Even though I explicitly asked what a "white chocolate turtle tea" is and got an answer, I'm not sure I could explain it. I gave it plenty of time to steep, but when I did drink it, the taste was more white chocolate and various other sweetness and less actual tea, which is not quite what I like but I suppose it's my fault for ordering something so obviously overindulgent. What a fun spot to stumble upon in a hot summer day! I live in Asheville, NC and I've been saying for years that we need a bubble tea cafe in town. Unfortunately, that still hasn't happened so I was pretty excited to find O-CHA! O-CHA has some pastries and other menu options but the star of the show is definitely the teas. You order your flavor of tea (taro, honeydew, strawberry, coconut, etc), select your bubble type (tapioca balls or jellies) and if you'd like it chilled or iced, kinda like a slushie. The tapioca balls are black tapioca balls that are rubbery and slightly sweet. The jellies are little square tropical flavored gelatin chunks. I went for the honeydew slushie with tapioca bubbles. They had some awesome flavors but honeydew bubble tea is really nostalgic to me because it brings back memories of my first time ever drinking bubble tea when I was about 17 years old at Cornerstone festival in Illinois in insane heat surrounded by a bunch of dirty punk rockers. haha. Good times! And it didn't disappoint. Their bubble tea is very sweet and very cold and very refreshing. My husband ordered the coconut with jellies. We were both pleased but both wished we had ordered the small sizes because they were soooo sweet. I was happy too because of it's thick creamy texture, it really filled me up and satisfied both my hunger and my thirst. This place is super, duper cute. Tons of flavors to chose from! I love how you can customize the tea choice and add tapioca pearls or jellies. They also had frappe versions of the teas, perfect for a hot day! I selected a cold mango tea it was very sweet and I wish I was given the choice to make it not so sweet. There's lots of awesome flavors like honeydew and strawberry. I have visited downtown Greenville twice now. The first time I happened upon this shop and had to give it a shot. It was permanently imprinted on my memory so I knew I was going back again on my next trip here. I found it to be just as good the second time around. They really know tea here and are fully considerate when you express interest in having yours unsweetened (because yeah that's weird in the south) or want to know the more detailed and intricate flavor patterns. They also have bubble tea here. (Read Chloe F's hilariously entitled-sounding review. No they don't having popping boba. Get over it, it's not a requirement.) I always go for green tea, straight. The person taking my order kindly gave me another cup full of ice because I don't like my hot beverages scorching. It worked out perfectly. Prices aren't bad for true quality tea and product knowledge on a beautiful riverwalk waterfront, no less. You can stay and hang out in their little seating area or walk around outside with your drink. From what I've seen they also appear to have ice cream mochi?! In the mist of my confusion on what to try , the girl at the front counter was amazing with helping me decide what to try. I felt like it took me forever to decide what I wanted but she was really patient and understanding. She recommended that I try the passion fruit bubble tea which was both flavorful and fun to drink with the cherry balls that just explode in your Mouth . We went to the peace center for a show and after we decided to try this boba place out. Not a fan at all. First they ran out of boba so there was a wait for our drinks because of that. I got black tea with passionfruit. The tea was ok but very light in color. Have no idea if there was any tea in it. The boba was the worst boba I have ever eaten. I was SUPER excited that Greenville has a boba tea place walking distance from where I live. However I've had so many boba teas in my lifetime that the boba tea here was quite disappointing. I ordered the taro milk tea and it was really grainy...the taro powder wasn't mixed in well and the taste was minimal taro and overwhelmingly milk. I got to give it to them though...the tapioca by itself was pretty darn good. I have been looking for a new boba tea place and I have to say that I'm disappointed. I ordered a Thai Milk Tea and it was very watery without much flavor. The boba was not flavorful either, though the consistency was nice. I'm also disappointed in the requirement of masks, even though I am vaccinated. They do provide a mask, but they were not consistent with customers on requiring them. As in, I had to wear one, but the gentleman behind me was still able to order one without. Once a local, now moved, I make it a point to stop every time I'm in town. I've had several drink items and cookies - never had anything I didn't like! The teas are always consistently made and so refreshing. I can count on one hand, a couple of not so great customer service experiences, but that definitely does not reflect the overall store vibe, nor the owner. Maybe the blended teas taste better. I ordered the HK style hoping that I could satisfy my boba needs. Overall the tea tasted watered down. I don't think they use Half and Half or non dairy creamer and the warm tea might have melted the ice a bit too much. Well I was so disappointed I went to another tea place to order 3 more drinks for my co-workers. Granted this is Greenville and not the West Coast, it is decent for what it is. This has been a family favorite for years! It's the first place we visit when family and friends come to town. It's located along the Reedy River with Beautiful views of the Wyche Pavilion and Peace Center. It's also nestled along working Art studios and a train themed water feature! Went here for bubble tea. The boba was old and Chewie. It was NOT good. I took two sips of the Hong Kong Milk tea (with boba)- and threw it away. This was some of the worst tea I have ever had. We also got a passion fruit black tea which was palatable. I would NOT recommend this place if you are coming for bubble tea (which is something that they advertise) *Note- unless you have a mask you can't even go inside to place an order- but they will give you a mask if you forget one. Excellent! Adorable little boba tea shop next to the river in downtown Greenville. The staff are nice and do their best at explaining flavors and any other questions I had. My boyfriend and I split a large blueberry rose boba smoothie. It was SO GOOD. It literally tasted like sweet, delicious flowers. Sounds a bit strange, but if you like roses then you need to try this drink. They have a wide variety of flavors. So far I've tried the strawberry, banana, and melon flavors and I've loved them all (though the blueberry-rose is still my #1 favorite). I ordered a taro bubble tea, and I have definitely had better. The taro flavoring was not terrible, but the tapioca "bubbles" were hard in the middle - definitely not how it should be. I have never left a Yelp review before because usually I agree with the overall rating others have given the establishment. In this case, I could just not sit by while people praise the bubble tea here. By all means, if you like the bubble tea, I'm so glad! Maybe I got it on an off day. I ordered a Hong Kong milk tea (iced) with extra bubbles. It was super watery and the bubbles were not the soft, gelly consistency to which I'm accustomed. Instead they were brittle and pretty tasteless. Perhaps I should try a different flavor, but this experience has made me never want to try again. My advice is that if you like the bubble tea at places like Kung Fu Tea or more consistent chains, the quality at O-CHA will disappoint. I went here with my family for the first time. There were no prices on the menu that we could see, so we ordered without knowing. When we finally went to pay the total was $100, for 6 boba teas (which is outrageous). They only told us when we went to pay that they only took cash and no card after we had gotten half of them. The tea itself was very bland and did not taste very good. We will never come here again. Spare yourself the trouble, and get boba from another tea shop that's cheaper, tells you the prices up front, is more customizable (change the ice/ sugar levels), and tastes way better. read more

This is the best bubble tea I have had. I've tried many different places and none match O-Cha. My favorite is the strawberry tea with bobas. Thankfully they care about their customers and require people to wear masks. The store isn't large so social distancing isn't feasible.
