The shielding panel under our car broke and was dropping down and hitting the road while on interstate 5. We were so lucky to have this happen near O'Brien's Auto Repair. We showed up and within a matter of minutes they had our car up on a lift, quickly figured out what the trouble was, resolved the problem and had us on our way. They were so nice and the customer service was amazing. If we lived in this area we'd bring all of our cars to O'Brien's. Needed my car smogged for registration and called O'Briens. My handyman had just changed the battery and realized it wouldn't pass smog so Tish came and picked up my car. She took it home with her and drove it around that night, she took it in and it passed! It was delivered back to my garage that evening. Doesn't get any better than that! 1-2-20 Once again, OBrians comes through! Battery died in my garage and they came by picked it up. They returned the battery and got me a new one, and replace it! This summer, I was on a road-trip from Los Angeles to Portland on a friends borrowed car. The car gave out and AAA towed me here. Customer service was phenomenal and the ladies in the office really took care of me. To be frank, I forgot what the problem(s) on the car was but I remembered they ordered and installed a new battery for me. Back on the road again, and one hour later, a band on something else broke and I had to pull over, again. This car was clearly not maintained. I called Tish from the auto shop, and her and her mechanic drove an hour to me and fixed the car on the spot. They literally saved me. We broke down 1 mile from Willows driving from Southern Cal and going to Seattle where My daughter was Moving. My car had no more power ... pulled off freeway and looked on Yelp and checked many auto repairs shop and my guardian angel guided my eyes to O Brien auto repairs .She had from far the best reviews on Yelp so I called O'Brien and got Tish, the owner. Right there , within seconds she put me at ease and I felt I had someone who will be on my side . We were able to drive to O Brien and immediately welcome by 2 charming ladies . One was the owner Tish.This office was busy as It can be( not surprising considering the quality of work they provide !)but within minute she has someone look into our car(? That fast?)within one hour we already knew what the problem was and cost ( whaoo!!) Tish said immediately to us . " you need to spend the nite here In Willows , "l" will drive to Chico tonite and get the piece that needs to be changed. Get a hotel and I'll give u a ride! Meanwhile I ll take care of ur car!( no cab in Willows).Tish is a dream! Sure enough ,next day ,work was already done by 11 am.(u r kidding ?!that fast?) I was on a road trip with a friend and her alternator gave out. Our incredibly entertaining tow truck driver recommended dropping it here as well as some insight on the city of willows and all its glory. The next morning I called and they said they were already working on it. They were very informative, organized and detailed. They had it done by noon and were nice enough to pick us up at a restaurant we were at and take us to our car. The price was a little high, but considering they got us back on the road as fast as they did and were extremely nice and accommodating in the process. read more

Four point five. Okay, I'll round it up to give it a five. Me: Just handed the opened, perishable, groceries to a very hungry looking woman at the parking lot at Walmart. I didn't want to deal with making sure they got in the fridge in time, and she looked like she needed them. Drove into the closest gas station aaaaannnd.... Steam. Soaring temperature gauge. Big sigh. dammit. Willows is not known for its vibrant night, or car repair life. Trust me. And it was over 100 degree heat. Called AAA. Big 'ol trucked pulled in for my little ol' car. Nice guy, professional, competent. Told me the only people who will do foreign cars was this place. Me: "You sure? It looks like a simple fix." Him: "It's a BMW lady, those Germans do all kinds of weird things with cars." He put my car up on that big ol' truck and took me all the way (eh, about a mile) into town. Waved at the guy who kinda sorta greeted us. But looked like he didn't want another car. Dammit. Though it looked like they didn't need my business, nor particularly want it, they found a spot for my car. (Seriously, is the real estate that expensive in Willows? There was no room for my car!) No one really talked to me, but I got the impression that they might get to it... sometime. Like, this week or so. But then, no one really talked to me. Got an estimate. Hourly rates were $85 for labor (my guy in the city is $90, so I was a bit taken aback. I mean, it isn't like the housing market is fast a furious there.) But what can you do? I was about 172 miles from home. Dammit. And I was getting sunburned. Sigh. I grabbed all I could carry of my electronic and camera equipment from my car, about 50 pounds worth of stuff, and hesitantly said goodbye to the rest. Cringe. Tow truck guy, who was a pleasant companion and champion through all this, took me back to the Walmart to wait for my Mom and Dad to save their daughter, yet again. Walmart was the most likely air conditioned spot I could think of to wait the hour and a half. Did you know the Walmart in Willows does not have a Subway or McDonalds? Dammit. I lugged my 50 pound bag to Nancy's Airport Cafe across the street. M and D came, and as soon as we were back in Redding, we all went into gear. I looked this place up on the internet. Mom called family who lived in Orland. Dad did something. I don't know. Probably avoided all this frantic, feminine activity. Anyway, next day, we called. Car was ready. All was well. Cost was more than fair. So, final verdict? Like a doctor who has done a thousand knee replacements, you may not love his bedside manner, but you go because he is good and you trust him. Same thing for this place. The bedside manner didn't sing for me, but they treated me right. And that is what really counts. read more

Everyone at O'Brien's was very helpful and personable. Like many, my car was experiencing some electrical issues on my long distance trip. I stopped off at O'Brien's and they helped me out, got my car repaired very quickly and even made sure to run a few more tests than normal just to ensure I wouldn't experience more issues on the rest of my six hour trip home. If your car doesn't pass smog you have to pay for the second one as well.. opposed to other shops who provide your second smog test for free. Customer service wasn't good at all. Everyone seemed to be annoyed by my presence. Do not recommend at all!!! read more

Received excellent & prompt service @ O'Brien's Auto Repair! Birdie hand delivered a gallon of transmission fluid & a funnel to the Willows rest stop where my husband & I were stranded. We filled up what transmission fluid we had lost & then followed her in our Jeep Grand Cherokee to the auto repair shop. That saved us the time of having to wait for a tow truck. The mechanic immediately stopped what he was doing to access the leaking transmission fluid problem. He replaced a defective hose, and we were back on the road a few hours later to meet our SoCal friends to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday! While overheating on the freeway I found the closest place that could get me in asap. I was on a 800 mile roadtrip alone and so scared. They weren't able to fix all the damage that has been done to the truck but they let me stay all day and helped me pick up and load a uhaul with my belongings. Best service you can ask for! My windshield wipers broke in the middle of a storm and I was three hours from home - O'Brien's did everything they could to help me! They did their best to rush order new parts for my car, offered to work on a Saturday morning to get it fixed as fast as possible, and drove me to a hotel for the night. Took a blind leap of faith and had my car towed here. It was Sunday and they were closed. I dropped my keys in the box and left a voice message. A friend picked me up and took me home to Sacramento. Car wouldn't start...called manufacture and he recommended getting the started tested. O'Briens had me tow my vehicle to them that late morning, diagnosed the starter was bad. They worked with the Warranty Protection Plan personnel from the plan I purchased when I purchased the used car and had me back on the road before noon the next day...with NO out of pocket expenses. O'Briens mechanics even contacted the car manufacture to get the radio code and had my tones operating again before I picked the car up. Can's say enough good things about this place and their staff.
