My experience with NYC Phone Buyer was extremely frustrating and lasted 5 weeks. Long story short, my employer decided to switch carriers and said I could do whatever I wanted with my work iPhone 14. I found NYC Phone Buyer on Swappa given that he offered the best price. My barely used iPhone 14 was in pristine condition and had always been in a case with a screen protector. NYC Phone Buyer received my phone on May 10th and the problems began when he claimed that there was a tiny scratch so he wanted to pay less than offered. Bait and switch. I said ok because he had my phone and could have walked. But worse was to come..... Unbeknownst to me, even though my company wiped my phone, NYC Phone Buyer informed me a week after he received my phone that "Remote Management Verbiage" remained on it and must be removed. I sent him instructions on how to remove it. No response. Turns out that the "Entire NYC Phone Buyer Office" (1 guy) went on vacation during the 2nd half of May and no emails were answered during this time. After much cajoling and many emails, ONE MONTH LATER (June 12th) he followed the instructions and removed Remote Management. YAY! He then sent an email that he had paid me. NOT TRUE! When I emailed to say that there had been no payment, he merely said that he had reached his Zelle limit for the week. No apologies for stringing me along or sending a false email about payment. He said he could pay via Cash App so I set it up and sent my CA info on June 13th. Crickets again despite chasing and NO RESPONSE! Finally on June 17th, I asked Swappa's to contact him and MAGICALLY payment from NYC Phone Buyer arrived a couple of hours later. To recap, he got my perfect condition iPhone on May 10th and didn't pay until June 17th, 5 WEEKS LATER AND ONLY BECAUSE SWAPPA MADE HIM PAY. read more

They claimed that their digital transfer options were not available, and PayPal would reduce the payout by 4%. I was enticed by NYC Phone Buyer because they offer a 30 day price offer. That's the perfect amount of time from when Apple announces the new iPhone to preordering, receiving, transferring, etc. I was offered a little over $800 for a mint condition iPhone 15 Pro Max. I shipped my phone, and a few days later, the offer was reduced to $695 because of "dirt in the speaker affecting sound quality." Ya, bologna. Anyways, I accepted the offer because it's too much work to get the phone back and deal with all of this again with a different vendor (and current offers are all about the same now). So now, they're telling me they can't pay me via Zelle and I have to choose between bank transfer (which they tried to steer me away from), a mailed check, or a PayPal transaction with a 4% fee. The past couple of days, I've been waiting for the wire transfer. Today, I was told there's no ETA for getting paid via bank transfer, but they can send out a check or PayPal. I requested a check which is going to be an additional 7-10 days to get paid (if they even send it). Save yourself the headache - don't use NYC Phone Buyer. They lure you in, jerk you around, then take forever to pay. I don't feel I'm going to get paid at this point, and I feel my phone was stolen. This experience was just the push I needed to sign up for the iPhone Upgrade Program next year. read more

Well, no, that isn't true. The post office scans packages before they ship, not after. The screen protector was put on the phone before it was even used so what you think you know was not there. No, you are a liar. You never returned the device. The tracking number shows the device was not received for shipping at USPS: 9418436105536241438788. Since you never even sent the shipment, all you did was steal the device. Further you lie because the sim card isn't broken. it appears to be a chip on the enamel. You obviously don't know much about cell phones that you don't know how to remove a screen protector. and the phone was sent in a case. Your business is a total scam, because first I am immediately told that my device will be returned to me free of charge, but then a week goes by and you suck as begging for money for shipment. TOTAL SCAM! Found this "business" via SellCell.com which shows you the best available offers for selling your old phone. I've always used Gazelle in the past, but this company's offer was significantly more so I decided to give them a shot. My initial offer for two iPhone 13 devices was over $500. I sent my phones in and they were delivered to NYC Phone Buyer on May 20th. It took 10 days before I heard anything from this company and when I finally did, I was told that my offer was revised due to one of my phones having dings/chips in it and the other having scratches on the screen. I took multiple pictures and videos of the phones as I was packaging them up and they were both in near-new, perfect condition. My new offer was for $314.11 for both phones. I decided to go ahead and accept the new offer, frankly because based on reviews I saw here, I did not trust this company to send my phones back to me so I could sell them to someplace more reputable. Once I accepted the offer, the status of my submission was updated to payment processing. It took me sending multiple emails to finally receive my payment today, June 5th. The only explanation I received as to the slow processing time was that "we" were out of office. Like other reviews, there does not appear to be a "we" here and this is just a one-person operation. I'm more upset with myself than anything for taking a chance on using someone besides Gazelle. Lesson learned, I will never use NYC Phone Buyer again! read more

Out of all my years trading phones, I have never dealt with such a level of incompetency and unprofessionalism. My first mistake was sending devices to a company that was unknown to me all these years. I only found them because they popped up while I was comparing them with Gazelle and others. I went ahead and did the trade-in procedure through their platform, and their offers were enticing, so I went with it. Well, this is how Feldon and team (if there is one because so far it seems like a one-man show) get you into their game.. to then attempt to lowball you later, saying your device is damaged and 20 thousand things are wrong with it. Then the offer goes down 50% less than what it was originally quoted. The thing here is that both my phone and my watch were less than 3 months Pro Max, and my Apple Watch Ultra are 3 months old and were in mint condition, as described before I shipped them. Now he doesn't answer emails and has not given me a straight answer as to where my devices are. I instructed him to return both devices back to me and that their bs offers were being declined. He basically stole my devices at this point. You that like to read reviews before trying a service, RUN. Go work with Gazelle, Swappa etc.. but do NOT do business with this joke of a "business" opened in someone's apartment. It is not a coincidence other people are describing the same issues here. He's legit running a scam, and nobody else should fall for this moving forward. After tomorrow, we'll do the due diligence legally to get this resolved. sent my two iPhone 11s in for trade Due to them providing the best offer. Due to low battery (which I would expect from iPhone 11) the offer was an about 1/3 of the original offer. I didn't feel like dealing with it anymore so I accepted the offer And got confirmation of my Zelle deposit. I had to contact them that I never got the Zelle. Then I was told the company had exceeded their limits for Zelle and Venmo and I could use PayPal if I wanted to pay a 4.5% fee. I asked for my phones back. They ignored me and waited several days before responding to say they finally got my low ball offer deposited. Very poor customer service and business acumen. Don't recommend using them. read more

If you look at Reddit or Better Business Bureau, the pattern is remarkably consistent: 1) make customer a high offer, 2) when customer accepts and sends in phone, claim that there's a defect in the phone and dramatically lower the offer, 3) if customer declines the updated (lower) offer, delay returning the phone, 4) if customer accepts the offer, claim an issue with Venmo/ Zelle/ etc., and send a paper check, which will bounce. read more

First they low balled me on the offer, stating it was in fair condition. In reality, it was in excellent condition, both internally externally. After weeks of waiting for payment, I sent a text and was informed that they no longer sending checks. They asked for me to submit my bank information, which I did and told that I would get my payment direct deposited the following week. Two weeks then went by and no payment was received. I reached out by text, no response. I sent emails, no response. I called trying them directly, they conveniently never answered the phone. Left voice mails and no return call. They lure you in with a higher offer, then make up fake reasons to lower their offer upon receiving your device. My phone fit the 'average' condition exactly. There was no mention about screen replacement not being allowed. This isn't even mentioned in the description for 'good' or 'flawless'. The screen was replaced and in perfect functioning condition with no scratches or cracks, as required. However they are now reducing the offer from $223 to $68 for this bogus reason. You're better off trading in directly with AT&T or the like - at least these are large companies that are held accountable, unlike these thieves. read more

They came back with a lower offer then they originally quoted (watch was in perfect condition as it was never used) and my son accepted because it was already taking so long. I accepted the offer and they promised to pay me through Zelle but I did not receive the payment. I called after 3 days and they said that we have issue with Zelle and we can send you payment through check. I got the check after 10 days and it was not cashed out because of insufficient fund. They stopped responding me and finally I contacted them after many days and they promised me to send payment through PayPal. It took one week to receive the payment through PayPal and I got $450 after PayPal fee. it was so frustrating and waste of time to deal with them. I wish I could rate them 0 zeros. I sent in two iPhone to NYC Phone Buyer LLC at the end of September. After 6 days, I received a confirmation that they had received the package and that they would be inspecting the items soon. Nine days later, I received an email stating they had inspected my devices and revised the offer for both devices. Both devices were in excellent condition, but I agreed to the lower amount knowing that they would either not return my devices or would return them with damage done to them (Do something that I didn't: take lots of pictures before sending any device for trade in!). With the lower offered accepted, I was notified that payment would be made "soon." I waited 10 days for the payment to be received and nothing ever arrived through the agreed upon method of Venmo. I followed up and was notified they would need to look into it, but no further communication was received. I have sent multiple additional follow up requests and have yet to receive any additional communication. I no longer have possession of the devices, nor was I paid for the devices I sent in.
