I went to NuZen for a pedicure. The tech who did my pedicure was very sweet and accommodating. She did a great job with my pedicure. She helped me carry all of my belongings to the drying station and gave me a brief shoulder massage while my nails were drying. I was also offered tea and/or water while I was there. Very clean and neat place. The two things I didn't like was another nail tech was persistent in trying to get me to upgrade the pedicure service I had already chosen. She was extremely nice and helpful, but to the point that it felt a bit pushy. She also recommended that my nail tech show me upstairs right before I left, which felt like she was trying to sell me on something else. The upstairs is REALLY nice and looks like they would offer a great massage (couples massage as well) so I'd likely go back to try it. read more

We arrived a bit late for our 1PM appointment, but they took us right away. The steps upstairs are like the stairs the heaven. Once you reach upstairs, it looks like the inside of a Vegas hotel! Both the staff and masseuses were extremely friendly and made sure we were comfortable. I would recommend this as a nice treat to your significant other, as they have couples massages! I went on Saturday with a friend. We drove from Queens to Long Beach because the reviews on Yelp were so positive. Not really worth it! The place is beautiful, new and very clean. The Ladies were warm and welcoming when we walked in- we were seated immediately, and offered water, tea or coffee. The equipment is sterilized, they open the package in front of you. My Friend and I had Pedi/Mani's combos with a line. We each spent about $45-50.00. So here is the important stuff; you get multiple workers handling you, my friend had three, one who started her pedi, one working on her hands and another came to finish the Pedi when the first one had to go do another customer???? What? I had two, working on me at the same time. That sounds good in theory, but in reality it turns out to be really annoying! You don't relax. The young woman who did my pedicure was very careful, clearly new. She made a mistake on one of my toes and had to reapply while working on another client. All in all my pedicure is fine...not great, but fine. The manicure was a different story, she cut me, I was bleeding all over yet she never offered a band aid. I have a lot of cuticles that need to be trimmed and cut properly, because she was standing up while I was getting the pedicure to do my hands, a very bad position to be when, I had to twist and turn so she can handle my right hand, while butchering my cuticles or ignoring them she kept saying "don't move!!!!" The owner/Manager came by and asked if everything was OK, my Friend's Manicure wasn't great either. Doing Manicures while standing up does not work. My hands look terrible, the polish is already chipping and my cuticles are still there except where I was butchered! I was having a good day and didn't feel like complaining, but people should be careful, especially when they are cutting cuticles. Disappointing...for the price I really hoped for better. Everyone here is super nice, and welcoming. I came for a massage and my mom got a facia during Spa Week. The massage left a lot to be desired. As someone who deals with regular back and shoulder discomfort, I like my massages to have a lot more pressure, and she was way too light for my taste, even after asking for her to press a bit harder. The room was also too cold, I think. I think a space heater would've been helpful. I can't speak to my mom's facial, but overall the experience wasn't terrible, but could use a few improvements here and there. read more

NuZen has been great for massages! I've been coming here for a few years, and every time has been an amazing experience. They have good customer service, offer refreshments prior to your appointment and do a really great job at accommodating requests. I've never had any complaints with any of the technicians, and I've gotten several different types of massages and pedicures. They also have really great specials and discounts throughout the year, but the service remains the same...absolutely worth the full price! The one con I have, is the new woman at the front desk, who seems to be a bit rude and less accommodating when discussing prices and services. She seems to be more focused on up-charging when they're not running specials, and limiting your choices, then making sure you're a recurring customer. However, the ladies have been good to me for years... and i will continue to get my yearly birthday massage there!! LOL read more

I am not from this area, but I had recently moved here and was looking for a new nail salon to fall inlove with. I usually go by reviews so this was not even a question after reading what everyone had wrote. I will say the nail staff is extremely nice and the crystal gel nail manicure I had was gorgeous... for THE FIRST DAY ONLY. I am a stay at home wife and I do not do any heavy work for my nails to continually popping off and breaking right in half. When the nail tech was finished, she had said if any of my nails fall off to come back in and it will be free of charge. I thought that was so nice, BUT SHE SAID IT FOR A REASON. I find it extremely irritating that my $75.00 set of nails kept breaking off after one day of doing literally nothing. IT was only 4 days before nearly every single nail had to come off. Wash a dish, nail pops off. Wash my hair, nail pops off. Fold laundry, nail breaks in half. I am not expecting my money back, but unfortunately I will not be back. read more

This Spa is equipped with the nicest workers! The receptionist is very nice and knows every detail to her job. If I had any questions or wanted her opinion on something she would nicely suggest anything best suited for me. I highly recommend the nail technician May, she's not the most talkative person but she is a perfectionist. She looked at every detail along with made sure the nails were perfect when I left. I bought a gift card for my mother, and she enjoyed their company along with the detox facial. She was overjoyed with how nice and personal the nail technician get with their clients. She offered tea, and advised my mom of what to do to maintain and better improve her current skin condition. Yesterday, 7/29/18 I decided to try NuZen Spa in Oceanside, NY on Lawson Blvd. I called to make a 3PM and mentioned to the woman who took my appointment that I was a new customer. I arrived 15 mins early noticing that only 3 other women were getting a pedicure and no one was sitting in the manicure section. I said to myself, oh wow, this is great! The experience I will have should be better then in other spas. Wow, was I wrong! As I was relaxing during my pedicure, another woman approaches me to say she will be doing my manicure. I asked why and she told me because they were getting busy. Again, I looked around and noticed no one sitting in the manicure section. This got me really annoyed. As she was finishing my manicure the person who made the appointment for me came over and asked in bare English.. How is my experience, good? You have 2 people working on you. I said no, not a good experience as I come here to relax during my pedicure and since I was getting my manicure at the same time, I couldn't relax because the girl constantly had to reach over me. So, as I was sitting waiting for my nails and toes to dry, I noticed that the same person who was getting a pedicure had the same person doing her manicure.. And again, another person who got a pedicure, also was able to use the same person. My question is.. why couldn't I as there were no other customers waiting for a pedicure or manicure? I am glad that I gave this place a chance. So worth it, now I got a place to go to once a month. The old lady at front was so friendly and she showed me the second floor where the spa rooms are. The place was clean and very calming. My masseuse was Bena, if Im right in spelling her name. Lol! I asked for an hour of Swedish massage and Bena was fantastic. My back left shoulder's been bothering for weeks now and she really focused her attention there when I told her. They offer green tea or water after my session. Nice place it's clean and the girls are nice. ...spa arenid nice and peaceful. My husband purchased and 2.5 hour package was done in under 2 and didn't even get a Brazilian wax because I had one already and opted for under arms. The massage was for 30 mins and It was nice nothing out of this world. Then the mini facial..I was supposed to get an option of collagen mask. Face mask or peel. But never got an option. I asked her in the beginning what the facial entailed and she says to relax and just trust her. Uhm no I kindly said I have sensitive skin to please tel one what she's going to do. So she said just massage a little scrub and mask ok fine. After all of the facials I've gotten in my lifetime I know that they should not be one for all rather than customized. Or at least make me feel like it is . Ok that's was supposed to be an hour together but we started at 10:10 and I was down by 11. Then off to mami and pedi. Girl was nice. Painted ok. Regular stuff. Then when I went to get the underarm wax. I'm glad I stuck to just that and nothing else. She used like 3 strips per arm mind you I don't have that much hair and made me super sensitive. Then to top it off the started plucking like 20+ hairs but they were long enough to wax. Very annoying and painful. Then they still use the type of muslin/Gigi/beauty supply wax. And they don't even apply pressure when they rip the hair instead they run a napkin over you vigorously after. Ouch ok. Ouch. Then when I looked under my arms I had so much hair left still! So I told her and she went for the tweezer again. Smh. Not happy with the service at all so I'm happy I stuck to just underarms. Subjecting private parts to someone that may not be experienced can be very dangerous. I'll stick to my EWC waxes. They have nice atmosphere and good customer service. Truly impressed and so happy to find a clean spa with really good massages and relaxing atmosphere right in Oceanside! I lived in queens for 4 years and Had my share of $35 1-hour massages in no non sense establishments. Nuzen is 10x better than that and is a real treat without breaking the bank. it was seriously one of the best massages I've ever had..Quiet upstairs, overall clean, nice decor. Clean Bathroom, clean rooms, warm towels, relaxing music. I did notice that the towel I laid my head on (face down) smelled like cigarette smoke! The masseuse barely understood English, so I did not bother to tell her, but I should have told the girl at the front desk. I came here for the cozy spa special - $85 for 1hour , manicure, pedicure , paraffin additional $15 for gel mani. I had a spafinder giftcard that my last employer gave to me. FYI- if you're using a spafinder giftcard they deduct 20% off the card balance because they get charged a fee. First time I've ever heard of that, but it was a free giftcard, so I didn't complain. Pedicure was wonderful. Pedi Chairs are very comfortable and gel manicure is great (noticed today it could have been closer to the cuticle) but still happy with it. Good selection of color too. Also thought I should mention that the hair stylist next door was yapping the whole time I was getting my mani pedi. It was a quiet weds mid afternoon. I get it if the salon is busy on a Saturday and everyone is having conversations. But it was quiet except for her yapping at the top of her lungs telling someone that she'll tell a customer that she's not available until June because some customers she just doesn't want to see. So unprofessional. If you're gonna diss customers do it under your breathe or wait till you get home and vent to your husband!!! I booked the ORGANIC lavender pedicure. There was nothing organic, lavender, or even natural about this. The lotion used smelled like artificial perfume and was an unnatural color, like something from a dollar store. The technician who performed the pedicure was very sweet, did a good job, and all the staff were nice, but this was a rip off. Amazing! I came in January for a girlfriend's birthday. There were 10 of us and they were so accommodating! We brought champagne and they served fruits and mini cupcakes. They took their time with each of us even though closing time was approaching. They didn't rush us out like other places. We each had a full body 30 min massage, manicure and pedicure. Apple was awesome! After my massage, she went and got water for me as I was getting dressed. There is an upstairs and downstairs. She helped bring some of my stuff downstairs for my manicure and pedicure. The environment really feels like you have teleported to a relaxing place; for me I got a beachy warm feel. This includes a manicure, pedicure, and 60 minute Swedish massage.There was also a special in place so it was only $85 per person. This was truly a great value. From the point where I made the appointment to the point when we left it was an enjoyable experience. I had a great massage with Apple and got my hands and feet done immediately following that. Everyone was very professional and attentive. We were offered water and hot organic green tea. The sky definitely is the limit. There are numerous services, packages , and add ons. My friend and I have been here twice to get Swedish massages. Clean place and relaxing atmosphere. They offered water and/or tea before and after the massage. The first time we were in separate rooms. The second time, we requested separate rooms; however, they placed us in the couples room. Many people kept walking in as soon as they opened, so not sure if they overbooked. Regardless, we're very close friends so we didn't complain. My masseuse was very attentive and asked if the pressure was okay. The two times we have been there, they have had specials going on so the massage only cost us $50 each. They are having specials on spa packages and facials throughout the month of January. I would like to do a facial next time I go back. Definitely recommended for a massage. read more

In this salon, you as a costumer can get any infection, for example in the area where you get a pedicure, they only use soap and water to wash the sink (no disinfectant spray or solution) the worker used the same towel to clean the other sink and chair, basically the germs goes from one station to another station. Your toenails may look beautiful now but in the near future your toes and feet wont look the same. Sorry but I wont take any more chances. read more

Super clean establishment. The spa inside is so gorgeous! They always have adequate staff so the wait times aren't long if not any wait at all, and the ambiance is so pretty and relaxing! They are clean, neat, polite and always professional! I'm usually here almost to close, and I see them clean all the time. Which nail place you know wipes down the garbage bins? They do!
