I can't believe I've lived in Westchester so long and never tried O Mandarin! It was so good! The restaurant itself has a great ambiance, a little dark (in a good way), and probably great at night. The service was excellent, with not only our waiter helping, but food runners and bussers assisting as well. And the food was delicious! The soup dumplings were delicious- I think I could just eat a big serving of those. My seafood hotpot was full of wonderful shrimp, scallops and much more, all very tasty. They said it would be "spicy", but it really wasn't very, so if you don't like extremely spicy food, you'll be ok (But maybe ask them for it to be a little spicer than normal if you do like very spicy food). My sister was visiting from Italy and, after a steady diet of spaghetti and meatballs, she was ready for something completely different. Omanderine in Hartsdale turned out to be the perfect choice. We started with the classic soup dumplings--there's definitely an art to eating them without spilling the broth or burning your mouth, but that's part of the fun. They were delicious. We also had the vegetable dumplings, which were just as satisfying. For our main dishes, we ordered the beef short ribs, which were generously portioned and full of flavor, along with beef chow mein and vegetable and egg fried rice. My personal favorite was the chicken and broccoli in a rich sauce which really stood out. The service was excellent. Our waiter was attentive, offered great recommendations, and even brought me a fork when it became clear my chopstick skills needed some work. The décor transports you and complements the dining experience beautifully. Ohhhhh where are my manners. Welcome to O Mandarin of the hamlet known as Hartsdale. You may acknowledge this hamlet as the direct creator of the first Carvel. Your lady may know the area for it's shopping centers. But let's reverse the story and talk about how those in the area know O Mandarin as the go-to Chinese location within town. On a sweaty yet chilly night on the mountain I wear out my days atop, I did feel the necessity for some grease lightning in my veins. Those who know, know that 2025 was the year of self-recognition for many; Finally realizing the Chinese man/woman that lives inside us all. But yes... that lava-like frozen night on the top of the peak of which I typically reside upon... I, a newly found Chinese man, began to ponder. In the forenoon, I performed an advanced tai chi sequence of which burned an excess of calories. I mixed in a bit of Yang, Chen and Wu. My internal energy crescendoed, and I stored up this potential energy for a later time. The time had come. I began to mull over options, utilizing that stored and compact energico. I - in traditional fashion, placed my milky and subtly manly yet intricate hands behind my back, lifted my shirt just enough to showcase half my belly button as well as the entirety of a happy trail which was cornered by the remnant peaks and valleys of tapered obliques. It was one of those winters. Dirty bulk. Needed to add muscle to a frame that some begged to question: "Is there really even more muscle in this word to add?" Others, such as my grandmother, would tell you differently. But what does she know. I shan't worry about the summer cut that I will (and have) inevitably side-stepped. I live in the moment. And in that moment, on that toasty yet frigid night along the coast of the pinnacle of which I'm placed, I knew I needed something to clog my already choking arteries. - My cookie numbers in the month of December bypassed a century mid-way through the calendar. I was handling temporary diabetes well. The acute symptoms of a piss per hour, shortness of breath, and new fat corroding my core didn't stray me away from the course. On this journey, I had many a greasy nights. It's perfect for winter. Cuddled up with my own fat, I lay back in a coated serenity... pale and pudgy... delighted but weary of the general joy I find within what should be a desolate sadness. The Joker may pair well with the Queen, but doesn't the Joker really need to be the Queen's Ace of Spades? Possibly a King? A balance difficult to strike. But if we don't strive for perfection, then how do we end up with more Linguini's? - Anyways... nearly flailing from heart attacks, I stared out the window across the trees into my neighbor's living room 1000 yards away. I seeked... sook... sought inspiration for my night's meal. I began to rage and show signs of a true outburst. The energy from my Tai Chi postures was spilling over. My eternal happiness was being intercepted by despair. Hey tubby - Why don't you eat what's in the fridge? Hey box boy, why don't you drop and give me 50? Hey loner, why don't you go do calisthenics at the park? Hey kid, why don't ya grow up? Good thing I was too distracted by my chiseled face in the glare of my neighbors window 1000 yards in the distance. You so handsome. You need soup. Of course. I should've known. The only inspiration I needed was from myself. Eureka, I refused to yell for I am no chum and surely not a bum. But Eureka I surely experienced. I lifted my chin in congratulatory fashion to myself, tilted my eyes into the sky. The first drop of flurry. It was time. Chinese time. When it's delivery time in Westchester, there are only a few places to even truly order from. The lack of good Chinese in this area is disparaging more than it's disappointing. If you are above or at the border of a certain town and up - There are no questions. O Mandarin provides the answers. Solid soup. Nice dumplings. Good Fried Rice. Decent noods. Good General Tsos. Some additional good and unique players. Quality protein. You don't feel gross from the ingredients, you just feel gross from the sheer quantity that you destroy. The way it should be. Nothing's really kicked my shins, nor has anything blown my socks off but they definitely do a solid job of keeping you coming back the next time. I've also picked up a few times to survey the entrance of where I'm placing my trust upon, lovely ambiance in their restaurant. I'll have to actually eat-in once. You can't make me, but I can make myself. If you're willing to eat in, then it must be solid. You can do much worse, but I don't really think you can do much better for takeout in most of Westchester. A worthy four stars. We are in the middle of the year of the fire horse. Don't tame him. Got a table this time!! They were very helpful too when I came to the restaurant and my friend had mistaken the time for the reservation and they allowed me to push it back for her which was great! We started with the lettuce wraps which were amazing. The chengdu rice again which isn't my favorite, there's something in there that I don't like but I can't figure out what the flavor is, it's just not something I'm used to. The soup dumplings were amazing I love truffle and I'm so happy about this addition to the menu! The braised beef clay pot was so yummy and warm and hearty, perfect for a chilly day. The thing that I am still befuddled by is that I had stomach issues again the next day! I didn't even have the same menu items as last time so I'm not sure what the issue is. This restaurant is in the same plaza as H-Mart, so we decided to try it beforehand. We love the decor and the atmosphere. Plenty of seating and we were seated at a booth. The price is a bit higher than the average Chinese restaurant but the food quality is great. We were careful in choosing the dishes as many dishes seem to be spicy (we had a child with us). The soup buns were excellent (taste authentic) and we also had the chicken chow mein and walnut shrimp. Both were cooked to perfection. The walnut shrimp was made with jumbo size shrimp. Crispy and coated with a mayo with slighty wasabi flavor and candied walnuts. So yummy... But the cream was a bit spicy for our child. The dish came with either a bowl of white or brown rice. We opted for the white rice. Between the 3 dishes ordered, we had leftovers (2 adults and a child). Very happy with this restaurant. We will be back to try more things! read more

I always have a wonderful experience here. The restaurant is lovely, service is good, and food is very good. Being Sat night, it was crowded so three of us sat at the bar, and were served very quickly. Usually, I go off hours and don't have trouble getting a table. This time we had the dan dan noodles, peppercorn and woodear mushroom appetizer, scallion bubble pancake, and Fluke Filet in Rice Wine Sauce, Garlic Dry Rub Ribs. All the dishes were wonderful and recommended. Scallion pancakes are always very nice. The fish was mild with a savory light sauce. The ribs are meaty and crispy with little bits of garlic . I've come here for their lunch specials in the past and they are lovely, especially the basil dishes - my favorite is basil shrimp. I honestly keep raving about this being the greatest Chinese restaurant that I had ever been to. I could never forget the flavor and quality of ingredients in the beef stew so I know that I had to come back. When I came back although I was tempted to enjoy the stew again I really wanted to try something new. I went for the kung pao chicken and white rice. I had a good feeling about the food and I was right. My expectations were exceeded. While the service took a little while, the flavor and the quality was worth it. We ordered our food to go so we didn't dine in the restaurant. The food traveled nicely and it was still good even though it wasn't directly fresh out of the kitchen. The portions were huge and filling, but the food tasted just as nice when it was left over the next day. The person who helped us with our order was also really nice and made the experience just as nice as if we stayed in. The food and experience were not disappointing. My parents loved their meals as well. I got a taste of the food that they ordered as well and so far I can honestly say that everything I have tried, everything I had tasted, and everything that I have seen come out of the kitchen that members of my party had ordered was delicious and worth the trip up to West Chester. It's a shame that I don't live near this restaurant because I would order from here a lot more often. I recommend that anyone who lives in the neighborhood or plans on visiting to come here and enjoy the food, ESPECIALLY the beef stew. Decided to come here for a dinner date after hearing so many great things. Upon entering I was definitely surprised at how beautiful it is inside you would never guess from the outside. We started off with the soup dumplings of course, but it was such a let down. The dough itself tasted almost clay like and the meat inside barely any flavor and barely any broth. The Trader Joe's soup dumplings have more flavor if you ask me. For our entrees I got the kung pao shrimp and scallop. That spicy level next to it does not give it any justice. It's not really spicy as it is numbing. I could barely taste anything after that with how numb my mouth became. And the sauce was just soooo oily and the scallops were not even the real juicy scallops that you usually get nicely seared on each side. They were just thinly sliced and still had the little foot on it which is not optimal. We also got the triple delight and that was delicious!! The sauce was robust and flavorful and worked amazingly on the chicken, steak and shrimp. I liked how they also give you the option of white or brown rice. I also have to give a shout out to the soda gun I presume they gave us our soda from. We ordered Pepsi and it had that wonderful prickly bubbliness that you can only get from a can so that was surprising. Most spots the soda is soo watered down. This is definitely the most overlooked thing in most restaurants! Very pleasantly surprised at the delicious meal we had at O Mandarin, in white plains. I found this spot through good yelp reviews and decided to stop by for lunch. I was a bit sad that they did not have the lunch special menu, which I did see in other reviews as being available on Sundays too. However that is not the case lunch specials menu only for weekdays. When we walked in, the decor is very nice. The service was quick and attentive and oh the food came out lightning speed! I was so surprised. However I learned from our server that today was a slow day and that usually on a typical Sunday lunch there would be a 40+ min wait! I was shocked! albeit the restaurant was very full. We ordered the Dan Dan noodles to start, which was so spicy it made me numb. I would not order this again. And then we ordered the eggplant, basil chicken and the thousand tofu layer. I asked for all the dishes to be no/ low spicy. Which they were able to for the mains. But not for the Dan dan noodles which numb my tongue! Overall great service. I haven't been having much luck finding good spots in the Westchester area for a satisfying lunch with my parents but I had a good feeling about O Mandarin on account that it shares the same strip mall with an H Mart. (Here's a secret to sniffing out a worthwhile joint - look up the various H Mart locations and see which restaurants are next door. Chances are, the food should be pretty good for hungry shoppers who want something besides the food court.) The inside leans hard into the kitschy, made to look like the interior of an ancient Chinese temple. If they were also playing twinkly flute music to complete the atmosphere, I wouldn't be surprised. But lots of Chinese families eating there, and so again, I was optimistic. The menu is diverse, with a Szechuan influence, but there are also buns and dumplings if you want to scratch a dim sum itch. We ordered the following, all of which I'd order again, except for maybe the tofu and veggie clay pot: 1. Beef rib: By far my favorite. The rib was (as the cliche goes) fall off the bone tender, no need to use the accompanying knife. I loved the cubes of fried taro hidden in the sauce. 2. Deep fried whole fish in black bean sauce: A dish that my family will almost always order if we see it on the menu. This was a fantastic rendition, fish was fried well enough to preserve the flaky white meat. 3. Chongqing chili chicken: I'm not the biggest fan of the spicy, numbing part of this dish but my husband loved it and was inhaling the peppers whole. 4. Tofu and veggie clay pot: I would go with another vegetable dish next time. I loved the cut-up tofu but everything was slathered in that super thick, indeterminate brown sauce that made everything taste one-note. Dishes come with your choice of white or brown rice. Given the weekend lunch hour, it was a little hard flagging down a waiter when we needed extra utensils or a refill of the tea, but otherwise no complaints. I finally found a dine in Chinese restaurant with great food and service. My son and I decided to try this place for lunch and I'm so glad we went. We started with apps, spring rolls and soup dumplings which were piping hot and very fresh. My only complaint is that we really wanted regular dumplings but they come with pork and shrimp combined (my son is allergic to shellfish) so we settled on the soup dumplings. They were delicious as were the spring rolls. We then ordered sesame chicken, shrimp and broccoli (for me) and we shared an order of beef fried rice. I don't think I've ever ordered shrimp and broccoli and was given more than five shrimps - my plate was full of large size shrimp, fresh broccoli and it comes with white rice. I also tasted my son's sesame chicken and it was just as good too! It was so much food we couldn't finish it all and took the rest home. The one thing I noticed is that when I reheated my food the next day it was just as good as the first day - that's a rarity in my opinion. Our waiter was very good and very attentive to our needs and the decor is really nice. While it isn't the cheapest restaurant it isn't the most expensive and the food is definitely worth it. A friend of mine been telling me to come here his daughter-in-law is Chinese and he says it's amazing and she likes it so for a date night we decided to come. I ordered the beans sauce, yummy, and my boyfriends triple delight with pine nuts was to die for I wish I had ordered that even though my fish was quite good Our waiter Walter went out of his way to be accommodating and kind and explain anything we need and ask us if we need sauces or any special attention to dessert more cocktails he was very attentive. If you order one thing it's gotta be the eggplant. It's so flavorful I could eat an entire bowl of it (and if it weren't for sharing it with others, I could have because the portions are generous!) The thousand layer tofu was also delicious and unique (to me). Seemed similar to Aburage- a Japanese tofu preparation with thinly sliced fried tofu, that was then stir fried with veggies and a tasty sauce. The chow mein was pretty standard and great to round out the meal. It all came with two portions of rice, on a whim I chose the brown rice which was shockingly delicious.
