I'll start by saying I'm not a regular customer at O'Reilly's. But, today I needed a new battery…read morefor a generator at my folk's house. The battery that had been in their unit was actually from Advance Auto, so I went there first. Advance not only didn't have on in stock, they didn't have one available within their online inventory. Basically, the Covid pandemic has interrupted their supply chain. Anyway, O'Reilly's is immediately next store, so I gave them a try. Initially, I got the same response (none on hand and none in the online inventory). But the young man working the counter asked where the battery was used. I told him about my folks needing it for their emergency generator. I mentioned that my mother requires oxygen and needs power for that system. The young man then went in the back and one by one carried 5 different batteries out to the counter for comparison. Ultimately, he found a perfectly suitable substitute that actually provides more cold cranking amps than the original. This was a example of exceptional customer service. I'm adding this store to my list of favorites. On a side note, their pricing is very similar to competition making customer service more important to earning and keeping customers.

Called Best Buy's Geek Squad to schedule an installation of stereo system twice. The first time I…read morewas sure that the person at the off-shore call center didn't understand what I wanted (lack of basic English language skills), so I hung up. The second time I called I repeated questioned the person to be sure they understood they were coming to install a stereo system and it's components and wire it to multiple rooms in the house. She gave me the price and then I was told that I was required to pay the total amount up front, which I reluctantly did. On the day of the install the technician, as young man by the name of "Agent White" called. One of the smoothest scammers I have ever had to deal with. After asking what it is that we needed he very clearly stated that the call center didn't ask enough questions and that the installation would not only not take place that day, but would cost over 3 times the quoted price! He fained remorse over the call center but repeatedly said that they had no control. I demanded to speak to his manager who I was told would call me back. I did receive an incoming call that promptly hung up upon answering and, when I called the call center they fained the ability to transfer the call directly to the store and I was told they would not even start processing a refund until the next day. I will here after NEVER shop at or step foot in any Best Buy stores or websites.

This experience from the South…read moreAsheville store off McKenna Rd., including the customer service from their supposed "Experience Manager," Ray Milton was by far the worst purchase experience I've ever had. I understand things happen, but they had plenty of chances to make things right. From purchase to final install it took over 2 months and 4 scheduled attempts. The first two scheduled attempts were no-show without any communication, and the third they dropped the TV and did $750 damage to my floor. Every failed attempt they put me in the back of the line, which meant minimum 2 week delay and certainly no weekend options. They had plenty of opportunities to show good customer service (proactive comm'n, priority, sympathy, compensation, etc.), but not once did they. I can't tell you what this cost me in rescheduling my work week, time sitting around waiting to show up, time on hold on the phone, time getting them to do something, time scheduling repairs, etc. Would have been nice if their Experience Manager actually cared enough to step in other than respond with "your order has been escalated" and a $300 credit. I am a loyal person and have purchased over $50k of items from Best Buy and this will be my last.

But not treating customers well when minor issues arise is the worst. let me tell my story. I brought my computer to them needed cleaned up and new malware software. When I picked it up they gave wrong cord, and searched and found my cord. When I started using the computer it was still flashing pop ups and was now timing out on searches. I called and left a message the first week, then again a week later, no return call. So I took it back to them, explained the above to the clerk, he said okay and tried to charge me for a new service. I stated that the first service was not done properly, and unreturned voicemails. He said his voicemail had been messing up and he would message the owner. we stood waiting for 15min, no one else in the store. Asked if he had heard, he said no, asked it he could take it in and charge me when i picked up he said no, asked how we could resolve this that we did not have the time to continue to wait, he said he would need to hear from the Elijah before he could take the computer. At that point I offered to pay and speak with owner when I picked up, he refused, stated I could not wait and he told me "that is a your problem". Called in later and got a voice message that they are not taking new clients. So thanks for being so wonderful to us 2 years ago. Sorry you are overwhelmed. I hope the people you choose to treat poorly during this season are not the ones you need to survive long term.
