finally made it here. been wanting for a while. Night started out bad with them assigning the worst table in the place y squeezing us in between other tables. couldn't even fit . had to argue with the very young inexperienced girls running the place. but, that's where it stops and the joy of the food starts. each dish better and better soup dumplings very juicy with the wrapping not too thick . soup inside not too salty. lettuce chicken wraps where amazing but what stole the night were the spare ribs. wow great dish. meat falls off the bone in a great sauce was really impressed with the scallion pancakes. comes out all blown up and super thin. we all shared peking duck. the wraps were super thin and so fresh. the meat was tender but the leg was dried out. also ordered basil chicken dish. wow so much flavor and the spices make your mouth numb in a good way have to say i was pleasantly surprised on the prices very reasonable. waiter was good but service is kinda slow huge parking lot. definitely can't wait to come back. come early this place packs it quickly. read more

Got a table this time!! They were very helpful too when I came to the restaurant and my friend had mistaken the time for the reservation and they allowed me to push it back for her which was great! We started with the lettuce wraps which were amazing. The chengdu rice again which isn't my favorite, there's something in there that I don't like but I can't figure out what the flavor is, it's just not something I'm used to. The soup dumplings were amazing I love truffle and I'm so happy about this addition to the menu! The braised beef clay pot was so yummy and warm and hearty, perfect for a chilly day. The thing that I am still befuddled by is that I had stomach issues again the next day! I didn't even have the same menu items as last time so I'm not sure what the issue is. This restaurant is in the same plaza as H-Mart, so we decided to try it beforehand. We love the decor and the atmosphere. Plenty of seating and we were seated at a booth. The price is a bit higher than the average Chinese restaurant but the food quality is great. We were careful in choosing the dishes as many dishes seem to be spicy (we had a child with us). The soup buns were excellent (taste authentic) and we also had the chicken chow mein and walnut shrimp. Both were cooked to perfection. The walnut shrimp was made with jumbo size shrimp. Crispy and coated with a mayo with slighty wasabi flavor and candied walnuts. So yummy... But the cream was a bit spicy for our child. The dish came with either a bowl of white or brown rice. We opted for the white rice. Between the 3 dishes ordered, we had leftovers (2 adults and a child). Very happy with this restaurant. We will be back to try more things! read more

This is a lovely spot for lunch or dinner or a date night. The food is delicious. It had the famous fish soup and it was perfect on this cold and rainy day. The broth was full of flavor, the fish was perfectly cooked, the veggies made it even better. We also enjoyed the mapo tofu, the lo main, the walnut shrimp and the various dumplings. I always have a wonderful experience here. The restaurant is lovely, service is good, and food is very good. Being Sat night, it was crowded so three of us sat at the bar, and were served very quickly. Usually, I go off hours and don't have trouble getting a table. This time we had the dan dan noodles, peppercorn and woodear mushroom appetizer, scallion bubble pancake, and Fluke Filet in Rice Wine Sauce, Garlic Dry Rub Ribs. All the dishes were wonderful and recommended. Scallion pancakes are always very nice. The fish was mild with a savory light sauce. The ribs are meaty and crispy with little bits of garlic . I've come here for their lunch specials in the past and they are lovely, especially the basil dishes - my favorite is basil shrimp. Decided to come here for a dinner date after hearing so many great things. Upon entering I was definitely surprised at how beautiful it is inside you would never guess from the outside. We started off with the soup dumplings of course, but it was such a let down. The dough itself tasted almost clay like and the meat inside barely any flavor and barely any broth. The Trader Joe's soup dumplings have more flavor if you ask me. For our entrees I got the kung pao shrimp and scallop. That spicy level next to it does not give it any justice. It's not really spicy as it is numbing. I could barely taste anything after that with how numb my mouth became. And the sauce was just soooo oily and the scallops were not even the real juicy scallops that you usually get nicely seared on each side. They were just thinly sliced and still had the little foot on it which is not optimal. We also got the triple delight and that was delicious!! The sauce was robust and flavorful and worked amazingly on the chicken, steak and shrimp. I liked how they also give you the option of white or brown rice. I also have to give a shout out to the soda gun I presume they gave us our soda from. We ordered Pepsi and it had that wonderful prickly bubbliness that you can only get from a can so that was surprising. Most spots the soda is soo watered down. This is definitely the most overlooked thing in most restaurants! I honestly keep raving about this being the greatest Chinese restaurant that I had ever been to. I could never forget the flavor and quality of ingredients in the beef stew so I know that I had to come back. When I came back although I was tempted to enjoy the stew again I really wanted to try something new. I went for the kung pao chicken and white rice. I had a good feeling about the food and I was right. My expectations were exceeded. While the service took a little while, the flavor and the quality was worth it. We ordered our food to go so we didn't dine in the restaurant. The food traveled nicely and it was still good even though it wasn't directly fresh out of the kitchen. The portions were huge and filling, but the food tasted just as nice when it was left over the next day. The person who helped us with our order was also really nice and made the experience just as nice as if we stayed in. The food and experience were not disappointing. My parents loved their meals as well. I got a taste of the food that they ordered as well and so far I can honestly say that everything I have tried, everything I had tasted, and everything that I have seen come out of the kitchen that members of my party had ordered was delicious and worth the trip up to West Chester. It's a shame that I don't live near this restaurant because I would order from here a lot more often. I recommend that anyone who lives in the neighborhood or plans on visiting to come here and enjoy the food, ESPECIALLY the beef stew. I came here a few weeks ago with my grandmother who's a big fan of this restaurant. Our waiter, Yusef was amazing and very patient with her. We both ordered from the lunch specials which were delicious! They came with soup and a bowl of rice as well. We tried the toro dessert, which was surprisingly good - although a unique flavor. Very pleasantly surprised at the delicious meal we had at O Mandarin, in white plains. I found this spot through good yelp reviews and decided to stop by for lunch. I was a bit sad that they did not have the lunch special menu, which I did see in other reviews as being available on Sundays too. However that is not the case lunch specials menu only for weekdays. When we walked in, the decor is very nice. The service was quick and attentive and oh the food came out lightning speed! I was so surprised. However I learned from our server that today was a slow day and that usually on a typical Sunday lunch there would be a 40+ min wait! I was shocked! albeit the restaurant was very full. We ordered the Dan Dan noodles to start, which was so spicy it made me numb. I would not order this again. And then we ordered the eggplant, basil chicken and the thousand tofu layer. I asked for all the dishes to be no/ low spicy. Which they were able to for the mains. But not for the Dan dan noodles which numb my tongue! Overall great service. O Mandarin was an excellent find. I haven't been having much luck finding good spots in the Westchester area for a satisfying lunch with my parents but I had a good feeling about O Mandarin on account that it shares the same strip mall with an H Mart. (Here's a secret to sniffing out a worthwhile joint - look up the various H Mart locations and see which restaurants are next door. Chances are, the food should be pretty good for hungry shoppers who want something besides the food court.) The inside leans hard into the kitschy, made to look like the interior of an ancient Chinese temple. If they were also playing twinkly flute music to complete the atmosphere, I wouldn't be surprised. But lots of Chinese families eating there, and so again, I was optimistic. The menu is diverse, with a Szechuan influence, but there are also buns and dumplings if you want to scratch a dim sum itch. We ordered the following, all of which I'd order again, except for maybe the tofu and veggie clay pot: 1. Beef rib: By far my favorite. The rib was (as the cliche goes) fall off the bone tender, no need to use the accompanying knife. I loved the cubes of fried taro hidden in the sauce. 2. Deep fried whole fish in black bean sauce: A dish that my family will almost always order if we see it on the menu. This was a fantastic rendition, fish was fried well enough to preserve the flaky white meat. 3. Chongqing chili chicken: I'm not the biggest fan of the spicy, numbing part of this dish but my husband loved it and was inhaling the peppers whole. 4. Tofu and veggie clay pot: I would go with another vegetable dish next time. I loved the cut-up tofu but everything was slathered in that super thick, indeterminate brown sauce that made everything taste one-note. Dishes come with your choice of white or brown rice. Given the weekend lunch hour, it was a little hard flagging down a waiter when we needed extra utensils or a refill of the tea, but otherwise no complaints. In the course of running errands I saw it there thinking I haven't been there in years. Glad I made the stop. Started with hot and sour soup which is literally the best I ever had. Then the smoked duck. Just amazing crispy taste. I took half home for the next day, but alas. It didn't make it as it was devoured that night. I ordered five takeout items. First, I asked for chowfun, she said it was not available but beef lo mein was. So I agree with beef lo mein instead of chowfun. Obviously the ingredient is much more available with lo mein, the second dish I ordered was Szechuan basil chicken, which is interesting because they used leak along with other vegetables stirfry in this dish. The third dish I ordered was soup dumpling chicken and truffle. Other appetizers that were ordered were cold dishes woods ear and jelly fish. The cold dish tasted good. Other dishes were average. I finally found a dine in Chinese restaurant with great food and service. My son and I decided to try this place for lunch and I'm so glad we went. We started with apps, spring rolls and soup dumplings which were piping hot and very fresh. My only complaint is that we really wanted regular dumplings but they come with pork and shrimp combined (my son is allergic to shellfish) so we settled on the soup dumplings. They were delicious as were the spring rolls. We then ordered sesame chicken, shrimp and broccoli (for me) and we shared an order of beef fried rice. I don't think I've ever ordered shrimp and broccoli and was given more than five shrimps - my plate was full of large size shrimp, fresh broccoli and it comes with white rice. I also tasted my son's sesame chicken and it was just as good too! It was so much food we couldn't finish it all and took the rest home. The one thing I noticed is that when I reheated my food the next day it was just as good as the first day - that's a rarity in my opinion. Our waiter was very good and very attentive to our needs and the decor is really nice. While it isn't the cheapest restaurant it isn't the most expensive and the food is definitely worth it. The last 2 takeout orders have been wildly over salted and fried foods have been soggy as if they were pre cooked and then reheated. Threw out the leftovers. A friend of mine been telling me to come here his daughter-in-law is Chinese and he says it's amazing and she likes it so for a date night we decided to come. It's right next to the H Central Avenue so I had mistaken it as part of HR and didn't realize it's there. The place is lovely to look at waterfall at the entrance seating to wait at and people at the bar as we are seated. I order house sake quite good pretty little glasses we had dim sum Soup dumplings were delicious chicken filled with trouble new on the menu. I ordered a duck fried rice, which is personal favorite with bone in fish hole fried you had a choice between a sweet-and-sour and a bean sauce. I ordered the beans sauce, yummy, and my boyfriends triple delight with pine nuts was to die for I wish I had ordered that even though my fish was quite good Our waiter Walter went out of his way to be accommodating and kind and explain anything we need and ask us if we need sauces or any special attention to dessert more cocktails he was very attentive. I brought my wife and son for Valentines Day here for dinner. It was packed 45-60 wait. The service and ambiance was great. We ordered like six dishes some were good some were mediocre. However the food is NOT spicy. As with restaurants outside of Flushing NY. The food is cooked so caucasians can enjoy it so it really tweeted. If you order one thing it's gotta be the eggplant. It's so flavorful I could eat an entire bowl of it (and if it weren't for sharing it with others, I could have because the portions are generous!) The thousand layer tofu was also delicious and unique (to me). Seemed similar to Aburage- a Japanese tofu preparation with thinly sliced fried tofu, that was then stir fried with veggies and a tasty sauce. The chow mein was pretty standard and great to round out the meal. It all came with two portions of rice, on a whim I chose the brown rice which was shockingly delicious. Since moving from the UWS, I've lamented the lack of good Chinese options in Westchester. I used to have an awesome Sichuan restaurant that delivered to me in 15min, so did not recognize the true luxury that was. After going through a few underwhelming options, I happened upon O Mandarin. Place has the reviews and a cool looking menu, so after seeing something that looked like my favorite dish (spicy shrimp with red pepper), I gave it a shot for delivery. They send in fancy customized bags which is kind of cool. Soup dumplings were a very good rendition of a classic. Good quality port too. I got the wild pepper shrimp as you might be able to guess. This was a lot really good quality shrimp, in a slightly spicy sauce. I was a little disappointed as I was hoping for a crapton of Sichuan peppercorns, however it was still pretty tasty. Not sure why there were so many damned onions though. My wife liked her lo mein too. Will keep searching for a place that does shrimp with red pepper the way I like it. This place is probably awesome in person, and there's a lot of interesting things on the menu, however for delivery it's a bit pricey. 10/10. I never imagined such an amazing restaurant could be found in an unassuming strip mall right next to a BBQ Chicken and an H Mart. I came here with a party of 8 for a graduation party, and it was the perfect choice of restaurant. The service was spectacular; the staff even provided candles for our cake! And the food was outstanding. The scallion bubble pancake is a unique take on the typical scallion pancake, and it was so addicting to eat - especially paired with the curry sauce. The peking duck was also delicious, along with the several other dishes I tried (smoked duck fried rice, dan dan noodles, cold jellyfish salad, pork belly and cabbage, etc.). The whole fish was beautifully presented, and the sweet and sour sauce was a great choice. The fish was also deboned, which I appreciated as someone who doesn't like eating fish with bones.
