I look on Amazon and Etsy and either they did not have what I was looking for or price was outrageous. I needed custom length shelving and needed it quick at a reasonable price. Shaun at Gopherwood Build and Design was a complete by chance encounter. I went on to Yelp and looked up wood working companies and a few showed up including GW with one lonely review but something about the name (caddy shack fans will understand) captured my attention. So I reach out to Shaun and a bunch of other wood craftsman. I'll give you a guess why I would choose a company that only had one review, not much info online and a physical address that takes you to the Yakult factory (I would have taken the tour). Shaun was the only person to ask details about what I was looking for and the project it was a part of. Everyone else just gave me a quote for floating shelves in the measurement that I provided. Shaun talked me through the project and we ended up with shelves that are completely different measurements, and not because of profit but because he took the time to talk to me via phone, text, photos, FaceTime to help me with my project. We must have over 50 texts going back and forth about the color, the measurements, the installation plan. This guy actually took the time to listen to his client, provide feedback and offer his insight. And to top it all off, he was able to turn the project in a few days and the quality of work is amazing! Pricing is very reasonable! Communication is epic! Customer service is world class! Craftsmanship is great! My next project is taking a cheap Wayfair table and putting a real wood table top and repurposing or up salvage my cheap furniture. Thanks Shaun! Seed did earthquake reinforcements to the foundation, wall & ceiling insulation, new electric, plumbing, HVAC, lighting, new solid hardwood floor, exterior finishes, windows, new roof and exterior hardscape, and finished the garage (now an office/workshop). Seed constructed gorgeous custom built-in wood interior casework (shelves, closets, floor and ceiling moldings) in every room. Seed redid the bathrooms (stone and tile flooring, shower/bath tile, custom vanities, shower enclosure, plumbing, fixtures) and a down-to-the studs all-new kitchen (stone floor, tile walls, gorgeous custom built-in wood cabinetry, plumbing, lighting, appliances). Seed constructed a highly-engineered new deck: poured concrete footings, installed structural beams, decking, and steel frame for a vendor's drop-in electric louvers (a movable patio roof). Seed did an excellent job on all of these trades and I am extraordinarily happy with the high-quality and superb craftsmanship of the work. Seed brought highly-skilled employees and a wide array of sub-contractors to my job, who all did excellent work. Seed's owner Reeve Schley attended my weekly construction project meetings, is refreshingly straight-forward; he did what he said he would do, when he said he'd do it. Note: I am just getting around to Yelping many service providers I used in the past couple of years. This is one of them. This service provider was a referral from a Counter top installer I have used in the past. Douglas came through for me when others simply refused to quote the project or were asking for an insane amount of money, which in my book, meant they did not want the job. Douglas understood what I wanted and why. His price was fair. He met his delivery date and produced exactly what I wanted, paint grade quality products. The back story: We had a water leak from an upper level bath tub Diverter Spout. The water ran down walls destroying six of them. All six walls were stripped down to the framing and had to be rebuild. I previously mentioned to my husband I wanted to utilize the space under the stairway for storage. Knowing we had to rebuild the walls, my husband said time to create the storage space you want! We moved the wood studs (visible in image 1) over slightly to allow the required openings needed and to maintain stairway support. See Images 2 & 3 to view his work / installation in progress. We added the Moulding trim (found at World of Moulding in Santa Ana, CA) to frame and finish the new door and drawer. We then painted the newly installed items to match other Doors and Moulding in our home. (see images 4,5 & 6). I love when I see my ideas become a reality! We were tearing out our large tub shower and making it a walk in. We interviewed about 10 companies and Da Vinci has the most comprehensive bid and some of the best pricing we found. Ron was easy to reach all along the way. His construction crew was efficient and knowledgeable. Pedro over saw the demo and install and has years of experience. He did everything to code. Pablo worked his tail off demo'ing and rebuilding our new walk in design. Jorge did the most AMAZING Tile job. It was perfection. All lines and measurements and spacing was to a tee. The Hot mop company was excellent also! The finish flooring crew came in and worked quickly and installed everything to spec. We had some plumbing issues once the demo was done and needed to do some changes to that. The Plummer who came out from the company was quite pricey so we were able to contract our own separately at a much lower rate. We used Nick from Sterling pluming. Honest and reliable and upfront with all of his pricing! The shower glass door was included in the bid. Very nice since most others had that as a separate line item. The shower door is beautiful but had a small leak in seal at bottom. The company was suppose to call us back to come and better seal it but never called us. My husband easily bought his own caulking and repaired it himself. We bought our tiles at MSI in Orange. One of the best and largest and gives all kinds of free samples. Highly recommend them. I also highly recommend picking your shower plumbing and supplies from Ferguson Plumbing . Their showroom in Irvine was GORGEOUS! And they were so knowledgeable. They take walk ins but make an apt if going on a weekend. Our shower is gorgeous and turned out to be our dream retreat. Thanks Ron!
