2 Stars - We Love Four Corners, But This Stay Was Extremely Disappointing…read more
We stayed at Four Corners RV Resort in April and returned in August. We have family here, love the location, enjoy the camper life, and this has become a yearly tradition for us. We will be back, which is why I'm leaving an honest review. We want this to remain a place our family looks forward to visiting.
Unfortunately, our August stay was extremely disappointing, especially considering we spent around $1,500 for the week. I do want to say that management did make an effort to address some of the problems we experienced.
The pool: The pool was dirty, with so much dirt and so many dead bugs floating around that my daughter and I actually picked up the net and tried to clean it ourselves. There was simply too much debris, and we didn't want to spend our pool time cleaning instead of enjoying the stay we paid for.
The camper: When we arrived, the camper was insanely hot. We did check in about an hour early, but we booked back in April for an August stay, so it was surprising that it hadn't been cooled down before our arrival. The camper also wasn't very clean--it hadn't been swept, there were crumbs everywhere, and there was a terrible smell. Several things that worked during our April stay were now broken or not functioning properly. The cable TV worked last time but didn't this time, the furniture was torn up, and the bathroom door in the bunk room wouldn't close properly and had to be latched. The mattresses were extremely hard and uncomfortable, and the bedding was very thin and torn. It honestly seemed like quite a few things had been damaged between our April and August stays without being repaired or replaced.
The refrigerator: I notified management at the beginning of our stay that the refrigerator wasn't working properly. We were offered free bags of ice, which helped temporarily. Unfortunately, by the end of the week it was even warmer, and we lost all of our food two days before we were scheduled to leave. Management reimbursed us for the food and offered ice again, which I appreciate. When I checked out Sunday, Jessica told me she was ordering a new refrigerator, so hopefully that happens.
The beach/swimming area: This was probably our biggest health and cleanliness concern. The small beach area was absolutely disgusting. Geese, ducks and turkey vultures were all over the tiny swimming area, despite the plastic wolf-looking deterrent that was apparently supposed to keep them away. You couldn't walk six inches without encountering bird poop, and we didn't allow our kids to swim there. I understand this is an outdoor lake environment and wildlife will be around, but the amount of bird waste in such a small swimming area was excessive. If it can't be kept sanitary, I think eliminating the swimming area would be safer.
The playground: Our kids were very disappointed. We noticed spider webs and general lack of maintenance when we stayed in April, but assumed it was because it was still the off-season. Unfortunately, it looked essentially the same in August. This was especially disappointing because our kids were looking forward to the playground.
The kayaks: The kayaks were dirty, and the life jackets definitely need to be replaced. They looked worn enough that I wasn't comfortable having my kids use them.
Bedding/customer service: My daughter had a nosebleed in the middle of the night that got on her bedding. Obviously, this wasn't intentional. I went to the office, explained what happened, and even offered to try to get the blood out myself, which I did for the most part. Unfortunately, Jessica's demeanor made me feel like I was bothering her. When I asked for a comforter for my youngest because she didn't have one, she rolled her eyes, huffed, and said, "yeah, give me a minute." I wasn't trying to be difficult; I simply needed bedding for my child. Accidents happen, and I felt the situation could have been handled with more understanding. The laundry was also expensive, and I don't feel like our clothes came out particularly clean.
We really wanted to enjoy our stay and give Four Corners another chance because we had a good experience in April. That's what makes this visit so disappointing. It honestly felt like the property and camper had declined significantly between our two stays.
That said, we are not giving up on Four Corners. We have family here, love the location, genuinely enjoy staying here, and this is a yearly tradition for our family. We will absolutely be back. This review is meant as constructive criticism because Four Corners has a beautiful location and so much potential. We would love to see more attention given to cleanliness, maintenance, the pool, playground, beach area, kayaks and overall condition of the campers. We had a much better experience in April, so we know Four Corners can do better. We hope these things are addressed before our next visit because we want to keep coming back for years
