Went in early on a weekend wanting a reasonably-priced drink (there's happy hour daily) and know that this place has alot of history in the city. The crowd was all white, which, I guess makes sense as the area has all manner of more international-looking places, and this Ale House looks like the type of bar that pepper Eastern college towns. I got a cider, and the Irish bartender was on it, though when I was taking a photo of the glass, he moved away because he doesn't want to be famous? lol. I'm probably going to bring my partner here sometime and see what she thinks: She's more a beer drinker than I. Check in on Yelp, and get some free tunes on the very good jukebox, which no one had queued up when I was there.

Nice little dark, divey bar to chill before dinner. Cheap drinks and friendly service as well.

I stopped in on a Wednesday evening as I had time to kill before meeting up with friends. 12th Street Ale House is a great neighborhood bar. I walked in and checked out the beer menu and was impressed with the quality and variety. The Porter beer I had was probably the best of that style I've ever tasted. The bartender was super friendly, and I overheard my neighbors commenting that this was their favorite bar on earth. It's clean, there's a jukebox, there are happy hour specials and it's not super crowded - all positives for me. I'll be back.

I popped into the 12th Street Ale House to have a quick beer on the way to the vet. This was my first visit there and I have to tell you, I felt right at home. The beer was ice cold and delicious. I will definitely be returning. #NotThatBrianWilson Hey Johnny, have you ever considered live acoustic music at the 12th Street Ale House? My band, Me & Shane, is ready to rock some classic covers if you need us. #MeAndShane

Good draft options and affordable happy hour at this funky dive bar. I had a Red Wagon IPA and thoroughly enjoyed. The music is rap/funk... not the best selection, but it will do the job if you're looking for an unassuming place to see a friend... not the type of place you want to impress your date.

I'm a fan. Their $20 credit card minimum's a bit outrageous, but reasonable prices, lots of seating, and friendly bartenders make up for that. Just bring cash so you're not left shorthanded. And order a shot of gin, if you're uneducated like me. Remember, the ale house cures all your ails. (That was a stinker, eh?) Find them a relatively short walk from Union Square.

I have visited this bar occasionally over the past eight years. In a funny coincidence, every time I come here the bartender is learning the ropes; yet, each one has been very friendly. There are many reasons I like this bar. In addition to the friendly service and multiple TVs, there are a bunch of windows to let in natural light. That is not something you don't get in a lot of bars.

    Great happy hour! (until 8!)

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with champagne, which immediately set the tone for a special evening. Our server, Daniel, was beyond amazing. He was warm, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in making our anniversary meaningful. It never felt forced just thoughtful, polished hospitality. The team went above and beyond when we brought our wedding cake (which had been frozen for a year). Not only did they accommodate it without hesitation, they helped decorate and present it beautifully you would have thought it had been baked that same day. It was such a touching moment for us, and they handled it with care and enthusiasm. As for the food: incredible. The steak tartare was perfectly balanced and beautifully prepared. The tuna was fresh and vibrant. And the Beef Wellington... honestly one of the best I've had in New York City. Perfectly cooked, rich, elegant, and absolutely worthy of a celebration dinner. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance: romantic, warm, refined but relaxed. It felt special without being stiff. If you're looking for a place to celebrate something meaningful, this is it. We will absolutely return.

We started with the steak tartare with Melba toast and caviar. For entrees we had the creamy cavatelli with maitake and squash. Every single corner is decorated. I appreciated how much space there was to sit at the bar, which is open seating. The cocktail list was a bit shorter than I expected and had some odd ingredients (salsa verde, soy sauce, etc) but my espresso martini was really balanced. We were less of a fan of the frozen hugo spritz, but it was definitely refreshing given the heat outside. One to check out if you appreciate a quirky atmosphere!

We timed their summer's Alice in Wonderland theme and was not disappointed. Our group of 15 was situated in the room just when walked in from the front entrance . Not has the privacy we wanted, not has sitting comfort we expected , not the best food we waited but delighted to be with the most decorative backdrop. We had a delay on our food service, had a mixed up to few orders, there was one extra charge for drinks not accounted by our group hostess until after the stay and was not assisted to our expectation level.
