Decided to grab a carry out while I was in the area and craving Chinese! I ordered the sesame chicken lunch special with fried rice(no pork) and veggie egg roll! The serving size was huge for a lunch portion that I could not finish it all. The food was fresh and delicious. I rarely find good Chinese food that I actually like but this place was great and I love the fact that you could order lunch specials on Saturday! Also loved that they have all their health inspection certificates posted made me feel good about ordering from there. Service was quick and it looked very clean when I went in, not really somewhere you sit down and dine in but if I'm in the area again and craving some Chinese, I know where to go :) Bonus points for my beautiful fortune reading! read more

Number one has great American Chinese food at unbeatable prices. The food comes in hot and fresh every time. I have yet to try this restaurant in person but the quality of their takeout outshines most of the competition. read more

I got a large shrimp fried rice and it was very good. I picked it up and the lady that took care of me was very pleasant. It cost a bit over $10 and I had enough for lunch the next day. I do wish they had shrimp egg rolls. read more

Was hesitating whether or not to post review - this was back in February.... Passing through the area. I had a taste for some Chinese food. I wasn't sure if this restaurant did call in orders, so I called them. If we are on the phone and I say "hello, how are you today?" The response shouldn't be "how May I help you" -- felt a bit rude & short, made me iffy about even ordering food (work on the customer service, I'm used to southern hospitality and this wasn't it!) Now to carry on to the food review I ordered orange chicken with vegetable lo mein. It came with an egg roll, and I also ordered some crab rangoons. Minus the phone interaction, the food was good. I asked a group I follow on facebook about a good Chinese restaurant and got the most suggestions from this place. So I with my husband decided to try this place. We drove up there and I ordered from the actual restaurant. First impressions: The place was spotless, clean and all of the employees were very friendly. Oh and the inspection was 100%. I got a shrimp dish and hubby got beef chow mein. My shrimp dish was amazing tons of large pieces of shrimp and were not flaked and rubbery and just the right amount sauce and vegetables. Hubby's beef chow mein was full of tender beef and not overwhelming with vegetables. Hubby got fried rice and it was real fried rice, none of that yellow rice. I did order the fried wanton and that had a funky taste. Not for me. Overall, I was very impressed and will visit again. Did not eat in, but like I said when I was there, the place was spotless!! First, the food comes to you relatively quickly. I never wait longer than fifteen minutes for my carryout order. It also gave every indication of being fresh. My family loves this place the food is always great and the service is fast. On a Friday or Saturday night it can be a little busy and may take longer to get your food so I recommend calling ahead it usually is ready by the time you get there. This restaurant truly lives up to its name!!! Food was served hot and fresh for a very good price. We ordered the Hunan Chicken combo, and General Tso combo. Very great customer service and helpful workers. The menu is vast and delicious with substitutes and/or combo options. Dining area is very clean and a relaxing place to eat. Fast take out Chinese. I never have to wait more than 10-15 minutes, and service is pleasant. Both the egg rolls and crab rangoon are great. OK, when you move to a new spot, I think it's really important to scout the area for a few necessities: good schools, proximity to work, shopping, and take-out Chinese. Really, if you can't get your favorite combo dinner and some pot stickers, just move already. Thankfully, I've got a couple spots along my general routes home, East China off Outer Loop being one, and now, Number One Chinese being two. They're fairly interchangeable as far as quality goes, food comes to you hot and fast, and portion size will generally take me through 2 meals. I'm not exactly sure how these mom-and-pop Chinese places work, as there has to be some type of network that gives the owners access to printed menus and food distributors, as the quality generally is pretty standard across the board. Heck, these places are more consistent than a McDonald's. Anyway, more power to 'em, as I hope this place and my other go-to stick around for awhile, as I intend to do the same. read more

This is one of my favorite Chinese takeout places. It is close to work (Commerce Crossing), so very convenient to grab for lunch or take home after work to Indiana. I am originally from Boston and I am very picky about Chinese food. I have to say, this is by far one of the best TWO places in Louisville which even comes close to the Northeast taste and those who are from there or have visited Boston know what I mean. After 25 years of being in this area, to have only found two in comparison says a lot about the taste and quality. Food is always made to order and fresh. I always overindulge Chinese food whenever I visit back home but this is one I recommend gets my taste on between visits. I just wish they would add BBQ Spareribs as an Appetizer. They get my business whenever possible. The staff is always so pleasant and I highly recommend giving them a try. read more

We stopped here one time instead of traveling to our favorite place on the other side of town. They are always prompt with their service, the food is good, and they are always courteous.
