Then they hit me with a total of nearly $900. I almost choked. When I asked why, they started listing all these surprise charges like a "glass recycling fee," "static recalibration," and other vague add-ons. At that point, I walked out. I ended up getting a second quote from another company who actually came to my job, did the full replacement, and charged me a realistic $279--total. No weird glass recycling fees or surprise add-ons. It's disappointing to see some businesses try to take advantage of hardworking people like this. Lesson learned. Just sharing my experience so others don't waste their time or money.

However, in my opinion, from the standpoint of someone garnering quotes for a future mirror replacement, the receptionist or customer service associate who answered the phone did not have a good enough concept of (potential) customer relations. After a truly harrowing, somewhat traumatizing freeway experience, I thought the person answering the phone would at least have some kind of empathy or even just a professional, friendly tone. My initial request to speak to a mechanic or service advisor was ignored. Anyways, I volunteered info about the make, model, year and color of the car, but she only seemed interested in the VIN number, which I provided. Any other place asks for all of this info. She actually said I read the VIN number too fast at the end of my reading of it, which makes no sense as I never read numbers that fast out of courtesy. I even took the extra step of making sure she got the letters correctly, but, again, she did not appreciate that. Instead, she rather unprofessionally and abruptly ended the entire call. I've never had this kind of low vibration, low intelligence customer service from any auto-related business. Yes he was able to get the air (black) out of the crack and tried to seal the new crack he made, but just NO....he made it worse. Tried to blame it on the Texas heat for the crack extending another 4" while he was trying to repair the initial 2" crack but NO. After many unsuccessful attempt where businesses were not open or just pricing issues, I found Discount Glass Auto that was glowing with positive reviews and auto glass was their specialty so I was confidence in their work. I agreed to the service knowing the process of drilling a bullseye to relieve pressure, follow with resin filling. I was extremely disappointed with their work when receiving my car. I voiced my dissatisfaction to management and was told "Well, we stopped the spreading didn't we? Our tech does 4 to 5 repairs a day so this looks right to me." I understand the service is a quick fix and cosmetically, it won't be perfect. But coming from a reputable business, I expected "4 or 5 repairs a day" to come with little more finesse to their work. I've had previous repair done along side the road and the work was more acceptable than this. 3 gnarly looking drill holes that I'll be staring at until I can't stand looking at it anymore.
