Was craving steak and this place has some good reviews so drove a wee bit out of the way to check out. It's def no frills, very casual. There were some hits, some misses. Plus side, initial service was fast and friendly but no water delivered (had to ask). The crab cake appetizer (market price $16.95) was good, two fairly large crab cakes - not too much filler, served with a tasty mayo sauce. Dinner arrived, the hit was that the filet mignon was super tender but came out very rare, not medium as requested. But they took this back and it came back charred on the outside but perfectly cooked inside, still good and served with salad and baked potato. The chicken club sandwich was good, wine was passable. The fish and chips however were very terrible.... frozen (Groton ?) fish sticks is not what we were prepared for so that was a massive no thanks. I'd seen O'Gillies pop up on social media platforms several times recently and since I was going to be in the area , a friend and I decided to check it out. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was clean and the staff was very friendly[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], I had a grilled chicken wrap, it was so-so and I was disappointed because they advertised homemade chips with all the sandwiches but what I got we were rippled chips from a bag. My friend had fish and chips and a cup of lobster bisque, he wasn't happy with the fact that all his food was cold. Overall I felt as though they dropped the ball, not horrible but I can't see myself going back. read more

What an amazing place! Visiting Perryopolis and my Cuzinz Paul & Tracey suggested O'Gilliea in Uniontown for dinner. Started with Mozzetella stick. Hand cut and breaded in house and a great marinara sauce. The French Onion soup is a must. Not super hot and lots of flavors in the broth. I ordered the Walley filet with wild rice....wow and double wow!! Gina waited on us and she was the next best think next to sliced bread. Good o'l O'Gillies! A Uniontown favorite and exceptional restaurant for the area. Filled with local memorabilia from past football teams and local supporting businesses. This place has been around for sometime and their food shows they have the experience in making great meals. The atmosphere here is very small town "pub" type setting but sets itself apart by having a more modern seating area with a brighter ambiance. One odd thing I'd add is the special menus that is on the wall in the main room. It's sideways, like purposefully crooked and designed that way. Not sure if it's supposed to be "hip" and "cool" as it's kind of just out of place. But I digress, it does it job! The food here is absolutely some of my favorite to get for a family dinner or take out. The flank steak app is MUST here you have to try with their tartar sauce. From sandwiches, steaks, fish, pastas and more, this place isn't short of options for everybody. I order the special of the day which was a blackened swordfish over a risotto rice. Visiting family and decided to try a local restaurant, my dad had eaten here a few years ago and said the burgers were good. Really liked the interior decor and feel - the outside is not very inviting. We were seated right away and our server was very friendly and attentive. Started with the spinach and artichoke dip, it was good and the chips served with it were very good. For our entrees, we had a cheeseburger with fries, a Delmonico steak with mushrooms with side salad and beer fries, and a steak with wedge salad. Unfortunately, my daughter didn't care for her burger. My steak was ordered medium temp but came out medium well, I didn't care for the preparation of the mushrooms and my beer fries were meh. My dad said his steak was ok, but he didn't finish his meal. Would I visit here again? Maybe, but I would definitely try other menu items. Meal set me back $91 before tip, not worth it at all. read more

There were too many times I looked past this town, so i joined my colleagues on a trip here to refuel after we nearly killed ourselves at the angry waterfall rocks at Ohiopyle. I selected the Cajun Fettuccine, which was action packed with flavorful seasoning and deceased chicken. The restaurant was less staffed than the cashless PA turnpike, which meant my salad arrived two minutes before my main entree. Possibly the worst dining experience I've had. Made reservations for 5:30 and we were promptly seated, which was a good start. They were busy and it probably took 10 minutes to get our drink order taken and we placed an appetizer order at the same time. Three drinks came and my draft beer took maybe another 3 or 4 minutes. The fried zucchini appetizer took probably 25-30 minutes to arrive, but with no plates to share for the four of us and the waitress said she was going to try and track down some app plates. We were hungry so we just ate off the plate and about the time we finished the app the waitress showed up with three plates for the four of us. 3 of us order entrees which come with a salad and my mother ordered an entree salad and French onion soup. Three of were served our salads and my mother just sat and watched us eat. They never asked if she might want her soup first, but they did place a side of butter in front of her. About the time we were finished with our salads the waitress showed up with the bread we should have had with the salads. Entrees finally arrived at about 6:45. At least an hour after we ordered them. My sister had crab cakes which were good but they brought her a side of mashed potatoes instead of the Dublin fries she ordered. The mashed potatoes were obviously boxed mashed potatoes!!! My niece ordered a special which had a pineapple rum sauce that everyone at the table found disgusting. I ordered blackened walleye which was not blackened at all. After we were done I asked to speak to a manager so I could share our experience. All I was given was excuses. When I said no one liked the one dish, she said well it's very popular here. When I said about how long it took she said they were busy. At that point I said I didn't call you over to hear a bunch of f***in excuses. She said you don't have to curse at me to which I apologized, but I was highly frustrated. The manager then stood up and flung the check at me and started slamming plates together to clean up. I said you don't need to be flinging the bill at me slamming stuff around. I was told I don't ever need to come back, to which I replied, that will not be a problem. $130 tab for four and not even a - I'm sorry or to ask if there was any way to make it right. All I wanted was to be heard and acknowledged, but I just heard excuses. Sad, sad way to run a business. This was not the waitress's fault. This was management's fault. read more

Oh My Goodness!! Oh My Goodness!! Another road trip with my hubby (not for wrestling this time!) In Pennsylvania to visit my oldest son. After raising this child for almost 30 years below sea level he decides to take his "elderly" parents to a zoo on a MOUNTAIN! I knew I should have got to the gym and trained for this trip... So needless to say we were bout dead today and decided to seek out a sit down lunch. First off all you got to pay attention to fine it or you will miss it! Looks like recently remodeled. Very nice, clean. Servers were super nice. We ordered 2 mango Hurricanes that were quite good! (Squirrel moment) I grow peppers back home first year doing it, so I saw a stuffed banana pepper on Menu and thought "ok cool let's see if good and I can try this! IT WAS PHENOMENALLLL ( I sing in my horribly off tone singing voice) Seriously could have had that as main meal! Jim ordered the philly cheese steak.(sorry for the pause just had to go thru the 6286 toll booth) (we don't have these things in Louisiana so it's a learning curve that's a whole other story...) Ok where was I... Food yes, sandwiches philly cheese steak with a bourbon glaze and prime rib sandwich with au jus... So flippin' good!!! And the bread did I mention the bread!
