I have been to O'Conn's many times before and the service has never been this bad. My friends and I had a server who was such a space cadet and so incompetent. We sat down at 9pm and placed a food order around 9:15pm. The time rolls around to 10:30pm and still no food is on our table. We asked our server and he completely forgot to put in the order! Like bud your whole job is to take an order and put it in for the kitchen. How hard can that be?? About 11pm we got our food. Checks come and you'd think that since he messed up we'd have some of our check comped. That was not the case. So, I spoke to the manager, who was rude and also seemed like she had no idea what to do. They only comped us 20% for his slip up....thats $2 btw! We payed after receiving the "$2 discount" and left the space cadet with a $0 tip. Maybe the customer service industry is not for him nor for the manager.... yikes. read more

Visiting Norman for the first time in a decade. I went to college here in the 90's and moved away in 2005. Decided to go to all the old haunts while I was in town. The location has changed but the food is still just as good. It's pub food so set your expectations, but as far as pub food you won't find better. I asked the bartender Matt for local beer recommendations and ordered the F5 IPA which was very tasty. It took some time to decide on lunch but I stuck with the classic Ranch Hand. It was just as I remember. Just a great burger. It was a summer Saturday so the vibe was chill, though it gets busier as kids come back to campus. If you have a chance and are in Norman swing by and have some drinks and food. I spent more time in O'Connells than any other place that's still around, and this trip didn't disappoint. read more

Was at the OU campus listening to a friend practice for the Pride of Oklahoma Alumni band and afterwards we were both really hungry. He recommended we grab something to eat at O'Connells Irish Pub & Grille. I wound up getting the crispy chicken sandwich and that has got to be the best crispy chicken sandwich I've ever eaten. It had great breading, was crispy and came out hot. I devoured that sandwich in a hurry and even got to enjoy participating in some music bingo while doing so. Recently moved back to Norman and excited to get a burger at O'Connells. Waitress came by and I asked for a menu and she said she didn't know if she could get us any but she would try. She took our drink order, water for me, corona for my sister. Brought the water and never came back. This is a restaurant, right? How do you not have enough menus? And there were empty tables. I think right now I'm gonna put blame on the waitress for just not giving a sh#t but I'm gonna come back sometime and give it another chance. Completely disappointing!!!! We came in on a Saturday evening, it wasn't busy and we were able to grab a booth. Our food took a reasonable time to get to us, not too long for 4 burgers and fries. I got the O'Guac burger and curly fries, and the meal was underwhelming, they don't season their fries at all and the burger was bland even with guacamole and cheese. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here even with their 4-5$ or so burger nights. The rating mostly comes from our server experience: The first instance was when my friend asked for silverware and our server questioned us, "Really? For a burger?" "Yes please." "For a burger??" What really surprised us was when she brought us our check and said, "I'm on my way out, so sooner's better than later". Like we understand wanting to clear a table for other customers, but this place wasn't packed and we were still in the middle of eating. And lastly she swiped the check and my friend's card from under his phone and took off without saying anything to us. This is definitely a college bar place... The service has been kind of bizarre both of the recent times I've been. First of the two, they seemed to be severely understaffed, and the one waiter in our area was running around, ignoring tables, and bringing wrong orders when he actually took them. More recently, it wasn't as bad. I got questioned about my ID which I guess is good, but I've been legal for two years now :( Then our waitress seemingly brought our checks without asking to get us out quickly I think? One of my friends had to order another drink and get her to add it to his tab. It was karaoke night, so maybe they were ending food service or something. Just odd... We've been meaning to try this place after an EPIC fail at McNellies. We were greeted promptly and our waitress Amelia was super patient(my wife tends to be all over the place ordering and God help you at the drive thru) and very helpful. She attended our every need. My wife got a club sandwich on sour dough bread which was rather good. I ordered chicken tenders with steak fries. The chicken was a little too done and the fries were terrible. I think their oil needed to be changed in the fryer. However, I liked the atmosphere and the friendly folk. The music was a little loud, probably to over compensate due to the blaring music across the street at Logies On The Corner. We couldn't hear what our waitress was trying to say. No matter, we've heard good things about O'Connells and we'll try again soon. We're looking for a permanent Irish Pub. read more

Our favorite place in Norman, Ok hands down. Great atmosphere and great food...wait staff takes care of you. Wish I could go to St Patty's it looks so fun. The O'club burger is so good big Frank split in half on top of meat with chili and cheese and the works all on the side, that's so smart! Had the Irish Medallions for a appetizer...hit the spot. And this may sound lame, but I tripped out when I say the sinks in the men's room....all in all really a cool place, went back the next Friday. We came as a party of 20 on $4 burger night. The 2 servers that served us was great. They were attentive to every single one of us. Our food almost all came out at the same time. Some of our party was late but we all ended up eating at the same time. I was very impressed at how accurate our orders were considering there were so many of us. Kudos to the 2 ladies that served us. They kept coming and checking on us and making sure our drinks were filled. The burgers were nice and hot and the fries were great. The portions were just right. O conns is the epitome of a trashy college pub and that's great for those who want to unwind during the week and grab a drink. The have daily specials, so you will always leave full and in won't hurt your bank account. The staff is great and attentive. I've never had a bad experience. This place is only moderately busy on a weekday or weekend night and chronically understaffed. The staff are working their butts off to deliver great service and this review is not a reflection on them. I understand it is difficult to keep staff right now but do something.
