I only order fish & chips once in awhile but have to say this is by far the best I've ever had. Batter has herbs and spices in it which is something I've never seen before but it also wasn't greasy which was great. Tartar sauce had great flavour and despite not typically liking coleslaw this one was good. Fries were average but that's not what you come for. Service was great staff was very friendly and food was quite fast. Seating is outdoors and the view of Oak Bay Avenue is great at night. If coming in the winter make sure to bring a coat! read more

A favourite spot for burgers or chowder. It's not a restaurant- more of a takeout place. They have a few tables. There is zero atmosphere. My only complaint about eating in is that I wish they would wipe down tables. They're greasy and unappetizing. read more

OMG!! Not only is this the BEST fish and chip place in town - the big secret is that it's gluten free and night shade free! There were two pieces of crispy halibut and 8 deep fried oysters in our order...but we were too hungry to take a picture. Everything was cooked perfectly and well seasoned. I preordered and my order was ready on time with very friendly staff. There is limited seating and many of the tables were full when I went in. The service was very good. The tartare sauce , cocktail sauce, and aioli are gross tasting. The coleslaw is passable. The cod and chips was very strong tasting and way too much salt and possibly MSG. Get the oyster burger. It was delicious and an incredible bargain at $9.50: four plump perfectly cooked oysters on a super-fresh bun, perfect ratio of lettuce, sliced red onion, tomato and slather of tartar sauce. I love oyster po'boys and have eaten them all over North America. This one on a burger bun right up there. On my visit to Victoria, I also bought some local BC clams in the fresh seafood section. They cooked up sweet and tender and obviously very fresh. This is a good place. read more

As someone who used to live in Oak Bay and enjoyed everything that the neighbourhood had to offer I would highly recommend this restaurant for a quick lunch or dinner. What I love about Oak Bay seafood is that its good for both take out and dining in. Their halibut and chips or fries are excellent and the restaurant has a uniquely British feel to it. The bell that rings as soon as you open the door accompanied by the warm and welcoming nature of the staff makes this restaurant a true gem in Oak Bay. read more

This place and its supply location is disgusting. Went there to pick up some different items for a dinner party. The owner was filthy and working with the fish there was a dog running in the back and in the front office was dog hair everywhere. owner used his bare hands and didn't wash them before handling my fish for the order. Needless to say we didn't end up even using the fish it had a funny smell the next day when I pulled it from my fridge. I dont want to make my guests sick. Tossed 250.00 of fish in the garbage. Popcorn shrimp at oak bay seafood - lightly dusted really, not breaded. Gluten free too! And puts the wharf to shame :) Their fish and chips (also gf) is excellent - Certainly the best in the area. And 5 types of fish to choose from. Spot prawns in season, as part of their wide range of fresh fish for home preparation. Lovely staff, and comfortable eat in and patio. The delivery guy arrived with the chowder in a thermos bag and the dinners in a plastic bag, stone cold. we call the restaurant and left a message. then emailed a message. no response. the food was nasty cold but even hot it would have had little flavor. threw most of it out. have no idea why people like this place read more

It is a seafood store that also has a sit down cafe. You can order chowder and fish and chips. And they will cook a crab for you. Chips are hand cut. The radical red coleslaw has a weird taste to it. Lady said it was fennel cilantro, but to my taste buds it was a very different kind of fennel....an acquired taste. It has outdoor seating too. Casual interior. Tip: you can get the fish grilled for your fish and chips and get the full flavour without the fat. read more

Take your platinum card $$$$ for fresh/frozen local shellfish to take home. We purchased 1 cup hump shrimp (frozen), 7 scallops, small handful clams, 2 cans clam nectar, jambalaya package mix $5.99 ...totalling $60.00. . Unfortunately I didn't notice high prices until returned home: frozen" spot prawns were $28.00 for 1 cup, (or $70.56 per kg) ; and 7 scallops were $ 16.00. (Or $80.00 kg). While I always try to buy local...prices are ridiculous given we're so close to the ocean. Wouldn't go here again...rip off ESP for frozen hump shrimp...ouch! read more

The fish and chips are incredible. Big piece of halibut and delicious crispy fries. Tartar sauce is perfect and homemade (I think). Would be five stars except for the red cabbage coleslaw: way too much onion. Please change to a standard coleslaw recipe! Tried the take-out last week - halibut and chips. It was excellent - nice piece of fish, light and crisp batter (not greasy or doughy), tartar sauce tasty, fries good and even the coleslaw was delicious! Mum an I were a bit leery when reading that the batter was glutin free but we enjoy tempura so we went for it. We bought a salmon and a cod dinner a went off home to eat. The fish was very good, tender and flaky, particularly the salmon. The batter works well,not too thick,a bit chewy against the fish crunchy on the edges. The chips were excellent fresh made and a huge serving. We saved about half until the next day when I reheated them in a hot oven and made poutine. The only draw back was the coleslaw. All red cabbage chopped in a processer so it included the ribs,the very toughest type of cabbage. With the very acid dressing the effect was a tough pickle rather than a salad. Other wise we were pleased with the price the service and will go there again. read more
