Found this great place via their billboard when passing through on the way to Death Valley on vacation. Was then recommended by an employee where we stayed so stopped in on the way home. It was just great!!! Their almond croissant was the best ever made, and the breakfasts being served looked delicious. A do not miss. A little disappointed with my experience as I had higher expectations based on the reviews. Passing through we stopped by for breakfast, when entering it smelled of chlorine, our coffee tasted burnt, the waffle I had had a good taste to it but it was covered in black teflon specks, I'm assuming from the waffle maker. The chocolate cookie had a chemical smell and taste to it and didn't taste fresh. read more

The sandwiches are fresh and delicious and the atmosphere is relaxing and cute! Plus, the tables are generously-sized so it's easy to fit a small group and all of the dishes. Their food is wonderful! We have had their sandwiches, salads, soup, crepes, pizza, and pastries. They are all wonderful!!! If you are looking for fast go somewhere else. They take their time and do it right. They don't have a wait staff so don't expect that kind of service. The ambiance is really nice. They have French music and jazz playing. What a cool find while staying in Pahrump and visiting Death Valley National Park. Got the Caesar Salad and the Strawberry Walnut salad. Both were delicious. WOWOWOWOWOW! The pastries here are insane. So buttery. So fluffy. So flakey. I'm in love. We visited twice during our time in town. After the first visit we knew we had to go back to get a box for the road. To be honest, we got so much that I don't remember everything we bought. All I remember is that it was delicious and I would get it all again if given the chance. The only thing I wouldn't do again is probably the coffee. Additionally, there's seating inside and outside! We had the chocolate croissant, almond croissant, blueberry turnover, apple turnover, cherry (?) turnover, beignets (hands-down better than Disneyland), strawberry fruit tart, and who knows what else. What an amazing bakery, especially in a smaller town! If you live anywhere in driving distance from them, you must make the trek. The owners/bakers/chefs are both French and they make food that you would expect to get in Paris! My favorite was Paris Brest! As a matter of fact, I had it for two days in a row with a few other goodies. The owner/baker Charlotte loves it so much that her husband/pastry chef makes her a large one each year for her bakery. She got the recipe from another French Baker of 70 years who passed the secrets on to her. I ordered and ate more than I should have, but how often do you have an opportunity to enjoy pastries of this caliber? They sold bread, sandwiches, snacks, etc. You will be so impressed with their baked products. Your only regret is that you didn't try all of what they offered. read more

The bread is delicious. However, the service was awful. They were nice enough but it took over an hour to get our food. I think they lost our order. When it did come out, my omelet was undercooked. The mushrooms were crunchy and raw. The best thing on my plate, by far, was the toast. The macaroni were decent and reasonably priced. I would never eat there again. I've been having some serious personal issues lately, so I decided to take a long drive out into the desert to clear my head. I ended up in Pahrump and, with a sense of adventure and a willingness to explore, happened upon this little French bakery. Located in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it strip mall, O Happy Bread doesn't exactly stand out. I was super curious about a business like this in the wasteland of Pahrump, so I went inside. Note that this business has a very small outdoor patio area with a couple of tables so you can dine-in safely. I won't eat inside establishments right now. They also have a small menu of sandwiches, which would make it a great spot for a light lunch. I had the intention of getting an espresso, but the pastries smelled so good that I ended up purchasing a sack of carbs. There were a few bakers in the back working away, plucking fresh croissants from the oven. I was there around 11:30 am on a Saturday, and most of the items had been cleaned out. As with most bakeries, it's always better to go as early as possible for the best selection. I got a small loaf of bread, a plain croissant, and a chocolate chip cookie. The cookie was crispy and not very sweet, and it reminded me of the type of treat you can buy in many of the bakeries in New York City's Little Italy neighborhood. I took a couple of bites and that was enough. I would not buy a cookie here again. The bread fared much better. It was a small French-style loaf with a chewy texture and great flavor. Not too salty, not too bland. This was good. The crown jewel was the plain croissant! It was super flaky and sooooo buttery. The bottom had a few bits of cinnamon on it, which I think was from cross-contamination with another pastry. No matter, because it gave the pastry a little bit of a kick. I intended to take just a few bites of the oversized croissant, but ended up devouring the entire thing while I was sitting outside my car, staring at the desert. I suppose you could say O Happy Bread delivered more emotional therapy than most anything else, because for a few moments, I was happy. I highly recommend this bakery! The employees were cheerful and friendly, and it felt good to support a truly local business. It can't be easy to run a place like this in Pahrump, so try to go out of your way to visit. read more

We miss O Happy Bread because they're no longer at the Downtown Summerlin farmers market so we made sure to drop by during our first visit to Pahrump. Picked up Lobster Bisque to go (Friday special and the hype is real so no wonder they always sell out!), Pain Blanc (softer than a baguette!), Bread Pudding (we missed this the most -- always good), Moelleux (chocolate cake that's like a fudge brownie but better -- surprisingly good and the # 1 pastry from O Happy Bread that we will be getting again if we make it back to Pahrump!), and Rochers Coco (coconut macaroon -- the best consistency!). Very nice ladies at the counter! Expensive but not too sweet and worth it! The cafe/bakery may look like it needs a makeover but cannot not go here when in Pahrump! read more

Came here for dinner while visiting friends over the weekend. Fantastic dinner, I had the salmon with rice and a beurre blanc sauce. We had reservations since it's a small place with limited seating, so we got seated as soon as we walked in. When you walk in, you walk past all the yummy looking pastries, which are very tempting. About the only thing I can ding them for is my salmon was a touch dry but still great flavor. We will have to keep this place in mind when we come back to visit. read more

This is a cute, charming little French bakery, wonderful baguettes, and pastries not to mention croissants and quiches that said I had a baguette burger. It had grilled onions. I substituted Gureay cheese for cheddar and roasted tomatoes delicious It was huge with french fries and well with the money. I experienced the good fortune of discovering this jewel of a cafe, conveniently placed for all adventurers travelling across the desert to discover. The selection of pastries were unparalleled, everything you see is freshly made on site! Speaking as a British national who has visited various patisseries across Europe this American enterprise catapults the patisserie/cafe experience leaps forward! Upon entry you are greeted with display cases stockpiled with a broad spectrum of freshly baked pastries, many of which are considered national treasures across various countries (each item has a display plaque signifying its associated country). Eat in or take out it doesn't matter, either way you're in for a treat! I was so impressed that I revisited the establishment on the return leg of my trip! The cafe has an extensive menu with a large selection of options. Fish & chips (fries) is considered a national dish in Britain. I couldn't refuse sampling this dish on American soil! I do not say this lightly, this jewel of the desert is and remains the only place outside of my home country to match the true taste of home - they got the mushy peas spot on! I highly recommend seeking this treasure out. Whether it's enroute or a slight detour on your journey I encourage you to do so. The friendly and attentive staff create a wonderful welcoming ambience coupled with an extensive cafe menu and fairly priced generously sized pastries make it the perfect refuge to take a load off. I used to go there a year ago but the food sucks! The soup I had tasted like it came from a can. Another time I went and the croissants were super dry and seemed to have been 4 days old.
