This is the WORST NAIL SALON I've ever been to. My experience at NY Beauty Spa was horrendous. If I could give this place 0 stars, I WOULD!!! My friend and I decided to get our nails done on September 18th for her birthday. I've made an appointment to get a manicure. The nail technician who did my nails was very disrespectful and rude to me. As she started doing my nails, she gave a disgusted look and told me to wash my hands as if my hands seemed dirty to her. Then two minutes into doing my nails, she demanded I pay first. I told her that I would prefer to pay after because I want to make sure my nails are done properly with great service. At all nail salons I've been to before, they always do the service first and then have customers pay after, which is the standard procedure at nail salons. However, she decided to do her own thing and stopped doing my nails to forced me to pay first, which I had no choice to just pay. I told her that if the service was great, I would pay tip after. After I paid, she continued to do my nails and was rough with my hands. She did not take her time and was rushing through the process. My nails ended up looking horrible and messy. I was highly upset and just wanted the service to be over. I was very dissatisfied with the service at this nail salon, especially at the end. The nail technician lady yelled at me and demanded she get a tip, which I refused based on the service. She then told me "This is America, you MUST pay tip". Honestly, I don't know why she felt the need to say that, as I am an American born citizen and I know the laws on tip in this country. I told her that tip is optional and is based on the quality of service. My service was not good. I told her that I was not going to argue with her. As I was walking out, she said "LEAVE. NEVER come back. You are NEVER allowed to come here again". I thought this was very disrespectful and out of pocket to say this because she honestly delivered bad service and was automatically expecting a tip, while also being proud to kick me out of the nail salon and ban me from coming back. I hope that she knows that I would NEVER EVER come back to this nail salon and I would NEVER recommend anyone to go here. I've faced harassment, disrespect, and horrible quality of service. I came in with some fairly low expectations, having read some of the more meh reviews of Beauty Choice Salon. I think they changed their name, because the signage doesn't say B Be Beauty - more like Beauty Salon or something. You can identify it by the large pink flag that says "NAILS" jutting out into the street. It's a pretty small and cramped salon. They only have two pedicure stations so be prepared to wait. Their mani-pedi special is $25 (+1.65 "tax") and they *do* accept credit/debit cards. It's actually a very clean, nice looking salon - everything looks well put together, the paint colors are nice, and the stations are well lit and look relatively new. They have a good selection of colors - a lot of Essies and quite a few OPIs. It's not anything extremely overwhelming, but it is adequate enough that you don't think they're lacking. The attendants are all pretty nice, and the lady at the front desk seems alright - she can be a bit brusque but she seems very competent. I got Rachel, who was very nice and thorough (except for the part when she took a call on her phone) and overall did a very good job. Her paint coverage was great (no bare nail sides left exposed) and overall I'm very happy with the end result. You can definitely get the same quality for cheaper elsewhere, but I'm pretty satisfied with my experience at BB - very sweet attendants and overall good job with the mani-pedi at an OK price. read more

Buyer Beware! They tell you one price when you walk in and then charge you extra when done. I came in with a picture of exactly what I wanted to get done, they said gel was $30 and another $20 for the nail art in the picture. The lady missed all the details in the picture, and had a terrible attitude when I pointed it out to her. When I went to check out, they said it was $36 for gel and $25 for the nail art! I come here to get my gel manis (buying a package bumps down the price per visit). Normally it's an OK experience, nothing off-putting, nothing to write home about. I am by no means a bad tipper, always hovering around 20% regardless of service, depending on how many singles on me. Normally, my tip is taken and tucked away with a nod of thanks. Today, Melody did my nails and I was few dollars short of a 20% tip. She counts the tip in front of me, and takes out her notepad to tell me that I'm not tipping her enough (um, excuse me?). At $25, BB is a great mani/pedi option in the Lower East Side. The staff is bilingual, the selection of polish and gels is great, and they're careful and clean. My friend and I had a 10 minute wait for mani-pedi's on a Sunday afternoon but the staff was in high gear and the wait didn't feel long. Although they were at full capacity, I still feel like they spent enough attention on me and I had enough space. I picked two Essie colors and they got to work on the manicure first. The seat was comfy and the techniction was methodical and careful. She didn't cut too much or paint sloppily and the polish still looks great four days later. The pedicure was also nice and thorough, and the polish is fab. There are only two pedi stations, so there may be a delay there, but for the most part, things were buzzing along great and I was happy with my experience and the price point. read more

I've been coming here for about 2 years. They have really good deals and packages for gel nails and other services. Lately, I've been going to Tina. She does a really great job for gel nail with the reference photos I give her. She is very sweet and is attentive to little details. When I get my nails done by Tina, they last a long time. Usually my nails grow out for about a month or so before the polish starts to chip or break down. Since they aren't super expensive, the quality isn't the best either, but definitely good if you get your polishes on the regular. read more

The manicure and pedicure ended up being OK because it wasn't that shiny and it wasn't anything spectacular. The second time I went, I went with 3 or 4 other girls and we all got french manicures. I brought my own base and top coat (Sephora X something polishes) and it looked MUCH better than the other girls' manicures. Their top coat really sucks, it doesn't do anything for the polish and it takes forever to dry. I think she's great and definitely takes her time to make your nails look good, making sure all the sides are painted and there are no air bubbles. If she's not there or fully booked nope not going unless she's available. Joey is one of the BEST nail technician I have encountered. (The one before her elsewhere left me hanging literally called up the store and asked for her number but they were being shady little sh**ts so I never went back) And it took me awhile to find a nail technician that I like who does my nails since I am very anal and if one nail it off it will irk the living hell out of me until I get it redone. I have to admit. I was just here last month and I feel like the price goes up constantly! Gel Manicure & Pedicure will run you about $59.96 including taxes; an additional charge to remove the current gel manicure and I believe a fee if you use debit. (not including tip) which cost me $70.00 P.S I believe it is they should not charge you to remove the gel if you originally had it done there & you are regular. I cannot justify paying $70.00 once or at least twice a month just to get my nails done. It's insane. I'm not going to lie.. I'm kind of selfish. I usually don't name drop my favorites that I go to on a regular basis. Then that leaves me out not much of an availability to get mine done with the hectic schedule I already have. Service has always been amazing literally. I remember when I strolled in on Chinese New Year w/o calling to see if they were open. They were opened to clean only but not opened to the public. This is a review for a pedicure only. Came here on a Wednesday afternoon and called ahead for an appointment. Receptionist was very responsive and laid-back--because it wasn't busy. Place is small (there's a back room for other services; massages, eyelash extension, etc but I'm not sure how big the area is) but clean and tastefully done. Two pedicure/massage seats in the back. The lady who did my toes, she handed my new disposable flip flops (love this) and took out tools from a sanitizing box(?). Picked out my color and she got started right away. She seemed to have worked really quickly and she kept clipping my nails way too short, almost to the point where my right toe was in pain. She did about 3 layers--2 color and one clear, and I proceeded to walk to the drying station. I probably spent more time there than in the chair. almost an hour drying my nails and 20 minutes of her just working on my nails. One nice thing was in the middle of the drying process, she came over to apply a clear coat of polish. But she wasn't attentive at all outside of that. I'd probably stop by if I was in the area but definitely wouldn't go out of my way or even recommend someone to come here. Oh one more thing, they have a rewards program. Every 10th mani, you get the 11th free or 1/2 off a pedi. Pedicure was $22. read more

When I visited this place around 11:00A.M. today, she is the only one there, so I do not have other option since i do not make appointment this time because I know they just open so it must be not busy at all. I choose the white color by myself during the time when Lisa and the other lady talks about today or tomorrow is Lisa's last day in this place (also she mentioned she had been this place around 7-8years). For that, I can understand why she is doing such bad work on me, because this is her last day so she probably doesn't care about the tips. I mean, she was friendly and I didn't complain in front of her. ( I mean I still "smile", give the tips and say good bye to them after such waste money and time I had today) But I was in a bad mood while I was watching her doing the work. She was rush as always without any professional skills as "she worked here for 7-8 years", I mean even I can do it better by myself truly. And I was sitting in nail dryer for almost HALF hour, she just kept talking in stead to check on my hand. Excellent facial Spot and nail salon. I came here on a reccomendation from a frequent client who is also my friend. I love getting facials, but more importantly with my acne prone skin, I need facials regularly and good ones. So when my friend told me that she is I love with this place downtown in China town, I shlepped all the way from Brookyn to give it a try. When you walk in the place is small enough to be a small nail salon. But when you check-in and a nice Asian lady comes in and ushers you in inside through a door, you realize the depth and vastness of the salon. On my first visit I was booked for a facial but because I got there earlier I decided to also have my arm waxing done as well they only charged me $30 for full arms. They did an excellent job and I'm always prone to ingrown hairs which I can happily say I did not have too many waxing job. My facial was so good. I know most facials are one hour but this one lasted almost 2 hours they massage is not only my face but also my neck my back and my arms. It was almost like a facial with a half body massage. Can't get better than that:). The facial itself was really good I don't know the products they use but my skin which is very sensitive reacted very well to them. I had a lot of blackheads and they removed all of them. Even though it felt like she went to town on my face I didn't walk out of there all red and miserable with the way I looked. When I checked out the price was a little high for what I normally pay. But I really love that and I took the recommendation of my friend who told me to buy a package of five which reduced the price to about $80 per facial: what's nice is that they even let you pay the full amount in installments of two. I just cashed in my second facial out of the package I bought yesterday and I am still very pleased with them. This was my very first mani-pedi ever so I came in not knowing what to expect. They don't have that many pedicure stations (only 2) so be ready to wait. However they have 4 manicure stations so a lot of people rotate and prioritize their timing. They have a bunch of colors and a good selection of OPIs which is what I generally go for. The nail polishes are on the right side of the room but there are also some hidden past the sink so it's not just 1 long pane of nail polish. The staff was fairly nice. I cut my nails really short because I do a lot of typing and long nails can get in the way. The only complaint is that because I speak Chinese, I knew that my attendant was complaining to the others that my nails were cut too short. Heck she was even complaining to me that my nails were too short. For the pedicure part, my favorite was when she took out the cheese grater (I actually don't know what this is called) and rubbed all the callouses off my feet. Some other places use a filer but I thought this was the most effective way, especially since my feet were so rough from walking everywhere. If I were around Chinatown and in need of mani-pedi, I would come again. read more

I think I'm going to opt out of this place. The place is pretty nice for a facial and the products are great, but the service is a bit lacking and does not measure up to how much the facials cost at this place. The technician was a bit sloppy at some times (I swear I was going to hyperventilate because I thought she might be rolling the anti-bacterial machine tip over my eyes! The thing stings and I don't want to go blind for the rest of my life!). Worse of all was when she pulled me back from leaving to tell me that i HAVE to leave a 15-20% tip. WTF! (Later after I left the place, I had friends tell me that they usually give whatever they wanted to give.) The facial I got was part of a package and was worth $200! Prior to this I had tried several other places and for a good part of my teenage years i use to go to tina lee skin care with my mom. When I first went to Tina she was awesome and always made my skin look and feel amazing...but as time went on, she literally sucked more and more each time. Then i finally found this place on a whim. I always get my facials done by WENDY. She was the first beautician to assist me when i gave this place a try. She is extremely sweet, knowledgeable and does a superb job in the extraction process. She super gentle, and gives warnings that it may hurt and etc but even so I don't know if i just have a high pain tolerance but honestly one of the least painful facial i have ever received. She is completely blunt with me when it comes to my skin. She will let me know when she sees the improvements but when i break out, she doesn't hesitate to recommend regimes that i should try or will let me know of another treatment i should consider but she doesn't pressure me. Overall I love her face massage and the mini back/arm massage. I always fall asleep and walk out of there feel refreshed and cleaned up Janet is my next go to when i cant book wendy, and she is super sweet and does a clean job as well. I just prefer the extractions be done by wendy cause she seems to have a keen eye for all the dirt. But Janet is a good sweet talker. read more
