I'm just gonna list all the things this place did well rather than be poetic about it because it was more or less perfect. 1. Best part of the experience was the bartender. I believe Christiano- he was so darn welcoming. As two midwesterners walking into a somewhat crowded NYC bar, there's always a bit of "do we belong here". He removed that concern immediately, taking our drink order with kindness and when he didn't have exactly what I preferred he instantly offered me like 4 other options. Then we asked if could change one tv to our sport team despite the entire bar watching soccer, he was happy to do so. (We did go to an empty room in the back as to not throw off the watch party vibe). As we waited for our game to start we were messing around with the free shuffle board game and unprompted he came over and sprinkled fresh sand for us just like Salt Bae! The rest of the time he continued on with professional and friendly service! 2. Great setup for tvs, darts, 2 billiard tables, free shuffle board and plenty of space and seating. 3. They don't have food but allow you to bring some in, we walked to grab something brought it back with no problem, plenty of great food all around. 4. The prices were more than fair, I drank pretty freely during the Buckeye basketball game I get a little excitable, and my wife had several drinks and I was shocked at the price when we're done. 5. spacious but cozy. plenty of seating and room to hangout, a bunch of tvs in all the space. two pool tables in the back that are free - there is only one real set of pool balls tho so that's tough. great spot for watching sports or playing darts, shuffleboard or pool, love that there is so much seating and room to breathe. Went back once. A patron said racist things to me. No one did anything. The girl who attacked me is a regular there and apart of some soccer thing they do. Some patrons whispered to me, "just ignore her, she's drunk". The workers did nothing and carried on. Very humiliating experience. read more

I had a party of 7 and the bald head darkskin bouncer didn't let us in because one of us had a picture id instead of physical, ok granted no problem. I asked for his name he said nunya also supposedly there is no manager. All the bartenders "share" the responsibility. Idk what's goin on but very weird vibes very sketchy. They had their branded pints on special for a great price and the beer was enjoyable. Cool atmosphere to me. The bartenders were great and very welcoming to someone that was a nonlocal. These folks have a problem with people who don't drink alcohol. A fairly neanderthal attitude which I almost never see at other bars. But those places have kitchens and I can eat. Plus I avoided sitting at the bar for awhile because some of their lunchtime crowd (oh they have a lunchtime crowd--should have clued me in at a place that doesn't serve food at all) was there and one person I originally sat next to smelt like they hadn't showered or changed in several days. Lame and regrettable. Ah well, there are other places to watch the footy. I always enjoyed the fan banter here but there's no getting over the hostile attitude management has to non-drunks. read more

If you've ever seen "Cheers", and wanted an NYC substitute, this is the place for you. O'Hanlon's is a great neighborhood bar, whether you actually live in the neighborhood or not. On any given day, you can watch Football (both kinds of football), horse racing, and pretty much any sport they can find on the satellite. I can't count the number of hours I've spent in this place, hanging out with friends and enjoying some fine libations. The bar does not have a license or kitchen to serve food, but you're welcome to bring food in, or order in whatever you like (they even have a binder with menus in it if you're not sure what you want). If you're an Arsenal fan and haven't checked this place out, you should. The bar is well decorated and filled with Gooners for every match. Big matches tend to bring big crowds, and it's important to plan accordingly for your arrival time. This bar is also a great spot for the people who just wanna go hang out, watch some sports, and listen to some great tunes (always Bartenders' choice though, but you can make requests sometimes). I've come here often to grab a drink and play darts with friends after work. I've never seen it packed, but there's usually a healthy-size crowd. The inside is decorated with lights on the ceiling which is a nice touch, though it's still a pretty average looking bar. They don't serve food but they do let you bring in your own which is great considering there are plenty of pizza places within walking distance. The bartender is also a nice guy! The place is nothing special but it serves it purpose as a place for me to catch up with friends over darts and a few drinks. read more

Meh Needed a place to have a beer and use the bathroom on Sunday waiting for our normal bar to open. Having walked past this place about a million times, I can safely say, I'm super happy I haven't wasted my time checking it out sooner. The bartender was pleasant enough and the house beer on happy hour was ok (4$, nothing special), but that was about as far as the pleasantries could take me at this place. The folks hanging out were very much the worst - well past their prime , drunk, and complaining about....well, everything. "The music is too loud" , "why are there so many people on top of me", "how long is this post game going to be?". It was awful. If I want to hang out with complaining drunk elderly folks that have bad breath, I'll go volunteer at wine night at the old folks castle. I love a dive bar, this isn't one; it's a pub that caters to arsenal fans (whatever) and crotchety old folks (hard pass). read more

What can I say about O'Hanlons? I typically go there to have a beer with a buddy when you want to get away from the crowd or shi-shi type place. (Yea that's right, I said shi-shi. Look it up) It's a 3-star overall, but as far as my favorite neighborhood Dive-Bars go... It's 10 of 10. They don't serve food there however allow you to bring in anything you want, including the worlds greatest (and arguably smelliest) halal food truck that is a block away. Admittedly, I've done this in the past. The drinks are reasonably priced and it has a very friendly vibe. After going there a couple of times, the bartender will know your face and they're super friendly. There are usually seats available at the bar, which is nice and they have plenty of stools. This isn't a bar that you have to worry about standing in. On Friday and Saturday nights, it will get crowded though. It's a really great place to watch a sports game and although I wouldn't consider it a big time sports bar, it gets a lot of points for playing all the noteworthy games one could ask for. It's also nice to have a seat and friendly atmosphere during said games. read more

This place is good if looking for a quick drink and its cold and cant find any other bar around 14th and 1st like how my unlucky a** was today! Walk down the steps and open the door. At first entrance it smells like vomit (EWW!) The only times a bar smells like vomit is when someone actually vomits...or when they use the same nasty rag to clean the counters!!! After about 5 mins you kinda get used to the smell (strangely enough) Long island is good and strong and moderatly priced (Did i mention i was in stuyvesant town?) Not bad. It got me drunk! Anticipating a long search for a suitable bar on account of my beer snobbery, they mockingly suggested that this bar was as good as any, and I called their bluff. So, O'Hanlon's may not serve anything fancier than a Peak Organic, but it's a cozy kinda place. There was hardly anywhere inside on a Tuesday night, and a couple of good-looking dartboards in the back. The only thing off-kilter was the crowd: loud, older, and several of them somewhere on the border of quirky and shady. At some point a girl stumbled in and a sketchy man with a wedding band, who was pacing to and fro checking her out, sat down next to her and started playing some sort of game with her--either harmless flirtation or light seduction. There were sports on and loud Lakers fan in the house. One guy yelled really loud upon entering as if he were a nerdier Norm from Cheers. I don't know. read more

So, I've always wanted to try this place since it's not far from my neighborhood. I went in late on a weekday morning I had off from work and had a good time. Since there aren't a lot of sports going on, they had CNN and some screens with soccer matches on. The bartender was extremely friendly. Many regulars were present too. It was a good atmosphere as everyone talked to each other about recent events and their opinions on them (no confrontational situations went down). The rustic wooden facade of this real version of a "Cheers" bar is very inviting to an acute alcoholic vacationer who happens to live a block from this establishment. My friend makes the tv comparison because on few occasions, he seemed to have been running into the same folks in here, as they were getting crunk on a weekday afternoon. O'Hanlons is THE Arsenal Bar of NYC. I've been coming here for well over 2 years and the fans that pack the bar on the wee hours of the morning are amazing. Being packed with the same people every weekend screaming our lungs out Outside of the Arsenal games, this is a pretty chill bar. Cool playlists, good prices on the drinks, darts and a pool table out in the back. Plenty of TVs to catch a game and spaced out seating. The bartenders are pretty awesome as well. I came here to watch Chelsea v Arsenal while I was over on vacation. Kick off was 08:45 and I was half expecting to be in the bar alone yet the place was packed with Arsenal fans loud and proud! The result on the day was awful, we suffered a 6-0 hammering yet the fans in the bar kept on singing the whole way through. I'm the check in Duke of The Emirates Stadium and I'm sad to say there was more atmosphere in here than there is in the actual stadium for a lot of the games.
