It's hard to believe this place has been open six years and we've only been recently. It's at the end of the Glen's main retail and restaurant area and it's a terrible location for traffic because nobody's really walking down there. The restaurant next-door changed hands at least three times so I always fear these places aren't going to make it. Anyway, all that being said, we were very pleased with our meal. Oak never ceases to amaze me. It reminds me of "Cheers". Everyone is great, but the food is insanely good! Saturday night my wife and I had dinner there. They had clam chowder as a special. I was shocked in the best way. The best clam chowder I have ever had, and that includes several restaurants in Boston and New England. Now let's get to the food and service. The staff here is very great. You've gotta love when the people who serve you have a smile on their face and make you feel welcomed. This place nails it! They have an epic list of beers and whiskeys to choose from - something for everyone. And if you just want a ginger ale - they've got that and coke products too. We started off with the appetizer of buffalo wings. They were cooked perfectly - had a crisp outside and juicy inside - with a nice glaze of buffalo sauce - very mild too - the ranch here also seems homemade, it's very good. For the entrees we each got a burger which is what they're known for here. We got the branded oak burger because of the meat blend it has and boy was the burger tasty. It did have a bacon jam type condiment on it that was a bit too sweet for my taste and I wasn't a fan of the Wisconsin cheese blend- just me, I prefer a slice. The other burger we got which was a crowd favorite at the table was the hangover burger. The egg and crispy onion straws bring this up an extra notch! Lastly, we dove into a Nashville hot chicken sandwich and when they say hot they aren't lying! It was good but I felt like it should be saucier but the Nashville hot was more in the breading. I came her for the first time recently and had a great experience at OAK at The Glen. Our group started with drinks, some mixed drinks, beers, and soft drinks. The prices were good in my opinion - I had a good Kolsch beer from Dovetail for $5, while a colleague ordered the highly prized Zombie Dust IPA from Muncie, Indiana. That was a couple bucks more but a good value. Our group ordered apps, including onion rings that were perfectly breaded and not greasy. Many had sandwiches and a plethora of other bar-food favorites. This place has nice warm wood paneling and it created a cozy effect. You felt nicely ensconced during your visit. I was craving a cheeseburger on a Friday night (how many of my weekend nights go, honestly), so we decided to come here for the first time. In one word, the food was average. I got the 3 Alarm burger with the grilled jalapeño peppers, pepper jack cheese, and crispy onions on it, and it wasn't too spicy. The patty was a bit dry. My favorite impossible burger locally. The patty must be hand formed as it's thicker than the standard one you buy in a package. Fresh lettuce and tasty bun. Great attentive service and the interior style is of an upscale bar. I recently dined here with my toddler boys and it was nothing short of perfect. The restaurant was very festive (decor) and the overall vibe to match it. I had made a reservation just earlier in the day and was fortunate to snag a table for 6:45 on a Friday night. We were seated promptly and provided booster seats for my boys along with crayons and paper to color on. The kids menu is quite broad but we stuck with their usual Mac and cheese and Tenders with fries. Kids meal comes with sodas or chocolate milk for a $2 up charge. I wish they had juice instead of the soda option. My boys really enjoyed their meal and that's always a win when they eat well. I personally ordered the Oak old fashion made with their Elijah Craig barrel pick and the higher proof made for an excellent drink. I totally recommend it. I also got their Friday fish and chips special which comes with coleslaw. They use haddock and it was perfectly cooked and not greasy. I was in London recently and this was better or equally good as some of the fish and chips I ate there. Our server was very attentive and overall staff very friendly. Arrival: Overall fine, took a few minutes for someone to be at the host desk, but the guy was pleasant and got us seated quickly for our reservation, and was quick to get us a high chair for our kid. Service: Waitress greeted us fairly quickly, asked us if we wanted any drinks, but didn't provide a drink menu until we realized we didn't have one, brought it a few minutes later. Took a while to come back to us to take our drink order. She was able to take our food order at the same time (20 mins into the reservation), and was accurate and put the order in quickly. I think she checked on us once after that, and my wife was smart enough to order another glass of wine, as the next time we were checked on was when we had finished the meal and were ready for the check. To be fair to the waitress, she seemed to be hustling, I think they were just understaffed during our visit, but doesn't change the experience. Drinks: Wine seemed like a small pour compared to other restaurants in the area, doubt it was 5oz, second was the same level so I guess they're consistent? Beer was served in what appeared to be a 12oz glass and filled a solid inch from the top. This is a spot with a $22 burger, so expecting a full pour. Food: Pretty good. Burger was cooked properly, decent bun, a little under sauced but that's fine, good bacon. Solid fries. Fish fry was good. Kids chicken tenders and mac and cheese were good. Food was a solid 4. We stopped in at Oak at The Glen to have dinner before a movie. The restaurant took over the space previously occupied by Ted's Montana Grill and the dining room looks much the same. The service was friendly and efficient. The menu offered many interesting options. The brussel sprout appetizer from the specials menu was good. I had the cheeseburger which was also good. It comes with cheese, bacon, lettuce, and tomato and of course a side of fries. We didn't try their bar drinks but they have an extensive offering. It was husband's birthday so we made reservations, but when we arrived, they had no record of the reservation. They still were able to find us a table at a highboy which I think was just a first come first serve area but we actually thought was the best seat in the house. I went up to Northbrook to take some newborn photos of my daughter and afterward we were famished. So as we headed home we stopped at Oak, located at The Glen shopping center in Glenview. When we were there it was an odd hour so was no one else was (which I was fine with because I'm still not super fond of eating in restaurants). We ordered the crispy Brussels sprouts for an appetizers and it was pretty good. I love Brussels sprouts just roasted but adding bacon always makes them extra delectable. I ordered the Blue Cheese Apple Bacon Burger which was really good. I am unsophisticated so I only eat burgers well done and they cooked it perfectly (you'd be surprised how often they come out not fully cooked). The bacon was delicious too, thick and again cooked through. The blue cheese was a mixture of blue and cream cheese which made it soft and creamy. Overall it was a good burger, though I could only eat half of it. It came with fries which were ok but not the best I've had. So the food was good, but the real star is the service. Our server, Joe, is maybe the friendliest server I've ever had in my life full stop. He is either truly one of the most upbeat people on earth or he is fantastic at being able to put on a good face. He seemed truly delighted in talking with us and helping us and made me believe his glee. He chatted with me and whilst I'm sure he was going for a bigger tip, I thought it was sweet when he said to my daughter that he hoped she changed the world, haha. It felt like just a natural extension of his cheerful persona. I'm pretty sure he even clapped once when we ordered something, maybe dessert. The Oak is an amazing restaurant located at the edge of the Glen. The food and service have been excellent whenever I visit. For appetizers, my family ordered the seared ahi tuna appetizer topped with salsa. The tuna was very light and fresh, and it is accompanied with a sauce that complements the flavor of the fish well. The Oak has a wide variety of food offerings, and they certainly have a specialty in their burgers. They provide plenty of burger options, and I recently ordered the 3 alarm burger which was smothered with grilled jalapeños. The burger was spicy and delicious; the side of tater tots was very crunchy as well. The Tennessee whisky brick chicken is, in my opinion, the best entree on the menu. The unique flavor combination and tender chicken can't be found anywhere else. The dish is slightly sweet from the citrus flavor and is served with a delicious side of coleslaw. The shrimp salad was great as well; the lemon oregano vinaigrette added a nice touch to the dish. The service here is really awesome. The waitress came by our table often to make sure everything was going well. The owner also makes his way around to speak with us whenever I stop by with my family. The Oak is a great family-owned restaurant in the Glen, and I will for sure keep on visiting whenever I'm in the mood for some awesome food. read more

The food that emerges from Oak's kitchen is stellar - freshly prepared and generously portioned. We've sampled several menu items over past visits. The jambalaya is the best I've tasted outside of 'Nawlins. It's also a place to enjoy a good craft beer. Sadly, though, the service here has been consistently less than stellar. This time, it descended to the sub-basement of any acceptable standard. When our party of 4 reminded Ms. Attitude (for the second time) to serve our soups and salads before the entrées came out, she was annoyed. We might as well have been talking to the wall because the runners brought everything at once. To add to our frustration, some items were missing or wrong, and the soups were barely lukewarm. One side salad $2.50 upcharge) arrived in a large bowl while another side salad (same $2.50 upcharge) was inexplicably one-third its size. When we told the runners what was missing or needed to be remade, they responded by shrugging their shoulders and walking away. When we pointed out the problems to our indifferent and unapologetic server, she just stood there gaping like a fish, so we asked to speak with the manager. Upon getting an earful from us, the manager summoned the owner. The owner was sincere and apologetic. He had the kitchen more-or-less straighten out our dinners (which took a while, but everything was very good), discounted the bill, and brought a comp dessert for our table to share. But then, we had to get Ms. Attitude to correct errors on the check. Though we're reticent to 'stiff' hardworking servers, we left what we felt was an appropriate tip ... nothing. read more

Excuse given was the "open kitchen"-- well then close it up and install proper ventilation. 2) the white fish was described as lightly breaded white fish sautéed in butter lemon sauce"-- what came out was deep fat fried fish so overcooked it was not really edible--you couldn't break through the hard crust without hammering away with the knife. Great experience there last night.  We were a party of 8 cousins who were there from 5-8 on a Wed night.  Our server, Sophia, was pleasant, knowledgeable, and attentive to just the right degree.  Even though we were there for 3 hours, we never felt rushed to place our orders or to move on.   All our meals were delicious.
