After spending thousands of dollars between oil changes and minor repairs all these years, I dropped my vehicle with an ignition issue while I went on vacation and asked that it was taken care of while I was off work and could afford to leave it. When I got back and picked it up, I assumed the issue was handled because I was called and told it was "all set" and when I picked up and paid hundreds I was given a new key and told "all set".. With that said, the issue wasn't fixed, apparently and since has seemed to have gotten worse. When I called to find out what might've happened I was told that I would be taken care of today, but when I showed up, I experienced something very different. Following my phone conversation, I was told that this obviously wasn't taken care of and that I would be taken care of financially if I brought it back in today and instead, when I did, I learned it's my fault that the entirety of the check wasn't complete when I dropped off the vehicle last time! I asked to speak to the manager, and this person can't even look me in the eye and tell me how it is gonna cost me an additional $200 for something that I thought I paid for and maybe I did already pay for! Instead of giving me the service or a discount at least, I'm meant to be argued with on that point because I wasn't apparently under the hood myself to make sure it was done the first time. Then I'm told that it wasn't written up that way, as if I wrote down the issue to it myself. None of this should be on a customer! Customers should be able to drop their vehicle, describe their issue and ask that it gets taken care of, return being told it's taken care of, and then, if it isn't taken care of the way they were told, they should be able to come back and have that service completed with the funds that they've already spent on that issue. if you want your vehicle taken care of, I recommend a different service station because you just don't know if you were getting what you paid for in this place and your customer service is going to be a disappointing experience if you try to address that. This is my first ever review and I hate having to do this, but I'll never go there again and felt I should share. Who knows what I've paid for and not actually had completed by this place!

up will make it more effective:…read more I ordered four wheel bearings from Detroit Axle, but the parts never arrived within the promised timeframe. I returned the order and was told multiple times that my refund would be deposited into my account within 5-7 days. It has now been well beyond that timeframe, and I still have not received my refund. When I contact customer service, I get conflicting information--either that the refund is on the way or that I can only receive store credit. The communication has been poor and inconsistent. I was originally told I was eligible for a refund, but the issue remains unresolved. Very disappointing experience. Rating suggestion: 1 star if the refund still hasn't been received.

Detroit Axle said I needed to pay a "shop" to diagnose the parts before they will consider any replacement. I'm a master certified tech, have a degree as a High Performance Automotive Technician from the University of Northwestern Ohio, #1 school in the nation. 25 years experience, Mazda Master and ASE. Ordered Front wheel hubs for a BMW, wrong threads in the wheel side flange. Sent them back and they declined the return saying the parts were not in re-sale condition. Well yeah because they were installed then un-installed, they only sell one part for this car not multiple options and they do not list the undersized 12mm stud holes which should be 14mm. The knuckle side mounting dimensions were correct. Bad company, even worse customer service.

Where this place loses the other 2 stars at is the clientele. Yes, I realize that includes me but bear with me here. Oh my God, where do I start? I had to visit this store about three times this past weekend and each and every time, there was an absolute moron in front of me. If it wasn't the guy loudly dropping the f-bomb while "speaking" on his Nextel phone, it was the two young dudes trying to hit on the girl behind the counter (guys, she is being paid to be nice to you. Keep that in mind) or the other old dude yelling at his daughter(?) and the poor guy behind the counter because they came totally unprepared with what fluid type they needed. Yes, the counter boy should absolutely know what kind of transmission fluid you need you dope. /eyeroll So, weigh the benefits of a good, well-stocked store with decent help vs. horrible customers who will most assuredly make your trip 10 minutes longer than it should be.

Even when it's busy, they keep things moving and are helpful if you need something. Overall, it's a reliable location with a smooth, no-hassle experience every time. Also bought one of those smartphone carriers you can put in your car there. Also, of historical significance, this AutoZone is right next to an old McDonald's in 1982 at 12857 Woodward where Vincent Chin was murdered or beaten to death with a baseball bat. That whole street (a major thoroughfare in Detroit) has many locations/sites significant to Vincent Chin, so I feel that shuttered building / McDonalds should be turned into some historic museum or community center. Same thing with the Hiland Theater a few blocks down at 13843 Woodward, former site of the Fancy Pants Strip Club (where the fight between Vincent, Ron Ebens & Michael Nitz started on the night of June 19, 1982). Definitely recommend this AutoZone however!

They do not have scarred knuckles or dirty finger nails and they most certainly do not know the difference between a limited slip differential and a Knutson valve. The rare business run by competent professionals who have seen everything, turned many a wrench in anger and know exactly how to fix the rotted kickdown mechanism on your beaten-up clunkbucket. This is Hastings. Walking in, the store is large and open with a the right mix of tools, fluids, consumables and floor stock to get easier jobs done, no barrage of frou-frou garbage to shine your car tires, no tweety-bird floor mats, no bullet-hole decals. As you walk to the prominent service counter you notice a comforting odor of WD40 and engine oil, think of it as a sign. These guys get straight to the point, provide insight and help on questions you have, often everything you need in stock by a quality brand and at competitive pricing. What sends this place over the top is in the back though. There you'll find one of the most competent and speedy machine shops you'll ever have need of. Swap out some bushings? Ten minutes. New wheel bearings pressed in? Overnight. The machine shop alone is reason enough to frequent Hastings.
