Had a great meal here, all the staff and owner were very personable, food was hot and tasty! The owner made time to come over to the table and check in one our meal, that means a lot! We had two different burgers and they were cooked perfectly, little crispy tasty bits around the edges and mid-rare inside! The staff were all knowledgeable and pleasant, waiting to serve. My first time trying O'Maddi's today. Went at lunch and as to be expected it was almost line out the door and with every table full. They were a short staffed, so I'm sure service was a little slower than they would have liked, but I still got greeted with smiles. I got the turkey bacon avocado melt which was absolutely delicious. The toasted bread was good and it had nice amount of turkey and bacon on it along with very fresh avocado. I will definitely be going back to try one of the other interesting sounding sandwiches in the future. read more

Very few people realize the importance of an actively engaged front end to the customer experience unless service is abysmal. O'Maddi's is such a welcoming experience. After puzzling through literally a wall of really enticing choices, actually ordering seems affirming. Everyone is made to feel like O'Maddi's values their business and wants their party to have the best experience possible. The actual food? Both of our sandwiches were well conceived and well made. They were delicious at a price that seemed to us to be extremely reasonable. We were there during Northfield Youth Art month with the artwork of fifth graders gracing the wall. The owner is extremely personable and treats both her guests wonderfully, almost as jf you are dining in her home. It appears like she also treats her employees with respect, checking in with them and helping them, too. The food here is very good, very down home and delicious. I enjoyed both the Ruben, and I'd even say the best Mac and cheese I've ever had at a restaurant. On the way out of town from a Norwich graduation and seeing the covered bridges, we were looking for any lunch place open on a Sunday. O'Maddi's was very busy and we could see why! Luckily, there was a six seater open, so we set out things down and went up and ordered. The manager/owner woman was awesome. So funny and kind. She later even stopped back over to make sure things were still great and refill my mom's drink, because, mother's day. We loved her! I got the avocado turkey melt, someone else ordered the avocado grilled cheese and the ultimate grilled cheese. Can't remember the rest but everyone raved about their meal! Husband and I stopped in this small town on the way to Burlington for a wedding. It's so old school New England! So glad we stopped in o'Maddi's! Split The Salty bird panini - turkey, bacon, cheddar, perfectly grilled on delicious bread. You get the choose your mayo so we got a side of horseradish and a side of cranberry. Was honestly one of the best sandwiches I've ever had! Service was great - so warm and friendly, all seemed to enjoy working together. Like a family. Really nice selection of bagels and sandwiches. They have a lot of deli sandwiches you can get that were pretty unique. It was around breakfast so we went with an egg and cheese with cream cheese and a slice of tomato on a cinnamon raisin bagel. I'd say get there early to really try their bagels as they were sold out of several yummy sounding flavors when we arrived mid-morning. The bagel sandwich was good. I didn't like the tomato as it tasted off but I did find the home made cream cheese delicious. Nice bagel spot - I'd stop in again and probably try one of the deli sandwiches next time. read more

Been here three times, usually because there's something else going on in Northfield. Our most recent stop was after the Sock Sale. We wanted coffee and a scone late on a cold Sunday afternoon which is a tall order for many small Vermont towns but not here. We got big mugs of Green Mountain Coffee, a white chocolate raspberry scone which was amazing, and noodled around for an hour drawing on the chalkboard booth tables and listening to music. The place is clearly a local hangout, the people who worked there recognized and greeted most of the other people there by name and were friendly to us in that "a stranger is just a friend you haven't made yet" way. It's in a sunny location right downtown, easy parking and a great spot whether you want a sandwich or just a cup of coffee. read more

Mrs Coot and I were traveling to a nephew's wedding in VT, so I had to swing through the old Alma Matter to stock up on some alumni stuff. After paying homage to the "Hill" we stopped in town for a bite to eat. I'd heard of a new deli downtown so we thought we'd give it a try. From a mouth watering menu, we selected hot sliced turkey and roast beef panini sandwiches. Both were prepared perfectly and served quickly. Only thing that would make the experience better is if they offered wine and beer. The owner and staff were very friendly and spent time with us talking and sharing stories. We had a simple breakfast to go and it was just what we were looking for. A Greek egg wrap was good and quite filling. I only ate half. My son thought he wanted a bagel and cream cheese, which he said was good. He ate half of the bagel and realized the wrap was really what he wanted. He was happy with both items. My only complaint was my friend had asked to make sure the bill was two separate orders and when we got there they had charged them both together. A minor inconvenience, if anything.
