I had a frustrating experience at O'Reilly Auto Parts. I came in for a simple purchase, a car fuse, and found myself about 15 people deep in line. Several customers ahead were engaged in longer part consultations at the counter, which slowed everything down. I asked a team member if there was a separate line for quick, over the counter purchases. I was directed to the same line, with no alternative option. Key issues: No separation between quick purchases and detailed consultations Long wait times for simple transactions Inefficient use of staff during peak demand There were at least 4 to 5 customers ahead of me making quick purchases, yet all were stuck waiting behind lengthy consultations. This created unnecessary delays. If the goal is to improve in store sales and customer experience, consider: Assigning one staff member to handle quick purchases Creating a separate line for simple transactions Managing consultation flow more efficiently This process needs improvement. Walked out and left the fuse behind. I made my purchase on Amazon for a lot less with overnight delivery. read more

We needed some parts we couldn't find at AutoZone. We stopped at O'Reilly's and JR I think his name was. Best cool guy ever. He is very knowledgeable. He explain everything so well to our understanding. Amazing Amazing people person. I will come back to the Chester location. I call him. I tell him what we are working on and he checks the closest location for us and the part. We do t even mind driving to him. He makes us feel like family. I was just amazed at his Customer Service skills. I have not had any Customer Service anywhere since Covid. It just made me feel so appreciated as a customer.. five stars for the guy! read more

Made an online order for spark plugs for pickup. When I arrived I stood there at the pickup sign for about 10 mins. Not a single employee said hello or we'll be with you or nothing. Watched 3 of their employees walk past me just looked and keep on going. Finally a lady walk past close enough for me to tell her "I'm just here to pick up an order" when she finally stop and checked me out. I asked her a few questions and realized she knew nothing about basic car information. All I asked was were they pre gap and what the gap was. I don't believe I would ever wrote this kind of review for an Auto Parts shop, but just last Friday while driving up to the bay, I had a flat tire in the middle of the night at 10 pm. After calling a couple of 24/7 road side assistance locations who said they can't help replace my tire until the next day, at the earliest, I decided to just try my luck at this auto shop because they were open until midnight. Paul picked up and really came through for me. He said he might know a place and asked me for my tire number. He called me back in the next 15 min and said he found a place that not only has my tire, but will also make sure my tires are balance. As a result, I went to Torres tires a couple of miles with a spare tire. Torres tire fixed replace my tire right away and looked at the rest of my tire to make sure all okay for a reasonably low fee! I'm sincerely grateful for Paul's help and hope his supervisor and manager know what a great employee and person they have. This is the only auto parts shop I'll ever stop by when I'm in the Bakersfield area. Thanks so much Paul! read more

I don't normally review auto parts stores, but this store, and one of the employees deserves a 'shout-out'. Paul was more than polite and accommodating as I struggled with a car problem that required a tow truck to Tehachapi. After one tow truck service left us waiting for half an hour and then cancelled, Paul called a company that towed our car to Tehachapi for significantly less than the original company. The driver was polite and patient! Thank you Paul! Paul and José both deserve and 'atta-boy' from the manager. These guys are examples of how to run a successful business. No doubt that there are plenty of other customers who appreciate their customer service skills. Good managers get how essential people like Paul and José are to a business! read more

This place is great. Today, I pulled up at this place with my 2001 BMW 330ci to buy some oil for it as it had no more oil in it. I'm starting to learn more about cars now as it's my first ever vehicle. The employee who served me helped me pick out the right kind of oil and was nice enough to walk out of the store with me to put in the oil for me. They recommend that I go to any Jiffy Lube location to get an oil change as soon as possible. I'm coming here again in the future to purchase more car supplies. This is a to go to place from now on. This auto shop deserves a 5 star review for sure. They just gained a new customer. read more

I never thought I'd be reviewing an auto parts store, but here I am. I needed a heater bypass valve ASAP for a SAAB, and SAAB owners know parts for these cars often have to be ordered. I searched everywhere in the lower SJ valley, and this and another O'Reilly store in Fresno were the only ones that had it in stock. Honestly, I was surprised to have even found it. Kudos to the store for having it in stock - I hope you continue stocking rare items, even if just one. It was cheap and had lifetime warranty, too. I'll keep this experience in mind next time I need auto parts. PS. If you need to check what O'Reilly store around you has a specific item in stock, you can check on their website. I went in because my battery died and wanted to buy a new battery and have them put it in. My car was dead and I had a handicap sister in the car and a dog. We were on the way to the beach and I needed help. The workers inside could care less. They refused to sell and install a battery for me even after I drew their attention to the window which said they would do it. I left and sat in my car and a nice young man (I'm 70) jumped my car and followed me to Auto Zone where they put in a new battery with a smile and a wave. I do not frequent Oreillys ever for my auto parts needs. I was reminded why my instinct is usually correct. On a Sunday evening I found myself in need of a part and no other auto stores open except for Oreillys on Chester avenue. There were two gentleman working. Neither of them greeted any customer much less looked up to extend the courtesy of informing anyone they would be with us shortly. I looked up my light bulb number myself on my phone and proceeded to wait 20 minutes in line. One employee stared at an alternator for most the time trying to figure out what was obvious to everyone in line and the other employee walked back and forth from a socket on the floor to his screen. The phone rang and rang and customers waited patiently. I realize that at 9 at night they may be tired, but the motivation level was low for someone who's job it is to look at a screen and grab a part n ring someone up. When I finally got to the register the guy didn't even tell me a total he just stared at me as I handed my 50 dollar bill and finally had to ask what my total even was. I am certain that next time I will just wait until the next day and avoid that place all together. That store needs a lesson in customer service. read more
