I am a long time customer of Discount Tire for multiple vehicles. Discount Tire in Lathrup Village is the truth! Their hazard insurance/certificate is a great value with pothole season upon us. My dashboard was continuously indicating one tire was experiencing low pressure even after adding air a couple times and another tire had a visible bulge on it. The Discount Tire team work on a rotation at the service counter. On my recent visit, I had the pleasure of getting the Service Assistant Manager, Tyler Baur. He indicated the bulge was most likely caused by hitting a pothole and the bulge was the indication of what was happening inside the tire. He got my other tire looked at and they determined there was a small piece of metal causing a slow leak that they were able to remove. My hazard certificate took care of replacing the other tire with the bulge. So, I received a $180 tire replacement plus a repair of the other for me to be out the door for less than $34. I called them three times in middle of a work day and nobody picked up. Finally on the fourth try after 2 minutes of ringing someone picked up only to put me on hold again. It's now over ten minutes of trying to reach them and I'm on hold as I write this. Get a VA or answering service. You're losing business from frustrated customers like me. I've bought at least 4 sets of tires here but the service has gotten worse and worse over the years. I originally came here for tires in the winter but the lines were insane so I waited til May when I figure they'll be slow but it doesn't seem to help. read more

Took my car here for two rear tires (to match the other 2 on my car). Within a mile of picking up my car both my tire pressure light and my brake pad warning light came on. Took it to my mechanic- he confirmed the brakes were fine and since I JUST had tires replaced the sensor was likely damaged on the install. I went back to the store as instructed when I called. They took a look at my car and said they can not fix it but claims will be calling me. I assumed they accepted fault since the timeline was clear what happened. I got a call from the 3rd party clam department today and Jim from the store is disputing my claim. Not only do I have to find the time to get this fixed- I will have to fight to get reimbursed if I do at all. I shopped online, they have a very easy way to shop and book an appointment, including the ability to verify correct tires based on the vehicle plate number. The tire options are also clearly labeled for wear ratings and for different driving conditions. I arrived for my appointment and the building is new and in good repair. They were very busy and the counter guy told me they were full with appointments and they had someone call in sick, so it would be 1 to 1-1/2 hours. It was 1-1/2 hours. They offered cold bottled water. They were friendly, polite, gave feedback on the car and other tires. Some of the other customers were less understanding at the wait and began acting out, raising their voices and trashing the restroom. read more

Have dealt with Discount Tire for years. First time at this location as I was towed in with a flat. Even though they were busy, they were able to squeeze me in. Waiting room was clean. employees were knowledgeable and courteous. Replaced damaged tire for a decent dollar. Rotated and balanced all of the tires for no charge. read more

You had one job... After a 75 minute wait with a booked appointment, my winter rims were installed so tight it just TOOK A 3-1/2' BREAKER BAR to remove them to put my summer wheels on at home. Luckily I didn't have any flats in the meantime, leaving me stranded by the side of the road, unable to put my spare on. Apparently the Discount Tire employee thinks it's perfectly ok to use the same impact gun, jacked up to 500 ft-lbs to break any wheel loose without hesitation, to overtighten wheels. Kevin set me up with a new set of Continental NON RUN FLAT tires that are extra beefy handle our roads up here. Visited this store yesterday morning and was told my tires would be in later in the day. At 3pm I was told they were still not in. I told the the person on the phone to call me when they were or if they weren't making it in. I called back today and was told that they were in but was told it was going to take 2 hours to get me in. After talking to several other customers in the store they shared similar experiences. Save yourself time and go to a different location. Made a appt to get my tire inspected as it keeps losing air every few days. All they told me is "tire is no good" and tried to get me to buy a tire, explained nothing. I asked and they said it was inner wall damage from driving on it flat which I've never done. Anyways just left and went to the Novi location as a walk-in and they checked out my tire and showed me the nail that was in it and fixed it. Took less time plus they were able to find the simple nail causing it lose air. No need to buy a new tire for that. read more

Usually Cust service is ok but the Managers were gone and ALI decided to get smart with me. Yes I'm a female but I know my car. I asked him to look up the last time I was there and was it for a valve stem on the same tire? He refused and gave some flip answer. My car has to have a SPECIFIC valve stem to sync with the sensors in my tire. Valve stems aren't going bad within a few weeks so I have to PAY FOR NEW RIMS!!! If you EVER have ALI LADIES, ASK FOR SOMEONE ELSE!!! DO BETTER WITH YOUR CUST SERVICE SIR!!! Update: Manager Chris took care of me! The light came on in my car yesterday, saying one of my tires air pressure was low. I went to fill the tire and while I was waiting for it to fill up, I noticed the sidewall had some pretty serious damage, a gouge peeling back almost to the tube. Without an appointment, I drove to Discount Tire. The waiting room was packed, but the service advisors spent the time needed with each customer and coordinated the delivery of the vehicles to be as efficient as possible. I'm a little tight on cash right now, but they weren't too pushy about replacing both rear tires. I waited about an hour and a half, but I've definitely waited longer at the dealership when I did have an appointment. read more

Discount Tire of Lathrup Village followed-up with me when I shared that I wasn't crazy about tires I purchased from them some time ago. The manager said he would try to come up with a solution to make sure I was happy... and he absolutely did! Within a day, I was back on the road; loving the performance of my new tires. Customer Service is horrible. I walked in at noon because they don't take appointments and waited until 3:00pm just to get checked in...then I was told they would call me when it was done in a hour. I was still waiting for a call at 6:00pm. I called twice to see if my car was ready, no answer. I came up here, my car was sitting with a flat tire. I didn't even have a flat when I dropped it off! Stopped by for an air refill for my tires and ended up walking out with all brand new tires. The guys that are working this location, WORK! This place is busy all the time. Don't let the line of people or the constant phones ringing deter you from coming here. Discount Tire offers great prices on tires, quick service, and most important - great staff. The Store Manager Darius helped me out and he was great. Awesome personality, very kind and calm... especially for it being so busy in there. I walked-in, waited in line for 5 minutes, spoke to the Manager who kindly walked me through the entire process from walking to my car, inspecting my current tires, and then offering me options based on my driving habits. He communicated clearly on how much it would cost, and told me upfront how long it would take. After I paid and gave him my phone number, I received a text message with a link as to what was happening to my car in real time. From the mechanics taking my car into the garage to working on it and then lastly, when it was ready. I was notified the entire process - loved it!! Didn't take long at all, given the fact the store was jam packed. Overall, I recommend checking this place out if your in need of a set of new tires. He was not friendly, didn't seem to care about my situation, and was primarily focused on selling me a new tire, which was unnecessary. I have new tires and only needed air in my tire. Purchased new tires, $330 per tire, rated for 80k miles, bought insurance just to be safe. Rotated the tires at 6k, no issues. Come back at 14k miles and we're told we will need new tires at the next rotation because they're so worn. Tires are a year old. When we said great, the tires are insured if you want to give us new ones, suddenly we didn't need new tires. Then we're told our lug nuts are swollen and needed to be replaced for $100. We went out and looked. The lug nuts are fine. No sign of swelling. We're leaving and taking the car to our personal mechanic for a second opinion. We used to trust Discount Tire. At this location, merely jump in line before 5:00 pm (enter from Sunnybrook Ave.) There is usually a little wait, but the techs are super efficient. They are also friendly, will ask questions about your tire needs and provide tips for optimal performance. They also offer some tire repair free of charge. I waited over 3 hours at this location just to have a nail removed from my tire. The worker who was putting the air in my tire discovered the nail and told me to park and they will remove the nail. They took my keys while I waited. I went to the desk more than once to ask how much longer and was told that they would get to my car. Although. I was considered a walking w/o an appointment, I should not have had to wait for what was eventually only 15-20 minutes to remove the nail. After going to the desk more than once, the worker first said about 45 minutes and then going back up after an hour he said they would get to me in 15-20 minutes which was again turned into an hour. That worker waited on other customers and not once had sense enough to apologize for my long wait and acted like he didn't see me or even cared. As a walk-in 30 mins before closing at 6pm, there were several customers waiting for their cars in addition to more customers coming in for service. I had a tire with a large screw in it and I was written up and given an hour and half for the tire repair. I was questioning if I should stay or leave the car overnight but the nice guy, I wished I knew his name, assured me that he will get the tire repaired and I'll be on my way. The store did not close at 6pm for there were other customers awaiting their cars. My car was done around 7:15pm. I told the same guy that he has gone far above in customer service to provide services to customers that needed serious tire repairs in this cold weather. This shows that I'll be back for his customer service. I wasn't sure if he was the manager or just a worker ensuring that all customers are taken care of. He made sure that there were no cars on the lot before closing the shop. I'll return again if the same guy will be there. read more

So, Discount Tire offers free tire pressure checks and air. I took off work early today to get my tires checked and air added as my tire pressure is low. I arrive at Discount Tire at 2:21pm and am told there will be no more tire checks today with a chain across the waiting line. Needless to say, I was pissed. VERY inconvenient. Let me drive off with an unsafe vehicle! Had a tire blow out on 96 Tuesday, had AAA drop off my car at this location, after replacing the tire and letting my drive off my steering wheel was completely off center! Went to Midas only to find out my alignment was SOO off that the camera couldn't even measure it! Why in the world would a tire shop let a customer drive off with tires completely misaligned and now I need to spend $300 dollars to get this done properly. Don't bother going to this store they don't save you money or time. Please go to an actual mechanic that can actually let you know what's wrong. read more

This is the best tire shop in the area - they always have what I need on the same day, and it usually only takes an hour - 90 minutes to get a tire replaced. They're always very helpful on the phone and in person, and will explain why you need what you need. Customer service is excellent and the staff seem to have good working relationships - things run smoothly. read more

Discount tire, in my opinion, is the best. I have been coming to this location for my tire needs, for I want to say over 15 years. In my prior car, I replaced my tires, and then for my Nissan, I bought four tires in 2013. Apparently, I am an idiot. I have been told now by four people that you should rotate your tires every time you get an oil change. I am not sure if that is true, but I waited years to rotate and let a front-end alignment go longer than I should. So I walk out of my place on a Monday to go to work, and my tire is half flat. I make my way to a gas station to fill it up, and I realize I should probably replace it. But I don't really want to spend the money, so I didn't call to get new tires. The next day I go to leave to go to work, and it is half flat again. So it is time I call and talk to Juliano, and he seemed like a super nice guy and was very helpful and got me right in. He was accommodating and recommended what I needed. I do need to replace the front tires. They are not that bad. I was spending a lot of money when this came up, and I appreciated that he didn't go into high-pressure sales mode. I hate having remorse buying so my stance on this is if i am getting high pressured on something and I have to answer today then my answer will always be no. That is what i like about discount tire. Easy process of ordering the tires over phone. Price was significantly less than the dealership! When they were ready, only a couple of days, they called and set up an appointment to come in and have them installed. A REALLY polite young man named Darius greeted me and checked me in. Tires were installed within an hour and I picked up my car in front from ANOTHER really nice guy named Devin. It was a really hot Friday afternoon and these guys were just great!! Service matters, as does their low prices, and because of that I'm gonna get any future tires from them. read more

They really helped me out when I was in a bind. I noticed one of my tires kept going flat and I couldn't figure out the issue. One of the associates took the time to walk me through the corrosion issue and even went the extra step to remove some of it (which luckily fixed the issue). I've paid for every warrantee they offer and twice in a row have shown up and been refused service. I have two full sets of wheels and tires, one for snow and one all-weather. One set is warranteed here and one set I bought previously. The last time I came to have them switched out seasonally, they refused and I had to go to someone else. This time, I called ahead and explained the same reasons they refused last time, confirmed over and over that they would switch the wheels, showed up, and they refused again, so I'm stuck at a tire change place that refuses to change a tire. There was no new information upon my arrival, just that they refused once I showed up after insisting they would do it. I didn't get the same person I talked to over the phone in the shop and the person I got when I arrived wouldn't bother to check in with anyone to see who said they'd change the wheels, even though i was promised they would before driving here on a plug. Now, I have two flat tires on one side from hitting accident debris, and those two tires are under warrantees here, but I'm now waiting for a tow to the next closest tire shop who will actually switch my wheels out. Unbelievable. I will never spend money at Discount Tire again. read more

Brought my wife's car into the Southfield location about 2 months ago for a slow leak in one of the tires, which we purchased from DT along with warranty, as well as tire rotation. I watched the guy work on the car, but never saw him do anything but rotate the tires while clowning around with his buddies. When another technician brought me the car, and I asked about the leak, the technician told me that they couldn't find any leaks, so they rebuilt the valve-stem on the tire. Note: I watched them work and never saw anything done but tire rotation, but thought, perhaps, I just wasn't watching closely enough. Well, I took it over to the DT in Troy and they immediately found the leak and said that the problem was a rope-plug that was used to repair the same tire about a year ago at a mechanic shop. They then told me the tire was still under warranty and so they swapped it out for a BRAND NEW tire--as Southfield should have done in the first place. I've been a customer of DT for over 30 years and WILL NOT be returning to the Southfield location ever again. Go to the Troy or Warren location where they have honest technicians. read more
