I had a negative experience at this gym because of one trainer's attitude. Erin came across as condescending and acted as if she owned the place, which made the environment feel uncomfortable and unwelcoming. I don't expect everyone to be overly friendly, but I do expect basic professionalism and respect, especially from staff or trainers working around members. The gym itself may be fine, and other people there may be great, but this interaction left a bad impression. I would be hesitant to recommend the gym unless management does a better job making sure trainers treat members with respect. read more

Seems nicer than the Carrboro location but it's just bigger. I do like the mind/body room having its own quiet ambiance as I went for the yoga class with Benjamin on a Monday. I enjoyed the class although at some points he didn't really explain some stances so I'd have to take a min to see what he was doing to replicate it. I'm sure over time I'll get used to the different pose names. There were cubby's for shoes and belongings which looks so professional. Really appreciate the thought in that, the room itself was a bit small but thankfully the class was too although completely full. So get there early for a space. It also gets pretty warm since it's a small space! Overall I'll be back to check out other aspects of the gym. So far the $60+ a month seems to be still quite pricey for what you get. read more

For a "Signature Club" there's no signature experience. Just "Signature Prices" This O2 location is incredibly close to my home and office so I make a lot of mental concessions for the diminishing quality at this club on a weekly basis. I've been going here since they shuttered the Chapel Hill location and opened up this location. Once again it's become noticeable what issues this O2 location has. The "Signature Club" experience gets you: Machines that are broken for months at a time. Bathroom stalls/urinals that are broken. Busted sinks in the bathroomGross mildewed carpet in the gym locker rooms. Busted lockers . Bathrooms covered in urine (probably just a men's room issue tbh). Rude club members that are either loudly taking phone calls on machines or blasting their own music without regard for other guests and get aggressive when you ask them to use headphones. staff does not give AF about this etiquette when you tell them too. You get this ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Club members on their phones scrolling away / listening to voicemails during yoga classes. Impatient gym bros that either swarm the benches or machines for hours at a time. The gym bro culture is really out of control here. People filming themselves in the locker rooms and the gym floor. Abysmal parking situation during peak times.  The constant smell of weed in the locker rooms. No guest towels.  There's never a manager onsite. I'm not sure if this situation is representative of all the O2 signature clubs. I'd imagine it's not. However O2 is not delivering on the experience that is promised or that a membership is paying for. There's a reason why the review score for this location is so low on yelp and Google. This location is in dire need of help. Management is asleep at this location. (two stars for location alone -outside of that 1) read more

EVERYTIME I am there someone is either playing on their phone while just sitting on a machine or these two guys legit stood and talked for 20 minutes (I had time to do 3 other machines) and they never did one rep. I've trained in a few different O2 locations and overall I like the facilities and brand as a whole. The gyms usually have good equipment and friendly staff. This particular location feels smaller than their Cary and Greensboro locations, but I feel like they have the same amount of equipment if not more. It can get pretty busy during peak hours so keep that in mind if you plan to train here, you might end up having to wait for machines/racks. The things keeping them from being 5 stars: 1. If a machine breaks you can count on it being out for at least a few weeks 2. There have been a few times where the bathrooms have been disgusting and very unclean 3. At multiple locations I've had it happen where the morning shift worker didn't show up/was late and there was a crowd of people waiting outside until a trainer or someone with a key showed up. Overall takeaway: O2 fitness is a great facility, but there is for sure some room for improvement. read more

I love O2 in Durham especially Jose's Zumba Class and Bryan's Cycle class. I have a great relationship with the people in these classes that makes me want to come back each time they teach. Both instructors get the class involved to make you work out even harder. Who doesn't want to work out and have fun! We talk and look out for each other as if we've known each other all our lives. The commodore is unique and brings me back there each time. Even the front desk and manager are helpful if a problem arises. They certainly have helped me when needed. read more

Same equipment found at a planet fitness. So many "benefits" but they are all an upcharge on an already outrageous price point. Overvalued gym. A lot of equipment is old and when it breaks, management puts an "Out of Order" sign on it and just doesn't fix it. Everything is dirty and the bathrooms are a mess. I absolutely love this Signature O2 Fitness so much! I honestly wish this one is closer to me than the Brier Creek location. I usually visit this location on weekends so I can get all of my work out in without feeling under time pressure. Compared to other O2 Fitness locations, this one LOOKS different - It's beautiful. I love the murals on the outside of the building and the layout of the gym (2 stories with a separate cycling bar). I noticed a table by the check in desk with random goodies for the patrons - I've snatched couple deodorant sprays! I find more interesting and fun fitness classes at the Durham location than the Brier Creek one. With that and how beautiful the gym looks, I think it's worth my few extra minutes to come to this location for sure. This location has a lot of cardio machines as well as other workout machines. The weight area is small and can get crowded easily. But I also tend to work out in the fitness classrooms if there's no class going on. There's also an outdoor area where people can workout outside if you wish to. When the weather is pretty nice, I think that would be super plus for me to workout out there! :) read more

Been going to O2 for a year and was disappointed by several aspects. No towel service for a "signature gym". bathrooms were noticeably dirty, which is unacceptable. The sauna experience was also frustrating--there's no proper etiquette being enforced, with people frequently entering with their phones, disrupting what should be a relaxing environment. The equipment selection was lacking as well. Unlike other O2 Fitness locations in Wilmington, this gym does not have a Nordic machine, Jacobs ladder, or back extension machines (other than the Roman chair). Classes are SUPER repetitive. After spending several years at the Cole Park O2, in which I mostly used their aquatic center (pool, sauna, steam room), I finally gave up using the facility because it devolved into a disgusting hole. The aquatic center closed and the machines were marginal. I moved to Durham and looked forward to using the University Drive O2; however, after reading the reviews here, I do not plan to use the facility. Instead, I am now a member of the Morrisville Aquatics and Fitness Center, which is the best facility I've ever used, and it accepts SilverSneakers members. My keys, wallet, and car were stolen out of their women's locker room. In order to secure your belongings you have to use the lock provided by the gym. They took no steps in helping me to find the thief, and because of that the thief still has access to the entire gym. Keep your belongings close to you. The gym also has NO CAMERAS so God forbid anything happens to you... there will be no trace. I would suggest going to a safer gym. read more

I've been coming to this gym for over two years and have consistently watched it degrade over time. The following discrepancies have been in place for months- -The treadmills upstairs work but the belts skip so you can only walk on them, the rowing machine chain slips when pulling, none of the screens on the rowing-ski erg-assault bikes work at all. -The back plate on the GHR has snapped and no one knows when it will be fixed. -The sled posts are broke so you cannot pull them with the plates sliding off. -The outdoor area is completely bumpy with huge divots that hold water. This gym has SO MUCH potential going for it, especially with the outdoor area. It's slowly turning into a crappy/dirty 24 Hour Fitness vibe. As a "Signature" O2 gym, it's a dump and not worth the monthly membership. The ONLY thing it has going for it is the sauna and steam room. I feel bad for the manager because it's clear they are not getting support from district or upper leadership/management. I'm highly considering switching to Golds because their equipment actually works. The only thing keeping me is the sauna. Once Gold's Gym has their sauna running, I'm leaving O2. Better membership price, better equipment, cleaner gym. read more

Used to be a 4-5 star. It's quickly plummeting and I'm only still here out of habit these days and proximity. The quality is declining. Lockers are a mess. The locks are probably 95% broken and never repaired. They should honesty gut then and install ability for personal combination locks. The bathrooms are usually littered with Tp and paper towels. No one respects the gym equipment, so many times things are broken. An ever increasing cascade of gym bros super-setting machines with their co-dependent gym-bro gang. Near constant turnover of trainers (likely paid like shit). Would not be worth the new price they charge (was thankfully grandfathered in under the old price). TLDR: Overcrowded, Filthy, No upkeep, DISGUSTING bathrooms, Predatory billing practices. They will run you in circles if you try to cancel your membership. Incompetent staff and that was reiterated by one of the managers Michael Mitchell when I told him how the front desk tried to cancel my membership but proceeded to charge me $60/month for 6 months after my membership expired, he said that front desk always screws things up, like the other day someone was trying to fill out a cancellation form for a customer and he had to tell the employee to stop (which is messed up right? someone trying to help a customer and you stop them?). Terrible management. Most of the employees that work there are good though. This place started out good in early '22 but has gone downhill from there. The positive reviews on here are BS because the only good thing they do here is badger people to write 5 star reviews. Take a look at the lower reviews to get a better idea about this location. Not only does the gym suck, when I went to the front desk and asked them not to renew my 14-month membership and allow it to expire, management made some keystrokes at the front desk and told me I was good. Then they proceeded to charge me $60/month for 6 months. I had no way of knowing if they were charging me until I looked at my bank account because they never sent an email or anything else, they just pulled money out in the background. When I spoke to Michael Mitchell about the billing issue, I told him the background and how I went to the front desk and tried to cancel. Me: What should I have done? Honestly, this gym is not worth paying $74 a month. I signed a 2 year contract thinking that I was going to move to this location & ended up not moving & tried to get my contract cancelled. I have been paying monthly & HAVE NOT even went to this gym, I went one time to the brier creek location & have NOT went back.. I tried recently again to speak to someone to tell them The situation & they still won't cancel the contract. I think it's pretty sad that this gym will continue to take my money even though I won't be going to this gym & wont just help me to get out of the contract. This gym has been receiving my money monthly & I don't even go there & I can't get out of it until next year. I hate gyms like this & this is truly the reason why I usually stay away from any and all gyms. Thanks to O2 I literally will never join a gym again in the future. Been going to this location now for a couple months and I recommend it to everyone I discuss gym talk with! My only real complaint is the fact that they don't seem to care to change the temperature inside, which can be quite hindering when you're going hard at a workout. Even when it's 70 degrees outside humid, making inside the gym very hot and muggy, they don't turn the air on. :( read more

I'm so grateful to have this wonderful gym so close by. It hasn't disappointed (yet) in the variety of equipment, layout, and cleanliness. I know others have commented on the lax enforcement of masks, but I for one am grateful for the freedom to choose. I don't feel comfortable working out in a mask and I'm pleased to say no one has harassed me to put one on (also, yet). I stand by the notion that if you aren't comfortable working out in an environment where masks aren't enforced perhaps it's time to find another gym. If I had to make a "complaint" it would be the inside temperature. It's been unseasonably warm this winter in Durham and inside the gym it's also been pretty warm. read more

Machines break and stay broken for months, inside is always hot and super humid, and the bathrooms are 10x worse, always extremely overcrowded, and for the love of god do not sit yourself or your stuff on the floor--it is covered in hair and dirt constantly miss when this place first opened :( read more

Today as i pulled up there was no parking space and the gym is now always packed I left halfway through my workout because all the equipment was being used. Not to mention NO ONE wears a mask, and i caught covid here last month because of this. This gym is incredible. I have seen consistent cleaning by the cleaning staff along with staff walking around to ensure everyone is abiding by the policies in place. (Covid-19) As for the gym overall, it has every machine that you could possibly need and more. They even have equipment that CrossFit gyms used. Over the past few months I have been extremely disappointed by the state of the gym. Just today half of the lockers don't work, they are obviously not checked at the end of the night (There has been the same pair of socks and Texas hat in one of the unlocked lockers for the past week), both urinals were absolutely covered in dried pee, there are still half the amount of benches in the men's locker room than there used to be, the showers always smell like pee. There is always a broken machine, which takes forever to get fixed. Trainers are obviously more interested in flexing and staring at themselves in the mirror than paying attention to their client. Half of the paper towel dispensers around the gym are either broken or empty, or the spray bottle that is with them doesn't work. All this to say, I am very confused as to why I paid the money I did, if the gym exists in a state as it does. read more

Great staff, always greeting members as they walk in. They are really helpful, answered all of my questions about memberships and other questions. The facility is very spacious and there's plenty of squat racks and benches which come in handy when those busy days at the gym tend to hit!
