    General Tso's Chicken

Mister Chen is an authentic Chinese restaurant located on a strip with several Asian cuisine spots, so the competition here is stiff. I enjoyed my visit overall, but my ratings are very much based on comparison with similar restaurants in the area. Pork Belly Sandwich (B-) This was the most underwhelming dish for me, though I'll admit I'm a tough critic since I order pork belly whenever it's on the menu. The bao bun itself was delicious, but the pork lacked depth of flavor and leaned a bit dry, even with the added peanuts. Not bad--just not standout. General Tso's Chicken (A-) Excellent quality chicken--some of the best I've had for this dish. I would've liked a bit more heat, but it was flavorful and well executed regardless. Lychee Martini (A) Well made with a great balance of sweetness and alcohol. Easily one of the highlights of the meal. The space is casual but pleasant, with a small bar and ample seating for the area. Service was friendly and attentive, which added to the overall experience.

Nice space and great location, just doesn't deliver the correct flavor on the food. I ordered the salt and pepper calamari and it did not look right, batter issue. It should be light and airy, but it was thick. I did like the fried onions and garlic thrown on top though. The shrimp and pork wontons in spicy chili oil fell flat. The chili oil and wontons lacked flavor and the wrappers were not soft. Sigh... you may fare better sticking to basic Chinese American fare, but that was not what I wanted. I wanted to pike this place, but can't. My son ordered the roast pork mei fun and enjoyed his food. Service was good and prompt.

Based on recent reviews and my two most recent visits, this place seems to be in a steady decline. Aside from a couple of good apps (the rock shrimp and scratch-made soup dumplings are both excellent), their main dishes have lately been very underwhelming. But the bigger issue is the service. Most of the employees, at least during our past two visits, have been late teens/early 20s, and it shows. There was confusion with our order, drinks were forgotten, dishes were coming out at random times, and we were asked by different staff members on multiple occasions if we wanted to order and if we wanted the check after another staff member had already done so like five minutes prior. Staff seemed somewhat overwhelmed, but the place was nearly empty by 8:30pm. My friend has sworn by this place for years, but after our most recent visit he said he'd never come again. I agree.

Really enjoyed my trip here on a recommendation from my brother. The buns are a can't-miss! I love that they tasted fresh and were cooked to order. I had the pad Thai and it tasted delicious, I wish I had more peanuts offered in the beginning. Everyone in our party enjoyed what they ordered, very happy we stopped here.

We were deeply, pleasantly surprised by our latest delivery from Mister Chen. It will not be the last! I was scared even to get the soup dumplings since I've had a lot of awful experiences ordering delivery soup dumplings. It's obviously not the preferred method of consumption. However, the ones we got were the best I've had since moving from Queens. It's pricey, but I'd gladly pay it again given the quality. The mapo tofu was a little divisive in my household, but I thought it was quite good and closer to authenticity than I've had at other establishments. It was decently spicy, too. (My partner said it tasted like tea. I'm not sure what he meant by that.) I'd say the Dan Dandan Noodle ($9) was good but not my fave. Good price for the size, though.

Came here for dinner before a movie on a Friday and it was a really good choice! We didn't have a reservation but we did get seated as soon as we arrived. Def busy for a Friday! I knew I had to order the soup dumplings so decided to order it as an entree. The scallion pancakes were good too! Would definitely be returning here!

I have very nice lunch here. Soup dumplings are fantastic! I ordered basil chicken and my friend ordered steamed chicken and broccoli with garlic sauce on the side. The wonton soup that came with the meals was very good. Food is good, but portions are small. We used to take home half the lunch special and now we eat the entire thing. Higher prices and smaller portions.

Service was good, 红烧牛肉面 was very good and the 蟹粉小笼包 was fantastic. We've sworn by this place for years now.

My officemate is Peruvian and we order from here almost every week. We still come here for their lunch specials because for $16, they offer a good deal that includes an entree with sides, a soup and a drink. Daily specials can include various stews with chicken, beef or pork with different vegetables and stir fried meats. The 2 standards they have every day is a fried fish fillet and pollo a la brasa, Peruvian rotisserie chicken, which come with choice of 2 sides (rice, fries, salad). The soup will be either chicken, beef or pork based, usually with some pasta, potato and chunk of corn on the cob. I think I've tried just about all of them, mostly taking out, but sometimes dining in when we have extra time for lunch. We call in before lunch to find out the daily specials and assemble an order. The office favorite is Lomo Saltado. That always gets everybody put in an order and we end up bringing back like 9-10 lunches. "Oh"? suddenly he goes back and comes out with our entrees'. i usually have linguini with white clam but tonite I opted for veal saltimboca. BIG MISTAKE the veal was just warm and the prosciutto was CRUNCHY like it had been sitting under heat lamps. i asked about potato instead of pasta and he upcharged me for roasted potatos that were hard as rocks. he basically ignored us the rest of the night. finally i grabbed the bus boy about dessert. the tera missus is FANTASTIC! the busboy brought the coffee too. our waiter was nowhere to be found. Pretzel as appetizer was humungous. Not sure there as any salt and could have been a little more cooked/crispy. The calamari was cosmopolitan and could have been i) more generously seasoned and ii) cooked a bit more/crisper. The stuffed shrimp was good--nicely seasoned crab--perfectly cooked and of average flavor overall...maybe a hair better than ok. Fries were a little overcooked. Spinach was steamed and unremarkable. Of note--the mashed potatoes seemed to have vinegar in them. Maybe that's how they cook them in Germany but neither too creamy (like cream-taste) nor overly buttery. Overall it was average or maybe a bit more or a bit less. If I came back--and might just do that because service was very good--I'd probably get the wings or a burger and request fries to be lightly fried...and maybe have a few adult beverages prior.
