We need a place to escape the asphalt and steel of the world that we created and retreat back to the world as we as a species found it. We need these plots of unblemished nature. We need it and our souls need it. Overall, I will give Whitsett Park five stars and if you find yourself in the area, I would definitely recommend stopping by Whitsett Park. Last summer the owner/founder of Moondance and people from HQ met his group during their trip. It was a special moment for the kids and comforting for me, as a mom, to know they take such a personal interest in the teens in their Moondnace community. For me, the number one feature of Moondance is the customer service! My calls are always welcomed. And I call a lot. They always take the time to speak to me and answer my questions, no matter how great or small. Any question they can't answer immediately always has a response within a day. I've never felt like I was being pushed off a call. They go above and beyond in ways I'd never expect. They even retrieved a left-behind sleeping bag from British Columbia for us! I confidently and assuredly send my son on Moondnace Adventures and recommend that others do too. The only complaint is that he only has a few years to fit them all in! Start early and do them often. The seating areas are easily converted to sleeping space which provided ample room for the 3 of us. Plenty of warm bedding, pillows and towels were provided in the cost of the rental. They gave us wings, popcorn and these delicious deviled eggs and a locally made beer. Next we went to Cerveza Jacks. They had live music and served us an amazing strawberry lemonade cocktail. It was my favorite. We also got a Nashville hot chicken taco. Then we went next door to Mike's ice cream and had the vanilla with fudge chunk ice cream. So good. We went on one of the…read morepopular Nashville Whiskey Distilleries and Tours Nashville and the surrounding area are home to a vibrant whiskey scene, with options to suit every taste, we went with what is considered the father of whiskey. We went to Uncle Nearest Distillery. It honors the legacy of Nathan "Nearest" Green, the formerly enslaved man who taught Jack Daniel how to make whiskey. It's located in Shelbyville, TN (also about a 1-hour drive from Nashville). They offer tours that tell Nearest Green's story and provide insights into the distillery's whiskey-making process. The Tennessee Whiskey Tour provided excellent transportation to and from the event. Melvin was our driver, he was fun, vibrant and full of informational. The van was comfortable and suitable for our group. There were 7 of us, so we had plenty of space to relax on the drive. Upon return to Nashville, Melvin drove us through Broadway and pointed out the hot spots on the strip. He offered and dropped everyone off at their desired location. Great trip with a great guy.

A/C on bus didn't work properly!…read more I recently booked a Tennessee Whiskey Tours trip to Lynchburg for a Jack Daniel's Distillery experience. The tour itself was excellent, and our group genuinely enjoyed the time in Lynchburg. The return trip, however, was a significant problem. Even though the company stated that the air conditioning was functioning, the interior temperature of the bus rose to about 95 degrees during the 90‑minute ride back. This was not a brief inconvenience. It was sustained heat that affected multiple passengers, including elderly guests who were visibly struggling. One passenger's phone even overheated and stopped charging, which only happens when the surrounding temperature is extremely high. There were no cooling issues on the morning ride, so the dramatic difference on the return trip strongly suggests that the A/C system was not performing at a level appropriate for passenger comfort or safety, regardless of whether a mechanical fault was later identified. Motorcoach A/C systems are designed to maintain safe interior temperatures even in very hot weather, and that did not occur here. I contacted the company afterward. They acknowledged the discomfort but declined to offer any partial refund, explaining that the bus and its air conditioning were operating properly and that the tour was provided as scheduled. Given the premium price of the tour, and the expectation that transportation will be safe and reasonably climate‑controlled, the response was disappointing. The experience in Lynchburg was great, but the return trip was not acceptable, and the company's unwillingness to offer any accommodation does not reflect the level of customer care I would expect.

The Gray Line Tours Nashville City Tour is a one hour tour showcasing the City of Nashville. The…read moredouble decker bus departs from and arrives at the Riverfront Station at the end of Broadway. On June 26 at 1:00 pm; we experienced this tour. With an AAA discount, the ticket came out to around $33. Cory was our Tour Guide and Leonard was our driver. To get in some nice photos of Nashville, I sat at the top right side of the bus. Regardless that it was brutally hot and humid on this Nashville summer day, it was worth the sweat for the pictures. Here is a tip: facing the windshield, I recommend sitting on the right side of the bus. There were only two points of interest where the tour paused to get a stationary look at an attraction. That was at the Parthenon and The Tennessee State Capitol. Both were on the right. The tour started out following the Cumberland River. An advantage Gray Line has over it's competitor: the Nashville Trolly, is that it crosses over the Cumberland River via the Woodland Street Bridge. From this perspective the tour brought us closer to Nissan Stadium and the future Nissan Stadium. By means of the Korean Veterans Memorial Bridge, it brought us back to Downtown Nashville. Two disadvantages Gray Line has over it's competitor: the Nashville Trolly, are 1) it does not let you get on and off and 2) it bypasses The Gulch and Music Row. Throughout the tour, Cory narrated with an encyclopedic knowledge of information relating to the attractions and City of Nashville. He was willing to answer our questions about where to eat and so on. Due to the fact that there is a Yelp character limit, here is a list of some of the highlights: 1. Fort Nashborough 2. Nissan Stadium 3. Murals 4. AT&T Building 5. Ascend Amphitheatre 6. Music City Center 7. Stix Traffic Circle 8. Custom's House 9. Academy High School 10. Vanderbilt University 11. Centennial Park with the Parthenon 12. Tennessee University 13. Capital District 14. Tennessee State Capitol 15. Musicians Hall of Fame 16. St. Mary of the Seven Sorrows Catholic Church 17. War Memorial (under construction) 18. Hermitage Hotel 19. And Broadway with its attractions and landmarks from 7th Avenue to Riverfront Park. To answer Yelp's question, "What went well?" Seeing and learning a lot about the City of Nashville in one hour while getting in some nice photos from the upper level of the bus. From my experience, I recommend doing this tour on your first full day in Nashville. It is a very good way to get acquainted with Music City USA.

The evening started poorly due to unclear, misleading directions for the meeting location. Thankfully, customer service was excellent--I reached a patient, helpful representative who stayed on the phone until we found our guide. My kid and I eventually met up with the guide, arriving about 15 minutes late due to the confusion. Fortunately, we were the only participants. The guide was polite, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about Franklin's history. However, the delivery felt inexperienced. While the stories were interesting, the lack of engaging storytelling and theatricality made them less compelling. I paid about $65 for the two of us, and the experience felt like it was led by someone still developing their presentation skills. During the tour, we learned Ghost City Tours had only begun operating in Franklin in May 2026--just two months before our July visit--which explains the lack of polish. I wish the company well as it establishes itself, but there are clear areas for improvement, especially with meeting instructions and guide training. If I return to Franklin, I would likely try a different ghost tour company.

During the tour we walked several blocks downtown. I was a bit underwhelmed by the stories except for the one about Skulls rainbow room and an air bnb where someone committed suicide. I did find it fascinating that president Polk was buried in the capital garden & the capitol has 2 architects buried in the walls. I probably would not do this tour again. But glad I checked it off my list.
