I am not one to post negative reviews, however this experience warrants it. I will add that I e-mailed the charter in an effort to address our experience and they have opted to not respond so I am happy to share our negative experience publicly. Funny how they respond quickly when you are booking a trip, but fail to respond if there is an issue to be addressed post trip. Our trip was scheduled to depart at 7am, however the boat was not prepared for departure and we did not get under way until 7:52am. Our Captain (Jeff) did not have the boat fueled, he did not have ice, nor bait ready for our trip. While "fueling" the boat, he managed to fill the fresh water tank reservoir with gasoline, requiring the marina to subsequently pump the gasoline out before we could depart. Obviously this did not instill confidence as to the captains boating capabilities or familiarity with the boat. Since we opted to place our personal possessions into the china toilet cabinet, all of our personal belongings ended up reeking of fuel vapors. After preparing the boat for our "fishing" trip, Jeff had to make yet an additional detour to obtain ice and bait for the trip. I will add he only obtained 20 bait fish for the entire trip. Knowing the complexity of the ocean and the likelihood that one will go through a lot of bait while trying to catch fish, why would you only get 20 baitfish and then put several of the baitfish on the hook in whole instead of preparing cut bait??? Being an avid fisherman, it is important to match bait size to hook size. If the fish are stealing the bait, put smaller pieces of the bait on the circle hooks so they can't just rip it off and they have to actually take the bait....or switch to J hooks. Now that we have finally spent an hour and a half of our morning anxiously awaiting for Jeff to have the boat ready for the fishing trip, we finally get under way. After getting to our first fishing spot, Jeff informed us we would be using three rods for our four person fishing trip until he got us on some fish.....which never happened. Since the captain invested in cheap fishing gear, there was an issue with one of the reels while attempting to land a fish and we only "fished" with three rods for the remainder of the trip. Should have been more prepared for this I would think. Without exaggeration, we literally had our lines wet and in the water for less than 30 minutes for the entire five hour "fishing" trip. In full disclosure, there were dolphins following the boat and made fishing a bit more difficult. Jeff would put us on a spot and we would drop our lines a couple times and we would again move to a new location which could take an extensive amount of time. We literally fished 4 spots the entire trip and I am not exaggerating when I say we only had our lines in the water for 30 minutes total. This is unacceptable! I hope anyone who takes the time to read our review will not have the same negative experience we did. Since we reside in Texas, we based our decision to use this charter after reading the posted reviews. We now realize our experience did not mimic that of others. You would think the charter would want to address our experience, but it seems they got their money and they are moving on to the next. I wish future customers the best!

Nick took us to multiple spots and handled everything. Provided ice for beer, instructions for rookies, help landing the fish, and plenty of photo opportunities! For reference, the youngest kids on the boat seemed to be around eight or nine and didn't seem to have a problem fishing with a little help from their parents. Someone else on Yelp recommended bringing a rag to wipe their hands. This was clutch. I'd also recommend bringing some wet wipes. He was extremely professional, and his directions to get there, where to park, and how to get on the boat were so accurate and idiot proof for someone that is a little directionally challenged like me ! He was on time, and ready to go even 15 minutes prior to take off when we showed up. His boat was SQUEAKY clean. When we showed up, he had ice in his cooler already to go for us to put our drinks/lunch in. His safety briefing was through, hilarious at all the right times, and made us feel like we were in great hands. He had a small bathroom under the deck (which was very clean!) and he gave us directions on how to use it. When the fishing started. He was ready with dead bait, but had us fish for live bait for an even better time. We caught so much bait at the direction of Captain Matt, that we didn't even have to stop and buy any! He was very informative of where to sit on the boat if you didn't want to feel the waves as much. When the fishing started, he knew exactly where to go like he had Poseidon powers!! The moment we dropped the lines with the bait that he loaded up on our hooks, we started pulling up fish. At each spot, we were pulling up fish left and right! When we caught a shark, Captain Matt encouraged and coached us all the way through until the shark pulled off. He even gave all of us a chance to have a turn! Even though he was a one man show, there wasn't 3 minutes where we didn't go without bait on our hooks. He was working hard making sure we were all accommodated and equipt with everything needed to pull in some great fish! We caught way more fish than we kept, but we kept 7 red snapper, 2 mangrove snappers, and one fairly hefty (delicious) grouper. We hooked on a few larger fish as well, but the tax collector came along and took his share When we got back, we took pictures of the catch that he presented for us on the dock. After the obligatory fisherman photos, Captain Matt filleted all the fish beautifully for us, put it in ziplocks on ice. We then took it to Harbor Dock per one of his dock neighbors recommendation and they cooked it for us for $14 a plate including sides! I haven't stopped thinking about how great fish tasted that you caught less than two hours before being presented on a plate to you. Try to bring a few boxes of the gallon Ziplock brand baggies! He will happily use them for you and other customers to sort the different fillets and separate ones that you want to take up to Harbor Dock to get cooked. I couldn't imagine going on another boat trip and even comparing to how great the trip was with Captain Matt. If you're considering the party boat, don't. If you don't go with a Captain Matt with Destin Go Fishing, you really missed out on the best guided deep sea fishing trip of your life. HIGHLY RECOMMEND DESTIN GO FISHING!!!

He even radioed a friend and got us to see a dolphin! He was incredibly accommodating to us on the boat and made us feel right at home. He had all the right connections too and was able to get us food and fun things like coconuts drinks. He was very nice, upbeat and relaxed personality while still giving you confidence that he had everything under control. After going to crab island I can see that booking with a captain like Robbie verses renting a boat on our own was 100% the way to go.
