    The O'Brien's slogan!
    Katie M.

We came to O'Brien's Market on Roseburg Avenue inside the Roseburg Square shopping center. Came for some sandwiches and a pint of egg salad. I'm soooo happy that there is a place that still has egg salad sandwiches!! It seems to be a "dying breed" around here. So, I purchase the container (ranging from 1/2 pint to quart) of egg salad to make a deconstructed sandwich. I eat it with wheat thins and bacon. They have bacon by the slice in the deli and it is delicious. I love my bacon crispy, and boy is it good! The last time I got the egg salad it was a little dry, and there were giant pieces of dry yolk-- yuck. Thankfully, this one was good. My son and his dad each had a regular sandwich. My son had turkey, provolone, spinach, black olives, some condiments, salt and pepper on a white roll. He likes a cheese bread too, but few places have that anymore. :( He really enjoyed his sandwich. His dad had a ham and swiss sandwich on a white roll. I don't remember all the trimmings, but he said there was a decent amount of meat on both sandwiches and was happy with that. I tried to sign up for their digital sandwich punch card, but I had some technical difficulties. Bummer, because we like to come here and would like to get a sandwich free. However, not much luck figuring it out. I think it is buy 10 sandwiches, get the 11th free. Almost anything free you can count me in! :) The Chobani yogurts were on sale for 99 cents! My son and I both eat those, so I was happy with that price. Obriens tends to be a more upscale grocery store. There motto is "the best place for fresh!" They are really good about making sure nothing in the store is "coded" or expired. They have a little clearance section where one can find cheaper items that are about to expire. It is nice on the pocketbook if you find the right item you are looking for! Oh, I forgot to buy the secret sale item. If you sign up for emails you will recieve a secret sale item and this week is a pretty good one! The two workers in the deli were nice to talk to and they did a good job preparing our food. Great customer service! My only small suggestion is that the meal deal (a bag of chips and a soda) be more clear. The person helping us said it included the chips in two places, we were excited to get the Doritos nacho chips, the cashier and the manager on duty said no. The combo price wasn't working at the register and we had to go back and get different chips. Kind of a pain, but not the end of the world. Thankfully, there wasn't anyone else in line.

I needed a few last minute thanksgiving items about a month ago & I saw the obriens ad with pumpkin pies for $4.99! I couldn't believe the price and on top of that it turned out to be one of the best pumpkin pies ever! When in the store picking up other items, a nice worker offered me a cart since she saw me with my hands getting full. Everyone was so nice! Theres just a really good overall vibe in this location. Bonus points for still having bakery bagels in the afternoon (plus they were still fresh & chewy the next day).

I come to O'Brien's every so often to grab a deli sandwich, a bakery item, and to do some shopping when they have sales. The deli sandwiches are very good. Service at the deli counter is generally very friendly. My deli server tonight was exceptional. Service at the check out stands can be a bit hit or miss. Overall though, I have no major complaints. They also have a sandwich club where you can earn a free sandwich after a certain number of sandwich purchases. Be sure to sign up for it. If you are shopping here for groceries, their pricing is a bit higher with the exception of sales ad items. Their sale items are very competitively priced. They also have some items on clearance and you can grab a bargain here if you are lucky. Who doesn't like a bargain? This particular location is older and is not as nice as their other locations, but it is kept very clean. I often shop at the Dale road location which is larger and dare I say fancier. Be sure to check out the other shops in Roseburg Square while you are here.

So we ordered 3 sandwiches and decided to try out the turkey club and the Jason. The turkey club was delicious. It was nicely toasted but the Jason was garbage! The bread was stale the chicken was skimpy and dry. My sandwich had more jalapeños than chicken lol. Super dry with only mustard they didn't even bother putting mayonnaise on the damn thing. Made my gums bleed it was so dry Not even being funny, I provided the pictures here. I forgot why I stopped getting sandwiches and today I remembered why

Classy grocer!…read more O'Brien's Market is definitely a high-end local grocery store. They offer a wide variety of "typical" grocery store items as well as some more artisanal products as well. They have a nice bakery, hot food section, deli, salad bar, wine bar, and meat/fish counter. There is a huge gourmet cheese selection - literally any cheese you may want (cow's milk, goat, sheep) from nearly any country, they seem to have it! They often offer samples (if I remember correctly, if you want to try a particular cheese, they will give you a sample of it)! There are soups, sandwiches, salads, and other hot foods like mac n cheese. The quality of the meats is great! Everything is very fresh and well-maintained. The produce is very fresh too! Although many of these products are higher-priced, their other grocery items (i.e. canned/boxed/bottled/frozen foods) are much surprisingly cheaper than other grocery stores. The store is consistently clean and organized. The store hasn't been updated/remodeled but it still has a timeless design that looks very neat. The staff members are very friendly and will quickly help you whenever needed. The store is never busy and you will rarely have to wait in line. I definitely recommend shopping at O'Brien's Market and will be back!

I also tried to buy some heirloom tomatoes but their Best Buy date was nearly a week before the date I came shopping and were all squishy. This location is horrifically crowded. No matter the time of day, it is super busy and you can barely walk down the aisles. Everyone is bumping into each other and walking the wrong direction, making the shopping experience really miserable. I would love to walk around the store and take time to browse but I cannot bear to stay in there longer than a few minutes because I don't want to get bumped into. The parking experience is similar. There is never any parking and you'll need to circle the lot for probably 10 minutes before you find a space. Regardless, the store is pretty organized and the shelves are well-stocked. I've had mixed experiences with the staff. The majority of the time, the crew members really encapsulate the friendly and kind-hearted nature that Trader Joe's employees are known for. However, my most recent visit was unfortunately different. When asking for my ID for an alcohol purchase, I wasn't even asked. The cashier, without even looking up from bagging very curtly said, "give me your ID." Her demeanor was not welcoming and rubbed me the wrong way a bit. I would recommend those to come here only if they need something in particular and if you have the whole day to spend looking for parking and crawling around the store.

We tried both the roasted garlic & herbs as well as roasted garlic & jalapeno and herbs. Both were an amazing addition. Another delicious treat was Hunter's pistachios. These are not simply dusted like you may find at the market, they really flavor them well and you can see and taste the seasonings on the shell.
