Old time barbershop feel, despite the fact there is a woman barber on staff. Sports on the TV, the fights when they are available. Lot's of good natured "guy talk"and ribbing. If you have unusual hair they can handle that here. Lot's of brothers in attendance. My step son is black, son mixed race, and both get a good cut here - along with the old man who is white with very little hair left! I believe there is a spa in the back for manicure, pedicure, etc. Place is packed. If not with people - usually - at least with chairs, etc., which contributes to its charm and atmosphere. If they have a line for haircuts, get on the list and hit the Codfather for a genuine British pint and some EPL action while you wait! i called in for my appointment at 6pm on saturday, september 16th at 11:00am. i pulled up in the parking lot at 6:00pm on the dot, i walked in and there was a bunch of people sitting down, im thinking i'm going to be next because i called in for an appointment, he gets done with his current haircut & he tells me im not next , me being frustrated because this has happened several times before, i tell him i called in, he then proceeds to say i came in late and that i always come in late, which isn't true because i pulled up right at 5:59. i wait for the next haircut, he gets done, and he told me i'll have to wait for ANOTHER haircut to be done, at this point i'm contemplating leaving, i didnt get my haircut until 6:42, after my haircut i asked if i can get a discount for the wait, and needless to say i got a free cut read more

Nelly, the waxer and nail tech that works here is the best waxer bar none! I hopped around trying a lot of groupons and introductory offers for different wax services and found Nelly to be the best. Ladies make this great big deal and ritual out of going to a spa in Scottsdale or somewhere fancy looking but it's unnecessary. I know, I tried it myself with many salons in South Scottsdale. I want my wax to be as quick and painless as possible which is exactly what Nelly delivers. Very sanitary, always cleans up and removes sheets. A hot see through golden wax is applied with one of those wooden spreader sticks with a strip to remove it. I don't know what's in it but I know it's not honey. I'm a firm believer I have the most sensitive skin on the planet, ezcema and allergic to everything and this does not irritate my skin at all. Only 3 days for soreness to go away imo. A Bikini or Brazilian wax is about 15 minutes, 20 if you have ingrowns because Nelly will take care of them all and darn it if it doesn't sting but I can't stand to touch them myself! Plus, Nelly has every product to remedy a hair or skin situation like scrubs, creams, in grown prevention, etc. Whatever she recommends - works! Great price, looked it up and most products were less than Amazon so it makes sense to buy it from her directly. *By the way, least painful underarm / airpit wax of my whole life.* I hate hard wax for this and all other waxers have made me bleed and even cry but Nellys method was no big deal! Wow! I hear good things about the nails manicure/ pedicures and see a lot of repeat customers, other barber staff are polite as well. read more

My bf and I moved in 3 blocks down recently and were checking out the locals shops when we saw this friendly looking place. I have grown tired of spending 65+ for a trim every few weeks so I joined my bf in a walk down to the barber today. Good atmosphere and great prices, I love that I spent 20 bucks for a wash cut and blowdry and the bf's hair turned out great. The guy cutting my hair has been doing it for 37 years and comes from a family of hair stylists. The only downside was that they were playing FOX news on the tv, but I'll let it slide. BF and I will both be back for another cut. oh and they do highlights starting at 45 dollars and the lady in the back was super nice and does all types of waxing, manis and pedicures. read more

I found this place on Yelp and looked at how great the reviews were so I decided to try it out. The salon had a great atmosphere and the staff was very friendly. This is easily one of the top 3 best barber shops I have ever been to. My father in law has been seeing Richard for about as long as he has been working there. Sadly, he is going to be retiring, so what time he still spends at the shop is limited. As such I have had the opportunity to get cuts from 3 of the other barber's there. All of which were very good. The best one I have gotten, besides from Richard, was from Natalya. She is more of a stylist than a barber. She does great things with both men and woman's hair. In the back salon area they have a full body waxing room, as well as 2 pedi stations, 2 mani stations. Nellie works wonders for both nails and eyebrows. Natalya has only done my nails, but I wouldn't hesitate to have her do my brow's as well. The best part about the back Salon, in my opinion, is that it just feels like what it is. A small, very personal setting, where you can talk and get to know Nellie, Natalya and any of the others. The barber shop is just the same. Small, but lots of seating, filled with respectful barbers that, once you get to know them a bit, will give you that "back and forth" conversation/jabs that you always see in the movies, but rarely experience. Lastly, the prices are comparable to many other salons and barbers, but the quality, the service and the people make make this such a better experience than you are likely to get elsewhere. read more

You'll be glad you did. MY EXPERIENCE I recently moved to the Phoenix area, and finding a quality barbershop was one of my top priorities. I like to keep my hair short, so I always end up on a first-name basis with my barber. I originally looked at another shop, but they didn't offer appointments, so I called and scheduled one with NY. Let me be honest... I've had a couple bad experiences with non-male barbers, so I was a little concerned going in. I have a pretty simple, straight-forward fade, but you'd be surprised at how poorly that can turn out when in the wrong hands. The shop itself was a little different than any other I've been in, in that they also service female clients (hair, nails, wax, etc). For the macho guys out there, they keep ESPN on the TV and the rooms are segmented, so it keeps an old-style barbershop feel. Emma really knew how to handle the clippers. I'm very particular on how I like my hair cut and she really delivered. She also washed and used a back massage, both were great touches. OTHER COMMENTS: I was surprised there weren't more customers in the shop, but the phone did ring a few times. Apparently they had a string of less-than-stellar barbers come through a few years ago and it hurt their reputation. If you haven't checked them out recently, give them a try. read more

Got to the barber at 3:45 on a Saturday was not given notice of closing time until after closing. Waited until 4:30 when both the barbers argued with each other about who was going to cut my hair.
