If you can avoid going to this store, I would. I would recommend NAPA or Autozone, in that order. I had ordered some supplies which apparently got picked up by someone else. When I went to see about a refund I was given the run around and then told that the two items would be reordered. They weren't. When I went back to see what the issue was, both times they went in the back without saying a word and left me hanging. Very disappointing considering all of the business I have been giving them. Never thought I would leave a review for an auto parts store. But here I am. I needed a nut and bolt for a sway bar on my jeeps suspension. It was missing and I had no idea what to even ask for. The guy working there looked at my Jeep, determined what I needed, got it all for me with explaining what I needed and why. I know this is not typical help at any parts store. Not sure I will get service like this again at this store. But I am reporting my experience today. Not only did he get my parts but he grabbed some tools and installed it for me with out me asking. Last weekend, I was vacationing from San Diego in Paso Robles when my charging light indicator went on in the evening after all the repairs shops were closed. Not knowing anyone in town to help me, I call the O'Reilly Auto Parts on 150 Niblick in Paso Robles and spoke to Amir Sepahi and asked if I came by could he check my systems with his diagnostic machines and he said sure come by. He put the tests on all the charging components, at no charge and said the my alternator seemed to be the problem. Then he gave me the options of different solutions for replacing the parts. I selected to go with the new and not the rebuilt because of the warranty and availability of stores across California. Then I asked for a recommendation of who would be a respected and honest mechanic to install the new alternator. Amir said that Matt's Smog and Auto Care in Paso Robles is known for his great work, customer care and fairness. I took it to Matt's Smog and Auto care first thing in the morning and Matt got my alternator installed and I was back enjoying my vacation. Thanks Amir for your help and kindness and recommendation. I have been shopping here for years and the staff is always friendly and helpful! There are always willing to come out to my vehicle and investigate a problem. Jose the manager does an excellent job! Most stores do not pay much attention to the customers anymore, but this store offers a refreshing alternative. If they do not have an item in stock, they will order it for you. Great guys st this place. I asked to buy an ODB reader as I was on vacation and the check engine light came on. They offered to test it for me. The technician looked up the code on his phone and asked me if I had enough oil. The answer was No. I checked it and I was bone dry. Face plant epic fail. I added oil and told him I would get it checked out when I got home. Sure enough it was an oil leak. Thanks a bunch guys!! read more

My car battery died today. After the auto club sent Gil's Towing out to jump start my car I went straight to O'Reillys in San Luis Obispo. I bought a new battery and they installed it for free. Our family has always had great service here, but yesterday William, the Assistant Manager went above and beyond in Service. My battery had died at 5:00 at the carwash and they got me on my way, but at that time of the day I was not sure where to go. I stopped in and William was so helpful!!!! He offered to replace it for me (thank you! I don't know what I would have done!). THEN the battery was so difficult to get out (snow damage possibly from the East Coast), but William was patient and got the job done. I offered to get him food or a soda, but he declined and kept working. Thank you William--you made really bad timing for this to happen a lot better. We will always go with O'Reilly's. Thanks! O'Reilly Auto Parts is just okay. And that's really what three stars is all about a place that you will go and patrin eyes and use their product but that you're not necessarily ecstatic about. They have just about anything you need for your car or they can certainly order it for you. The customer service is barely acceptable however that's basically what I have come accustomed to here in California when you go to any establishment that is not going to get a tip. At all O'Reilly and or any other auto parts store I have come accustomed to getting bare minimum service and waiting for an incredible amount of time to get to the counter and try to describe the problem that I'm having to someone who really doesn't care. Then once we figure out what I do need waiting through the attitude that they're giving me I pay a reasonable price for a just barely reasonable product. But yeah I'll come back even though you can tell that they cater to the shade tree mechanic because people will walk right up to the counter and slip out names and numbers of what they want and get served immediately and I'll be tossed to the back of the line wait there you man who knows not what you want. Yeah I'll use them again what the hell I have a sense of humor. read more
