Liz, our bartender-server hybrid superhero, deserves a standing ovation for slinging drinks that were strong, not some sad, watered-down wannabe mix. Margaritas: 10/10, would sip again. The Shrimp and Grits, though? A Southern tragedy. As a longtime fan of this dish, I was ready for a light, flavorful hug from the Lowcountry. Instead, I got a greasy, heavy mess where the shrimp played hide-and-seek--and won. Hard pass next time. We kicked things off with the cheese wedges, O'Charley's claim to fame and the whole reason my wife dragged me here. We celebrated our 33rd anniversary with a meal out at O'Charley's. It seems to be our go to place in Etown. I had the Fish & Chips with a "side" of coleslaw. I don't know how my fries came out so good, but they were perfect. I usually ask for light salt or nothing on them. This time I forgot. But I got what I would have asked for. The fish!!! I used to be a tenders girl, but the fish gets ordered by me more often these days. It's just that good! I always doctor the coleslaw by adding a bit of malt vinegar in. I like mine with a bit of tang. My husband had the Bourbon Bacon Burger, which he raved about. It's messy and he ate it with a knife and fork. But, the look on his face afterwards was heart warming. His fries were seasoned perfectly for him, too. There was a minor inconvenience. We were seated in the bar, at a booth by the window. The vents were located across from us and the air ended up blowing across the table after it came down the wall. The chilled me a little and our food did cool off faster than we would have liked. We haven't been here in well over a year. We went tonight, I got a medium rare steak, rice and Mac and cheese. The steak was basically raw, the Mac and cheese looked like a kids portion and the rice was bland. My wife got the chicken bacon and ranch quesadillas and she got this last time and loved it. I have been to this O'Charleys twice in my life and oh my heavens does it disappoint me. I took my grandchildren to eat because it's my grandson's favorite restaurant. I come here and their service is worse than the taco bell bathrooms. We have sat here for over two hours and just got our food. I've been waiting for over 20 minutes for a refill and the waiter said he would get on to it and he never did. He blamed it on someone's table on the other side of the room. The food was horrible and I was parched almost the entire time I was there because I never got a refill of my drink. Also one of the waitresses dropped a tray full of glass I repeat GLASS cups and shattered them across the room and the pieces flew by my head and got my grandson all wet from the drinks. AND with all of this being horrible for 3 people to eat it cost me a whole big whoping $60 for sandwiches?!?!?!? Back in my day we never saw $60 at one time that was absolutely ridiculous. Also I was sitting right beside the kitchen and could see straight in the doors the entire time, and do you people want to know what my lazy waiter was doing when I was waiting on my drinks? This place is hit or miss. It's a big chain restaurant that I would compare similar food with raffertys and cheddars. To cut down to the chase on the food. We got three side Caesar salads. Two were drenched so it was inedible. So definitely order dressing on the side. Rolls are quality, and limitless. Spinach Dip appetizer was 2/5 for me. I've had several other spinach dips and this one was just not the right flavor or proportions. It was kind of cold and too salty in my opinion. Lastly the main meal I got, Honey Drizzled Chicken with a side of bacon mashed potatoes. This saved the day and would rate it 5/5 for the entree. Chicken was good enough size, perfectly cooked, and the honey on top was amazing. The potatoes you can't really mess up, so it was a great main course and was filling enough. Extra- Also has steak and chicken tenders and that entree came out exactly as ordered and was delicious. In summary. Entrees 5/5 but the sides, salads, and appetizer made it lower to 3/5. I'm appalled that in 2024, we still have to deal with racism at restaurants. This is not only absurd, it's absolutely ridiculous the pure ignorance that still goes on today. The waitress was rude from beginning to end. It was around 8 pm on January 2nd. I can't remember her name, but she had a bull nose ring. She first made the comment that the rolls were complimentary, which means they're free, as if I didn't know what complimentary meant. What takes the cake is when she brought the bill and she said, "Go ahead and sign, so we can ensure the card is not stolen." Now, I'm not sure why she thought it appropriate to make such comment, but the simple fact that you all have someone like this working at your restaurant says a lot. She not only needs training, she needs something that one can't teach...respect. It's nobody's fault but her own that she chose to be a waitress. Place a to go order , got there a few minutes early. No one came to curbside parking, so I walked in to pay and ask how long my order would be. They sent me to the bar to pay and ask about my order. Then they couldn't find my order, a cook came out and confirmed my order. They had to make my order but eventually found it who took it and why they couldn't find it in the computer. My Togo order was correct, they have us a great serving of sauces and side.. even the rolls( yum). The service could've been much better with the fact that I requested a sauce off the ribs and the server not knowing that was possible and had to send the manager to tell me. I wasn't mad at all, so why would the server send the manager to me instead of just telling me their self? I even tipped them well after the confusion. We ordered over $100 worth of food from O'Charley's and had it delivered through Grub Hub. We were missing our sides and the rolls. And, Grub Hub delivered a mess of sideways meals. I contacted the Manager on duty 12/3/19 about the incorrect order, knowing part of the blame was on Grub Hub. He was so nice and apologetic, and offered to take care of comparable meals the next time we came in. Today, we took him up at that. He remembered us and checked on us several times throughout our meal. Our server was excellent; she was working at the bar today, 12/14/19. Our food came out hot and fresh and they ended up comping the entire meal. This is a great example of excellent customer service. It wasn't entirely their fault, yet they took it upon themselves to make it right. We haven't been frequent patrons of O'Charlies in the past, but that will definitely change.
