    Beer!

Meiers Tavern is a landmark business. You walk in, and it epitomizes the typical midwest tavern-bar. The decor is positively vintage. It's great. We had a couple of beers and ordered the Rubens with tater tots. The other way to go here is to order a burger. They are well known for their burgers. The fries were great, too. We will stop in for their Friday Fish Fry special. Service was very efficient and great. Oh- they are CASH ONLY, so bring some money with you.

A fun little 'neighborhood' bar. There is an old school feel to the bar, complete with artifacts from former breweries, beers and softball league trophies. Try the Reuben or Patty melt and enjoy a DAB on tap.

Definitely a neighborhood watering hole since 1933. Cash only with wondering if walls could talk what would they reveal. Friendly staff and pretty decent food! One star off for using styrofoam for plating.

I live close to this place and have driven by it for months telling myself "self, you need to try it out". Mission accomplished! I tried the thing everyone suggests, cheeseburger with tots. I ordered it medium, it came well done. That appears to be common among taverns. The cheeseburger is a basic cheeseburger. The tots, were basic tots. Seasoning isn't really the selling point on these, it is the cash price. Cash... they only accept cash. They have an ATM though. My meal sans drink cost 10.45 without tax. I mean, that is very good for a sit down place. The atmosphere of this place is exactly what you'd expect from a roadhouse tavern. Lots of wood, checkered table cloths, and the noise of a manual cash register in the background. The TVs over the huge bar are not too big, and this is a throwback in nostalgia to the 1960s. Hamms beers signs, Blatz sign at the front door, and DAB and Old Style on tap. The patrons are definitely locals and there are plenty (about 1/2 capacity on a Saturday at 2) This is an experience. If you are in the neighborhood, it is worth stopping and having a beer and a burger. I may need to come back on Friday for the fish fry.

We had cheeseburgers, shared onion rings and coleslaw and a couple beers. This was at 2 pm on Friday. The place was not busy. The burgers were not warm so they had been sitting too long to be taken out. Not good. There are better burgers out there. The onion rings were excellent and hot, really good. The beers, draft and craft were very good. One server for the whole place she was swamped and slow. Poor management.

Truly a sundown town type of bar. Terrible service. Mediocre food. Hard pass on my end.

Owner was friendly but sounded rushed when we were ordering. Definitely had to order quickly. The Spicy Gangster Burger had a serious punch of heat in the best way possible. The burger patty was super flavorful with a nice crisp on the outside while still staying juicy inside. The chicken tacos were delicious with a little kick to them -- my 14-year-old absolutely inhaled them. The carne asada fries were also really good and easily shareable. The steak was flavorful, tender, and loaded on top. Overall, everything we tried was packed with flavor and worth coming back for!

The gyro meat has a unique, delicious flavor that keeps me coming back, and the pita is exactly how it should be, soft with just the right amount of crisp. Their fries are consistently fresh, perfectly seasoned, and always served hot. What makes this place even more special is the service. You can tell the staff genuinely cares about the customer experience. On my most recent visit, Verda was exceptionally kind, patient, and welcoming to every person who walked through the door. I was especially touched by how warm and thoughtful she was with my sons. That level of genuine hospitality is becoming harder to find, and it made our meal even more enjoyable. Great food brings people in the first time, but outstanding service is what keeps them coming back. The Works delivers both. It's the kind of local business worth going out of your way to support. The staff was friendly and the place was clean; so, 3 out of 5 stars.

So ordered one recently and got a small burger on a bun w cheese no fried onions. Server had no idea why it was not the usually patty melt. She was not ... seemingly interested in checking. I ate it. It is my fault for not carefully reading the new menu. Why change a basic and commonly known item like a patty melt into a bland burger? BTW there are similar ones on the new menu -- "crispy onion burger, and big paddy melt", latter with an odd description, neither of which is a patty melt of yore. Food ok.

The location is great and the place has that homey supper club feel that everyone enjoys. I was really eager to come back. I came with the wife and 7 year old boy/girl twins. The little guy wasn't very hungry but loves his French fries. It's sad to say but the fries came and looked perfect. Then, after sampling one, it was hard like a rock and hard to chew. The little guy ate a few and said they were too hard to chew . The little girl got the Leprechaun cheeseburger and she liked it. It was just the right size. My wife got the Little Paddy Melt and I got the regular size one. She seemed to like the melt but said it was "too greasy." I liked mine but agreed that it was good but felt really greasy afterwards. Another thing that was nothing like I remember was the onion loaf. This one was overcooked and didn't have much taste. We had to put extra salt on it to make it passable. (Didn't this used to have a dipping sauce similar to a salad dressing or something? We weren't sure.) Anyway, we were hoping the experience would be better. The little guys did like the old arcade room. Too bad the coin slot didn't work for Donkey Kong. One of these days we will be back and I hope it can impress us like it used to in the old days.

My dad had an office and n Glenview when I was younger and this place was there and he had never heard of it. I guess if you were local or took the Metra, then you knew. I made a reservation as there were twelve of us coming in. We arrive for our monthly Burger Club with high hopes. It's a cute place. They have a nice outdoor deck area and the inside has a nice wooden bar with tables around it with two or three additional rooms of seating, too. We asked for separate checks, and our server told us it was no problem (it was). They have a lot of burgers to choose from so we thought that this would be a great place to go. I'll say this, our server was wonderful. Super nice, really friendly, always refilling drinks. Just a wonderful experience with her. And that's where it ends. My burger came our perfectly prepared (they ask what temperature you want and I wanted medium rare). The patties are insanely thin and toppings, while fresh, are overly abundant. Fresh lettuce, tasty pickles, etc. the burger had no flavor. No salt or pepper to season it or anything. And mine was the best of the group. Others received burgers that were overcooked, had the wrong buns, came with caramelized onions, but were raw -were sent back and came back raw again - and the sides were underwhelming. I don't like ketchup, so I asked for ranch and it was thick and had a funky flavor to it. Then bills came and they were all wrong. She had mixed up every bill. Thankfully most burgers cost the same, but drinks and some side upgrades don't. We will never go back here. I have no idea how they stay in business.

There's a whole halal menu I didn't get to try. I wanted something that was fast but not too fast so I settle on a burger. The bun was decent but the patties looked preformed and kinda bland. There's a whole leaf of lettuce ( iceberg lettuce) of course on top. The tomato slice was double the thickness of a nice slice you would get at any other place. I asked for grilled onions and got this 1/2 thick slice slightly charred whole onion piece like a piece of tree with all the rings.
