It's a common mistake but the Nussknacker Haus is not the Nutcracker Museum. They are two separate places in two separate spaces... okay their doors are right next to each other. It is confusing. This review is for the Nussknacker Haus (door on the left.) As soon as you walk in the door- they're everywhere. Nusscrackers (aka Nutcrackers) of just about every shape and size you can imagine! They line all the walls and fill the display cases throughout. Summer Bloom, Fall Harvest, Shepherd, Christmas, Golf, BBQ, Yoda, even Mickey Mouse Nutcrackers! This store happens to be the only store in town where I can find those cute Bavarian cowbells with the white edelweiss flowers painted on them. They're small, but they are still beautiful and over the years, I've bought several for home decor and gifts. Walk around the store- there is so much to see in addition to all the nutcrackers. They also have extensive collections of Jim Shore art, Nativity Sets, figurines of classic nursery rhyme characters and the Wizard of Oz. Lots to see and appreciate. The staff is kind of meh (hence the lower star rating.) I have yet to visit the store and even be greeted. The staff are pleasant enough, but they aren't overly friendly and seem very untrusting (don't worry- I'm just here to look and maybe buy a magnet or two.) They have a job to do and they are focused on it rather than sales or customer service. Be it running the desk or unpacking boxes- they seem to have little interest in the wondrous nutcrackers and figurines through out. It's too bad really - there is just so much here. Someone like me that enjoys the details would love to hear the stories of what makes these nutcrackers unique and special because clearly, each one is. This place was a cute little antique shop in Leavenworth. It has very high priced paintings and art pieces. There is so many knick knacks. A huge area of coo coo clocks which I have always wanted one. If you have the money and can afford it you could get a really nice one for like 500.00. The art work is so amazing Id show you with photos but all over in the store it says no camera no photos. Probably to protect the artist copyright or something like that. There was so many Nutcrackers I have always took a liking to them as well. They were around 100.00 for the smallest ones. Once again if you got it to spend its worth it. I left the store happy even tho I couldnt afford anything. The shop is fun to visit with hands behind your back so you don't dare knock anything down. You would have to drink a lot less on your trip here or eat alot less Bratz if you break something in here.. read more

I hope this is the right store I'm making this review for, if not I will take it down. Me and my little cousin went into this store looking for a Dirndl for her. For reference she is 15 and I am 21. They had a small selection at the back of the store so we made our way there. We started looking at the dresses making sure not to be in the way of other patrons as there were other people looking as well, when a short woman with very short gray hair took the dress I had in my hands and gave it to another patron. Honestly at this point I didn't say anything because it was a little rude, but she could have been having a busy day and was a little stressed. When we found the ones we wanted to try on we asked the two younger girls at the front counter if we could try them on, they said yes and showed us where the little fitting room was. When it was our turn the woman with the really short hair came back to us and told my little cousin she wasn't allowed to try hers on cause it would have been way to big, completely ignored me and then walked away. At this point I stoped her to ask if the was at least another size for her to try on, she replied seeming very annoyed "no that's all I have" and again walked away. She made sure that every other customer was helped, but continued to ignore us. At this point I grabbed my little cousin and just decided to go. We found out afterwards she was the manager. So any young woman looking for a dirndl in Leavenworth should avoid this store, cause not only will the manager try to demean you, but just ignore you completely. Plenty of other stores with not only better merchandise, but exponentially better customer service. read more

Nutcracker Central is awesome. Most of the nutcrackers cost a fortune but if you really want one, you might as well shell out the cash. It's a store for collectors but it's also a great place to walk through and see what's out there. If you really want a German souvenir but are strapped for cash, buy an ornament. On a recent trip girls trip to Leavenworth , a tourist city in central Washington my best friends and I were essentially verbally assaulted and harassed by a store owner whom seems to have multiple reviews of this kind all over the internet. We visited a knick knack store named Nussknacker Haus located at 735 Front St Leavenworth, WA 98826. I am a older woman in her 60's with grandchildren and I was looking to purchase a few ornaments for my grandkids. All of my friends too are mothers and respectable women. We went into the store and began browsing around. After picking a few ornaments each, we went to pay and we simply informed the clerk we were not from WA and would like to fill out the tax exemption form offered to out of state shoppers. We were shocked and appalled to say the least at what happened next. "Do you honestly expect me to fill out a form for this" the young man told us? We looked at each other in shock and informed him that many of the other business owners had actually asked us before we had even mentioned it. When we said that we would appreciate it, a women whom seemed to be the store owner grabbed our ornaments from us and simply went insane. She started yelling at us to " get out of her store" she kept yelling and told us we were out of line for the request to fill out a tax free form. She then preceded to the telephone and started yelling " get out, get out, before I call the police" In utter shock we stood there speechless that we were being belittled for something that is a simple act of customer service. I worked in the hospitality field for endless years of my life and being confronted with this event I truly was in utter shock. Here we were, customers trying to support a local business being kicked out of a store for trying to purchase something for our grand kids. I am writing this review for pure essence exposing the utter vial and intolerable actions and behavior of a store owner whom not only insulted us and treated us like trash, but rather to inform the community of consumers that this business should not be supported in any way. We are the customer, and in a world where consumerism is as easy as a click away, this kind of behavior is not tolerable. I constantly purchase products from AMAZON and any time I have ever had an issue they are automatic in resolving the issue. I am not an individual that doesn't support small businesses, as I too, own a small business. In fact, all of my friends and myself ARE ALL BUSINESS owners whom own Adult Foster Care facilities caring for the elderly. With that being said, compassion and care is something that is vital for the interaction within humanity. I wish I could truly explain the feeling of hate that we felt from this store owner.. for an action that didn't merit even a small act of hate. However, we live in a country that allows expression of emotion... but in this case I am choosing to exercise my right and EXPOSE HATE that is unjustified. I hope you can read this and stand behind me in standing up to this kind of bullying and uncalled for Customer Service.. Still as I sit here and write this, I can not understand the events that took place at Nussknacker Hauss, however, the more reviews I read I can clearly see the issue lies in the Store Ownership and quite frankly the heart of someone who doesn't understand the value of a customer. read more

The Nutcraker Haus is really a place to stop by while in Leavenworth but I definitely wouldn't stop by with children or anyone who is less coordinated, like myself. All the pieces they have are expensive so I was worried about tripping and damaging everything, but that's just me. They offer probably the widest selection in nutcrackers, excluding the museum. They are definitely more targeted towards collectors but they are a great place to check out for anyone. Also, they offer other items than just nutcrackers. I wish they'd put their huge nutcracker outside to promote their store! read more

I'd like to add another one star review to the preponderance of negative reviews on this store. I was in the store twice during our recent visit to Leavenworth and am in my 60s, so any staff should be aware that I belong to a group that is likely to be able to afford their inflated prices. On neither visit was the staff helpful, friendly or concerned with finding out if my husband and I needed help. When I was ready to make a purchase, I was made to feel that I was inconveniencing the person behind the register. I tried on the apparel that evening to discover that the sizing was very deceptive but was unable to return or exchange it for another that would fit properly. The young man disdainfully laughed at me when I asked about an exchange. I'm sure that the prevailing attitude is that shoppers will only come in their store once during a visit to Leavenworth and so aren't worth kindness and good customer service but I have family who live there and so will be back again. I will not be returning to this store and will share my experience with anyone I know who mentions that they are planning a visit. The lack of customer service was only in this one store, not in other stores and restaurants we visited. I recommend visiting the town but steering clear of this one establishment. read more

Stopped by this place over the summer and was very impressed with their selection of holiday incense smokers so when we decided to come back for the Christmas tree lightings I had every intention of purchasing one. When we finally did come back I walked straight to the smokers and immediately found one I wanted. I pulled it off the shelf to examine it and a sales person came over and asked if she could take it from me explaining they come apart. I told her I know they come apart we have several. I scooped up my family and we left. I will not purchase an item from a shop that won't let their patrons look at things and examine them before they purchase. They have no reason to treat us like children. As a result they lost an easy 200 dollar sale. I am glad they can afford to not sell things! read more

My family stopped in this store while on our vacation (3/3) so we could get a nutcracker for my elderly dad per his request, as he likes to collect them. We weren't even 2 feet into the door and the woman who was working walked up and told us "this store isn't for you, this is not a touching store." I thought, are you kidding me? We were judged immediately (because I had my 2 kids by my side) and weren't even in the door far enough to touch anything. She had some serious nerve. We walked out because I have to admit.. I wanted to lay into her for treating us so rudely. I hope the owner pats this employee on the back because she just cost him a large sale. She had no idea who we were or what we had in our pocket to spend. How they can employ such a rude woman is beyond my comprehension. read more

DO NOT GO HERE UNTIL THEY FIRE THE MALE WORKER WHO LIKES TO MAKE LADIES CRY. This is my first 1 star I have given, and I really wish I could give it a 0 if possible. My family drove up to look at the cuckoo clocks in this town and this store seemed to be the place. My mother spotted the clocks and we started looking to pick one out for her, she had money in hand ready to buy one. She picked the one out and she wanted to hear it cuckoo (plus the time was wrong on it). So she moved the clock to hear it and the guys behind the counter couldn't even get a word out saying don't. Then the guy behind the counter turned into a huge jerk. My mother was very apologetic and said there wasn't a sign that said not to, and asked how to hear the cuckoo function and the guy responds that he would have for her. So she thought that was that, and then she asked the guy for help and he replies "you already touched one, I'm not going to help you now". It got to the point where he made my mom cry, I would say if you're thinking about this store than just turn around. He was just very very rude after this and lost the store $500+, he was very inconsiderate and does not belong in customer service. The store has wonderful items, including large variety of merchandise at a VERY hefty price. The cashier was nice, willing to help us and knowledgeable. But I purchased a clock from this store not knowing at the time how much they had raised the profit margin. I overpaid about a 100 dollars. The clock was an original, certified and made in Germany but it came with a price. read more
