Our 3rd option of the day as our first and second were too crowded but will be a 1st option next time.. Great customer service nice clean establishment and the food was D LISH US!!! My wife and I both got the ox tail plate mine with cabbage and Mac, hers with red beans & rice and fried okra. as you can see the ox tails were fall-off-the-bone tender and perfectly seasoned. The Mac is in my top 5 almost ordered a to-go side.. okra was fried to perfection and the cornbread is divine.. not too sweetand not to bland.. will definitely return.

Where do I start. This place was actually a third choice of ours and im so glad the other ones didn't fall through because when I say this food is nothing less than AMAZING it really is. Upon arrival we were greeted and asked if this was our first time here and we did advise the young lady it was. She informed us that there were two separate boards hanging above one with appetizers, drinks, desserts and the other with the main courses oh yea they have daily specials thats on the chalkboard upon entrance as well. The Mr. And I opted for the oxtails, he got cabbage, mac and cheese, and I got the red beans and rice with okra. You pay and then sit down. They will bring you your food. We waited for about 20 mins (worth every minute) the food comes in Styrofoam containers(only con) with plastic silverware. The food was seasoned so well, it was nice good and hot and the portion size is good. Do yourself a favor and visit them we will definitely be taking that 35 minute drive to come back. Oh and the music they were planning was icing on the cake...

I enjoyed all the food I ordered. It was fresh, well seasoned and nice portions. The prices are very reasonable. I didn't think much of the cornbread, but it came with the meal, so that was nice. I don't live close by, but I will come back! I haven't eaten my dessert, so I will make another review once I get the peach cobbler. I also got a couple sides to take home!

I ordered the (1) tasty trio, (2) catfish Atchafalaya and (3) fried catfish. The soul roll in the trio was ok -- the Mac n cheese was very dry and bland. The trio came with a grayish-green looking gravy dipping sauce that was not very good at all... it tasted almost like a thick gumbo roux with very little seasoning. The catfish Atchafalaya was supposed to come with étouffée on it, but the sauce I receive wasn't étouffée at all, it was that same grayish-green gravy on top of the fish -- not very good at all, I would not recommend it. The fried catfish by itself was ok, pretty standard fried fish. The mash potatoes, again, came with that same gravy sauce. Strangely, some parts of my food like the gravy and cornbread, tasted old. The service I received from the young lady that helped me was very good. She was sweet and helped me select the items on the menu as this was my first time visiting. There was another lady (who I believe is the cook) who was not very friendly at all -- she didn't smile, speak or give a welcoming vibe. Ii assume this is a Black-owned business so I was glad to support, but I will not be returning.

I got the oxtail plate with a side of cabbage and mac n cheese. Let me just say, everything was seasoned and balanced in flavor perfectly. 10 out of 10 would recommend! Angelica was super friendly and inviting when I went to pick up my order. She recommended mixing my drink half watermelon and half mango flavor and it was sooo freakin delicious! This restaurant is a family owned business too so you know they're putting their heart and soul into it. If you're looking for some great comfort food and hospitality this is definitely the place to go.

I decided to try YELP today for somewhere quick to eat near my job. I came across this little gym. Based on the reviews I decided to check it out and I'm so glad that I did. As soon as I walked in the door, I was warmly greeted by the young lady behind the counter. She welcome me and suggested some of their top selling dishes. She then offered this a amazing peach and mango Kool-Aid that will bless your socks off. Due to my time constraint so I decided to go with the burger and I was so full because it was so good. Y'all, this burger is served on hot buttery Texas toast with seasoned fries and has a sauce that made my soul happy. The service was fast. The food was hot and fresh. The only suggestion that I might have going forward with that my burger was cooked a little well, but it was so amazing. I tore it up!!! You owe it to yourself to check them out. I'm looking forward to going back again.

This cajun/soul food restaurant restaurant has been opened for about 6 weeks now and is located in a very large strip center on the Hwy. 290 frontage road with plenty of parking available in front. Inside, it's a counter service eatery with a nice upscale decor and vibe going with old handwritten recipes displayed on the walls and enjoyable music playing in the background. It has daily lunch specials and serves brunch on the weekend. My first visit was for soulful food and I ordered the smothered pork chops with side dishes of mashed potatoes and fried okra for $17. I added to that their mango peach ice tea and they also offer bottled Pepsi soft drinks. The food was ready in about 10 minutes and served in a styrofoam container with plastic utensils. The chops (2) were covered with gravy and onions on a bed of rice and more of the same gravy and with the sides represented a lot of food. I could see I wasn't going home hungry! The chops were big and tasty along with both sides. It was a good meal but honestly I wasn't a fan of the light brown gravy. To me, taste wise it lacked and I wanted to like it. Perhaps it's just me and you will differ. Also that peach mango tea was too sweet for my taste and had a thicker consistency than regular brewed tea that I didn't like. I gave this meal a 3 score all things considered Including the drink. My next visit was to try the shrimp sandwich with seasoned fries for $14. This time they had brewed unsweetened ice tea thank goodness. About 10 minutes later the food arrived. The sandwich sat on square toasted sandwich bread with 7-8 large fried shrimp along with the lettuce, tomato, pickles and a tasty sauce. I was impressed with the size and taste of this sandwich. It was very good and had plenty of shrimp to eat. I would call it a massive sandwich. Also the seasoned fries were very good to eat too. When I think of a shrimp sandwich, I will probably be thinking of this one (5). The staff here is friendly and I will return.

We ordered the following: - Mama Pauly's Meatballs - Buttermilk Popcorn Chicken Bites - White Truffle Devil Eggs - Single Cheeseburger Separate from the Happy Hour Menu: - KP's Wicked Wings (BBQ Flavor) - Crispy Sweet n/ Sour Shrimp Out of everything we ordered from the happy hour menu, I would personally recommend the meatballs, truffle devil eggs, and cheeseburger. The meatballs and tomato sauce were both solid and I loved the toasted bread on the side. As for the truffle deviled eggs, that's something you don't see often on the menu! The truffle flavor/aroma was solid and the fresh chips on top were nice. The cheeseburger was pretty good and I enjoyed all the veggies that came with! Aside from that, the restaurant had a neat interior/decorations and good service!

Service was amazing-- we loved our waiter who was a combination of polite, funny, and knowledgeable, and everyone gave us a smile. All the dishes were beautifully presented and flavorful but definitely on the heavier side. - Beet salad (5/5)-- wow, never had a beet salad like this one before! So much flavor with a tanginess from vinegar sweetened by the blueberries and beets. The beets didn't taste very earthy (aka like dirt) compared to most beet salad. This was really well executed :) - Caesar salad (3.5/5)-- Credence's spin on Caesar, which according to my Caesar salad pro diner, didn't really taste like Caesar salad. Also very tangy and tart but the pro still enjoyed it as a salad dish. - Roasted cabbage (4/5)-- big fan of the way they roasted this, perfect tenderness without being cabbage mush! Definitely a heavy dish, especially for a vegetable option, as it was swimming in a butter cream sauce that started to congeal as it cooled off. Would choose this more as an indulgent appetizer rather than a healthy veggie option. I wonder if one could ask for the sauce on the side... - Tuna tostada (3.5/5)-- if you like strong flavors, this one packs a punch. The gochujang aioli beneath the tuna is really concentrated, making it difficult to taste the actual tuna. There's a bit of heat but thankfully I wouldn't say it was spicy. Fun to try. The tostada itself was very dense and almost a bit bread-y versus a crispy chip texture. - Crab fried rice (4/5)-- comes with lobster foam that is mixed table side and a generous amount of crabmeat lumps. The rice actually had a nice texture without being too... grainy / individualized, but it was too salty for me. - Akaushi Wagyu beef (4.5/5)-- loved the texture which was tender but with some chew (was expecting more of a melt-in-the-mouth texture though) and the veggies that it came with. It was heavily salted, too much so for me. Would've been perfect with less salt since there's already a chimichurri sauce with it. - Peanut butter tart (4.5/5)-- peanut butter lovers rejoice! The chocolate filling was rich, thick, and sweet which was complemented nicely with the whipped cream (not sweet at all). The peanut flavor really shined. The crust didn't have much of a taste by itself and was sandy in texture, not sure if on purpose or over-baked and dried out. Either way, the tart looked impressive when it arrived and was delectable-- my favorite bite of the night! Overall a nice experience! Although there was a mess up and the rest of our two salads and crab rice wasn't packed with our other food to take home; I was pretty sad about that since it was quite a bit of food (and $$). I might return for that peanut butter tart, but everything else was too heavy and too salty for me. I'm personally not a huge butter fan, but if you are, definitely make a reservation for a special occasion or date!

They have a 2 for $20 meal that includes a starter of choice and an entree. First off, the portion sizes are huge. I ended up taking half my food to go- and it tasted juat as good this evening for dinner! It came out quickly and the customer service was spectacular. They even flagged us down when we were about to leave because I left my jacket at the table. During our dining, we were checked on regulary by our server D'Anna. She was patient with us deciding on our choices for our orders and willing to give us guidance on entrees. We never had an almost empty water glass, and magically, even sitting outside on the covered patio, we did not have to fight with flies to keep them away from our food, but I wouldn't blame the flies one bit if they tried because Millie's has some amazing dishes. First off the fish dip is electrifying. Reminds me of seafood salad, but not as chunky. Delicious!!! A must try. I ordered the wedge salad for my 2 for $20 meal. It didn't come out with my other counterparts' apps because they were making the blue cheese dressing from scratch- SCRATCH! And boy was it amazing when it did come out! Fresh and refreshing. Once more, my philly was loaded with toppings! A little spicy than expected but not to the point that my tongue was burning. The beef tallow fries were also a pleasant compliment to my philly. Not salty at all and thick cut just how I like them so I can taste the potato. It was not only a great meal but exceptional setting to have a dining experience. I can see why this place is popular! Will be back for sure Millie's.

There are several types of seating available. They have a large patio - one section covered, one section open. They also have bar seating inside, regular chairs/table seating, and chair with a half booth seating. We were welcome by many of the staff immediately when we entered. Very welcoming. They have sweet tea! I love sweet tea. :) My Friend had a Bloody Mary. They had a $5 special for drinks. We split the Buffalo shrimp and the Gulf Wedge salad. The Buffalo shrimp (8 to an order) came with celery and ranch for dipping. They were just like I remembered years ago from the Richmond location. I'm not usually a Buffalo sauce type person, but their shrimp with their sauce is the bomb! The shrimp are large, so the entree is great for splitting. The Gulf Wedge has crab meat, bacon, grape tomatoes, and a hardboiled egg. It also comes with red onion and blue cheese crumbs, but I do not like either of those, so I had those removed from my half. I also prefer ranch dressing instead of blue cheese dressing. The salad was a great addition to our shrimp. Very tasty and filling. Nick was happy to make the substitutions for me. Many restaurants have an issue with splitting dishes. I was happy RC, via Nick, did this for us. For these reasons, Nick made out with a 25% tip. The restaurant sits on Wirt, just South of Long Point, and has its own private parking lot behind a gated perimeter. There is plenty of seating. They have tons of covered outdoor tables, indoor tables, booths, and bar top options. I also noticed there's a little turfed area for kids to play on the side of the restaurant, and the outdoor seating appears to be kid friendly, so bring the whole household. (minus the cat I guess) We came on a Friday and decided to split the Boiled Seafood Friday Special. We got a lobster tail, 2 blue crabs, 1 snow crab cluster, 1/2 lb. boiled shrimp, corn, 2 potatoes, and lemon garlic butter sauce for dipping all for $40. There was plenty of food to split between two people and everything came out great. I'm sure I'll be back to try out the menu staples, but that Friday special was a nice surprise! Service was very on top of our table. Our waiter came by constantly to make sure we have what we needed, helped with questions, and never let a water glass or a beer get too low. Overall, it was a great first visit to an old Houston favorite, and I'm sure we'll find ourselves back again soon enough.
