The beer was just OK. If you're an IPA fan, I'd look elsewhere. We went because it was close. The major reason why we won't be back anytime soon is the amount of kids, but I blame the parents. The kids were running around unsupervised while the parents drink. I almost got tripped up by kids running while carrying a flight. I have two kids, I would visit with them, but their butts would be in a seat so people can enjoy a date night. read more

Now this may have been 4 stars because this was an idea we had a long time coming. Finally, a great place in Andover to get a craft brew. So call it jealousy. Staff was great and the pretzels with the bacon sauce really hit the spot. Word is you can bring your own food but go not with food but great beer in mind and you will be truly satisfied. They currently have 8 beers on tap with taste for everyone. Our favorites were the Redspring Ale fondly named after the street Oak & Iron is located on and my favorite the Black Jack bourbon barrel aged porter. Go and enjoy you will not be disappointed. We have been coming here since they opened for starters. There have recently been issues with kids running around, like it's a McDonald's play place but they have done a really good job of limiting that. As for COVID-19, they are open inside and out now. They are really good about enforcing social distancing and sanity. read more

Be warned: do not go to this brewery unless you like small children running around, unsupervised by their oblivious parents. I was shocked that all the tables were overtaken by children on play dates.....is this an actual brewery? No, it is not. Tables of kids were set up playing a variety of games....snack boxes and large lunch boxes were strewn about while oblivious parents casually glanced over at them from time to time. My three girlfriends and I were sitting at one table and were literally pushed to the end by kids and parents who kept squeezing onto the bench without regard for any of the adult patrons. Additionally, the young girl behind the counter was extremely impatient and uninterested in explaining anything about what could have been some interesting beer selections. I realize that the establishment wants to market itself as "family-friendly" but they should just put a jungle gym in the middle of the brewery and call it a day. read more

Beer was decent and staff was nice. They try to get you and buy the "executive flight" which is a pour of each beer (9). We ordered it and then realized after the fact that they charge you per 4 ounce pour rather than pricing it together like a normal flight. $24 dollars later and a 2 pint equivalent for this flight. Awful expensive if u ask me. Make sure you ask for prices before ordering. read more

This place is cute! Good beer selection and the prices are fair. They let you bring in your own food and your dog!!! The staff is friendly and they always pet our dog and make him feel special. The mosquitoes can be rough in the summer at dusk, be warned! read more

I can't say enough about this place! From the owner Jim, a wonderfully hospitable person, to all of the bar staff, they make every trip here great. The beers speak for themselves! If you love craft beer, you have to come here and sample for yourselves. You won't be sorry. This is the perfect place to hang out after work for a few beers or a pit stop before a night out. It was perfectly fine except both times I went, this awful bagpiper played so loudly you couldn't talk.

Maybe not my style, but I've tried everything in all of the styles in many places and couldn't confidently say anything was good/not watery other than the stout. I think since there's nothing else in the area, people have lowered their expectations. This is the opinion of 4 people. read more

Love this spot!! Large and beautiful interior... exposed brick and wood. Nine beers on tap.. ales, IPAs, stouts and pilsners, so there is definitely something for everyone. Bartenders were very nice. They offer pretzels, cheese plates and hummus and you're allowed to bring your own food in! He pretzel was absolutely delicious and the bacon beer cheese was to die for! We had the best afternoon at Oak & Iron. We stumbled upon this brewery and went in for a drink. We tried a few flights and loved all the beers, especially the IPAs. Their pretzel dippers are also delicious. Would highly recommend this brewery- we'll definitely be back! read more

Great beer and great number of choices. You can do flights and full pint glasses. And if you really like a particular beer you can also grab a growler to take home. Pricing isn't horrible either. It's a cool venue itself too. A great place to spend your afternoon or start off your night. The bartenders are friendly, and the atmosphere is inviting. They also have board games inside. The outside is dog-friendly as well. There are 9 beers, all brewed on site. I'm personally a fan of the St. Arnold's 999, the Blackjack, and the Inky Depths. They also have growlers available so you can take your favorite beer home, and they have flights if you don't know what you want. The Oak and Iron doesn't serve much for food. There are only about four or five rotating appetizers, but you can bring your own food in. read more

This place was a great find with really good beer. Just thought it VERY weird that you had no idea how much each beer was going to cost. There were NO prices posted anywhere! And when you asked, they said they are posted on their website- which they are not. Snacks did have prices though. Only brewery that I have been to that refused to post prices anywhere. I've enjoyed every visit to Oak & Iron. I especially enjoy the Black Jack which they have had on tap every time I've gone. They are always looking to try new flavors and rumor has it they are aging a red ale in a rum barrel! They are still fairly new and get large sized crowds, but the service is quick and there is plenty of sitting and standing room. The owners take time to say hello to everyone in the room and help you select the beer they think you will most enjoy. I highly recommend this tasting room! read more

Awesome spot in a renovated mill near downtown Andover. Fantastic beers with a focus on local styles. We've been to their Octoberfest the past two years and it's an absolute blast. Happy first timer here! My husband and I were recommended Oak & Iron based on our love for craft beer and the close proximity of our home. I'm still amazed it's been over a year since I've heard of/discovered Oak & Iron..... Boy, have we been missing out! Totally bummed we left the pups at home for this adventure; I was excited to see several furry friends hanging around the packed seating area outside as we pulled in. The place was pretty busy when we arrived - not an empty seat in sight. Luckily just as we were ordering a high table opened up. Was overall pleased with the IPA flight I chose and the poutine snack. We loved that they had several small "munchable" items to choose from. I can agree with some of the reviews stating there is kids everywhere but wouldn't personally lower my rating based on it. All around impressed with the quality of service, drinks and food. Will definitely recommend and be back for future visits! read more

Came here for their first Oktoberfest and fell in love with their cute set up. Attention to detail is at an all time high with even their votive holders being decorated with dried hops!!! The beers are delicious and their Oktoberfest was yummy as well! My bf had their Zugspitze and declared it "very drinkable" which coming from him is high praise indeed. read more

We checked out Oak and Iron last night. We drove up from Medford and it was really easy to find - right off of Rt. 93. The brewery is located in an old mill building on a river, which is cool. We sat outside, on the river, at an umbrella table while kids played corn hole in the yard next to the patio. At the time we were there (4:30 - 7 p.m.) it definitely had a family vibe -- kids in carriers, a dog laying under a picnic table -- but as we were leaving, it was turning more into an adults hangout. So, it's kind of the best of all worlds. Oh, and the beer! It's really tasty. We started with a flight of all the beers they had on tap. They're all good, but I especially loved their St. Arnold's 999 Imperial IPA, while my husband enjoyed his Summah on the Rivah - a light, citrusy wheat beer. I definitely think the best part was just being at a relaxed place, filled with nice people, talking, playing board games, enjoying a beer and some company. We just don't do that enough. Please come to Medford, Oak and Iron! read more
