    Grilled pork bahn mi/sandwich
    Nik O.

Tagged along for a friend's Pahrump day trip and I was looking forward to going back to O Happy Bread even if it was sabotaging my diet. I was so excited for my sugar/carb cheat day because this bakery was sooo good last year. Um... Name hasn't changed but it is literally not the same place as last year. I heard that the owners sold and moved back to Canada and it's now a French bakery that also has Viet food. It sounds like an amazing combo, but unfortunately it was 2 cuisines done OK enough. On its own, this place was fine. Pho was overly salty but good brisket, standard grilled pork bahn mi w legit bread, great eggrolls but missing all of the veg that usually comes with it. The chicken sandwich was nothing like before other than the bun - last time it was a huge perfectly seasoned thigh, 2026 version is just 2 bland white meat tenders thrown on a bun. The royal chocolat was fine but visually and taste, it has alot less chocolate in the recipe than it used to. If I just walked in for the first time I would've said this place is pretty good for Pahrump. But having already experienced the exceptional food from the previous owners, this made me really sad. I think it's the only viet or French bakery option in Pahrump so I'd return if I lived there, but I don't and I'm sad to have lost my main motivation for ever going to Pahrump. But also thanks for saving me from doing a full on cheat day, I was alot less tempted to buy these pastries.

The food was awesome! Everything was made with high-quality ingredients, and the portions were very generous. We probably could have shared an omelette because there was so much food. The prices are a little higher, but I think they're justified by the quality of the ingredients and the portion sizes. The location was great--relaxing and enjoyable. Service was also friendly, fast, and efficient. Overall, a great experience, and we would definitely come back!

First time customer here, The food is AMAZING & the customer service is OUT STANDING. Love to see smiling faces when we walked through the door.

Not sure what happened to this place, perhaps it's under new management? Last year, we had an amazing experience in both customer service and food. On this stop, we waited a few minutes to even be acknowledged. The staff was not very friendly, and the selection of pastries was different. The pastries were good but not great. Maybe they lost their master baker? We ordered the cinnamon roll and a new pastry called CUCCIDATI. We each took a bite of the cinnamon roll and it was dry so we did not eat it. The Cuccidati was very interesting and we kinda liked it. It's still cute place with clean bathrooms and a decent stop on your way to Death Valley.

My husband got a roasted beef sandwich which and I got a turkey. It was so big I couldn't finish the whole thing. Of course served on a baguette that was crispy on the outside and plump on the inside. Perfect bread! Their dessert section looked amazing as well. You order at the counter and they call your name, but counter service was nice. Casual, laid back place with great bread and dessert and lunch selections. Yum!

What a gem of a place! We were looking for a breakfast place while going from Vegas to Death valley and found this on google. Frankly speaking the complex this place is in looked under construction and isolated and we considered turning back but then I thought of having a small peak inside and I am glad I did so :) It's a cute place with authentic french breads, sandwiches and pastries. I ordered the spinach mushroom omelette for breakfast and parceled chicken "pan- bagnat" sandwich and "death by chocolate" cake slice for later. While everything was great, I especially loved the crispy buttery toast with my omelette and the pan bagnat which was still crisp when I ate it for lunch a couple hours later. Service was polite and friendly. We were told that the order may take about 40 mins as they were short staffed on the day and everything is cooked from scratch . We got our order after about an hour though. It is a cool place to sit and enjoy with time to spare but please account for extra time or order something ready to go if on a schedule for death valley trip.

    Irish breakfast roll

We happened to be in for the evening! We asked a local to recommend us a good local restaurant for dinner. She suggested "the bakery, they also sell Pho!!" We are so happy with this hidden gem!!! I wasn't hungry but my daughter was. She ordered an Irish breakfast roll and we both thought it was so delicious!!! The restaurant was very clean and Raphael was so friendly and helpful. We will definitely stop by here again

When I found out that Pahrump finally has a place that makes Vietnamese food. I had to go try it. Their Banh mi was good. I liked the taste of the pate. The pho was good with tender meat. My guy likes the grill pork rice dish. I am trying the curry, today. It has good flavors.

Foods are good and service is great. The atmosphere is awesome. We'll have pho here next time instead of Togo

    Vegetarian pho
    Bree M.

The food here is fantastic! Service is always top notch. Had the vegetarian pho today and it was very flavorful and full of veggies. They also have mouthwatering pastries and smoothies.

Vegetable pho - great presentation even for takeout

Pho is wonderful!! Very impressive! Made to order - fresh, and delicious! Only found out during a pedicure last Saturday that O Happy Bread had added pho to the menu! Could not wait to try it! Barely made it home with the fab aromas filling my vehicle! Service was great, the young lady in front was very helpful. Have always enjoyed the bakery but the Vietnamese flair takes it up to another level. Barely managed to get a couple pictures before digging in! What could be better than pho and a baguette!!

I asked the person who seated us to describe the gravy that came with the biscuits and gravy. His words, "It's a country sausage gravy filled with chunks of sausage." I ordered that meal with hash browns extra crispy, eggs OM and bacon. I wish I had taken a pic. The gravy had ZERO meat in it and was thin, flavorless liquid you could see through. It just ran off the biscuits and puddled on the plate. The hash browns were almost raw inside and the eggs and yolks were cooked hard (with some gelatinous stuff in the white) and dumped in a weird pile on the plate, no effort was made to even make them look like two eggs on a plate. I did eat the bacon. When I paid for the meal, I looked the guy straight in the eye and asked, "You've never actually had the B&G here have you? Next time someone asks about the gravy, don't lie to them." I would go on to describe the steak and eggs one of us ordered, but I don't have that kind of time. He just put it in a to go box for his dog. Oh yeah, forgot to mention, the coffee was burnt and easily in the top 3 worst coffees I've ever had in a restaurant. I definitely won't be back here again.

I wanted an excuse to check out Southern Highlands properly and get another Yelp review, and I realized that I had plans not too far away. I can't seem to recall trying their Porchetta ($18.00) before, which is strange since I always like to try that sandwich if it's an option. Although they don't seem to do crispy skin here, they do have tasty pork with some great pops of flavor in the form of spicy peppers, pickled onions, and capers. The fluffy ciabatta did a great job of holding everything together but easily yielding to bites, and arugula is always fun. The included side salad is small but fresh, and the vinaigrette is nice and creamy. The Ham ($17.00) is pretty standard and straightforward. The baguette is a little tougher than the Porchetta, but the sandwich is overall as solid as at their other locations. The lettuce and tomato aren't bad but are out of place if you're comparing this to a traditional French sandwich. I believe the Raspberries & Pistachio Tart ($7.25) was a new taste for me too, and it was a good combo. The crumbly shell, pistachio cream, and actual pistachios went nicely with the lightly tart and sweet raspberries. Complimentary water is available, dispensed from one of those motion-sensor water bottle fillers. It was clean, but not ice-cold like at their other locations. I was happy to see that it was busy here, unlike most of my visits to their now-shuttered Le Cafe Central. The decor also is the nicest of their locations, especially with the nearby outdoor patio just past the open doors giving a very homely feel. The overall design just feels the most congruous too, like they didn't have to expand the dining area or incorporate an oddly out-of-place bar. Le Cafe Du Sud is a good option for French sandwiches and pastries for this part of town, although it's not quite the best in town. Hopefully they do continue to succeed here since that neighborhood would feel much emptier without them.
