The inventory felt a bit light, and the overall vibe from the staff--mostly a younger crew--wasn't particularly welcoming or engaging. ​When I found an item, I asked if there was any room for flexibility on the price, but they wouldn't budge. While I understand businesses have policies, thrift shopping usually comes with a bit of wiggle room, especially when you're looking to build customer loyalty and encourage people to spend more. ​Because they firm-lined the pricing and the selection was limited, we ended up walking out without buying anything. If you want to find the best 2nd hand store around, come to O'Thrifts! I have been coming here for years and O-Thrifts has the best used furniture, household items, tools, clothes, music, holiday decorations, and more at the best prices! When I come to Auburn, I like to make special stops here... especially because I love my kitchen items! I recently bought a place and remembered the quality of the items they sell. I got a full size mattress with a queen frame that they were able to make into a full for me. The mattresses I received was brand new and it was only $150 for both the frame and mattress. I have also recently bought a coffee table, kitchen table and coffee table (and dishes!). Donations are welcomed around back from the time they open until the time they close. I feel like everything here is more than reasonably priced. It's actually hard for me to ever walk out without buying something. O'Thrifts has really made my home cozier in a pinch. If you buy big items and need them delivered, O'Thrifts delivers locally for free and anything past Auburn for a small price (don't forget to tip!). The selection was abundant, they said they could deliver the large table and four large chairs , since I lived within 15 miles of the store . But they never said WHEN. After calling the store many times they could never give me a window of time when the furniture would be delivered . I guess the owner is not reliable and the staff cannot guarantee a time when he could make the delivery. Tired of the confusion , an out of town friend went out of his way to pick up the furniture in his own pickup. I'll never buy anything too large to fit in my Honda Fit from O'Thrifts from now on . Wish I could put Zero Stars. Worst service I have ever had in my life. Owner Bill Is extremely rude and has no manors whatsoever. had us waiting in the store for 2 hours literally to ask him a 10 second question about purchasing something he got donated. When we got to asking the question it was "what do you guys want" and never introduced himself After waiting all those hours. he turned us down asking a simple question about speakers we were going to buy. It used to be a very customer friendly establishment full of good bargains. The staff was welcoming and very friendly. You could always get a discount and an advice. I bought many things there. So did my sister. Unfortunately the atmosphere and the service changed drastically. You do not feel welcome and the staff we met was quite short with us. Very different from the last year. When one catches sight of Ladies Who Lunch that pretty much speaks volumes about a place. Again, this is a hunt so you'll find a great mix of things appealing to every price point. (I found them because I needed a rope and found the perfect one for $5.00). The beauty here is that mix makes your BougieBuys even more fun. Crystal - one of the incredibly nice and knowledgable individuals there - has a terrific eye for a wide variety of items including China, clothing and unexpected surprise finds as well. Prices are very competitive and in many cases - such as the sideboard - a definite deal. So much so that if I were the manager of Goodwill, I'd be a tad nervous. (Whoever does the pricing at Goodwill must be back on the pipe or something because it's almost a farce at times pricing wise and they lost most of their Stager Sally clientele.) Your mission is to remain Bougie. Unlikely you'll attain this unless you spend smart. O'Thrifts is smart. Their visibility from the road is less than ideal; the building just sort of blands away into blandness. Don't let that fool you...this place is an up and coming star in a plain brown wrapper you'll be glad to have found. I'm certain Ms. Pencil Skirt is after finding a perfect accent piece for $10.00 that she flipped into $225 that now resides in Dark Horse under subtle 1% illumination. This store is very clean and organized, not to mention friendly staff. Bill & Crystal, aside from having such a unique second- hand store, are the nicest couple I've met in a long time. I met Bill while downsizing my residence due to divorce. I had so many extra pieces of furniture, Bill came out and removed them for me. The second time I thinned out my furniture I couldn't believe there was more but Bill again graciously helped me out. I also adore his wife Crystal. She is such a kick in the pants and she is so sweet. She has a great Christmas display. Additionally, there is additional knowledgeable help in the store. I'm only gave 4 stars because I found a beautiful piece of glassware that wasn't priced so they said they would find out the price and get back to me - I left all my contact info and they put a tag on it. Buyer beware! My spouse has Alzheimer's and I've a heart condition. I was so excited xcited to buy a couch and loveseat from owner Bill who assured me couch in great shape just a few scratches. We don't have car so by paying him additional he delivered. When he left we sat down and couldn't get up. The couch was broken and the loveseat so bad my husband fell twice( 911 had to come). I left a bag for Bill telling him I did Not expect my money back and would pay him more to come and get couches downstairs. He left me nasty reply that I'd accused him of thief and would not help me and to never contact him again. So..for first time in my life I'm leaving a review. I feel he was dishonest now. Lady at the front was VERY rude. Very inflexible about the rules... for the BATHROOM!! My husband had an emergency and really needed to go and she kept repeating "we don't have a public bathroom, we don't have a public bathroom...etc!! I said so, what do you all do when you have to go and she repeated "we don't have a public bathroom".... yeah, I heard you, but this is urgent!! We had to leave. Fortunately, there was a 76 Gas station about two doors up which she could have mentioned... when I called to complain, she told me to "look up the rules" about places having public bathrooms - what about common courtesy though - we are an elderly couple and have donated hundreds of dollars to your "for profit" organization... Terrible store and rude employees. Asked the clerk to hold onto a large painting while I shopped as I didn't want to lug a big painting around, and he sold it to someone else as I was shopping. I brought it up to the clerk before he finished ringing it up and he still gave it to the customer who came later because he knew her. Very very unprofessional. Amazing service. Today O'Thrifts came to the aid of an Auburn senior. Due to declining health, she had to vacate her apartment, leaving her furniture behind. To avoid further rent, her apartment needed to be emptied immediately. The staff at O'Thrifty was able to pick up all of her furniture and add the pieces to their growing inventory. They were courteous and efficient. I cannot recommend this new shrift store more highly! read more
