of the tenants I spoke with said that when they asked about their deposit they told them that they did not own the buildings and that the tenant would have to contact the owner for that. They would not give them the information to do so. These managers are crooks and will be reported to the tenant's union in Spokane. read more

The are rip off artists, you can follow all the laws in the tenant-landlord laws and they will still find a way to rip you off. Law states they have 14 days to return a deposit or explain why they are keeping it. Day 15 for me nothing I emailed them they claimed still waiting on invoices. Day 18 I threaten legal action suddenly it was out the door 3 days ago. Weeks later I finally receive the check. The check was dated day 18, Envelope was dated day 18 and they predated the letter explaining why they were keeping the majority of my money. I asked for receipts and invoices. Never got any receipts from them and none of the work actually got done. The companies Facebook page has their rating 4.9 but that is with the owner and all of his buddies rating his business. Stay far away from this company taking them to court will do you no good either He will lie out is you know what just to prevent from having to return your money. read more
