Perfect amount of batter and crispness of the fish - best we've had in awhile and reminds me of the fish 'n chips I used to get in the UK. Glad we took the halibut option. Best fish and chips ever, I have been going since I was a teenager and it's just as good. Highly recommend!

The fish itself was tasty and seemed to be good portions. Even though the batter was crispy it was holding on to way too much grease/oil. My husband couldn't finish his dinner because of the grease and I have been trying to eat the remaining food in small portions so it's not wasted. The staff were very nice and friendly. If they could just find a way to prevent the batter from absorbing too much grease, then I think their food would be a contender for best in Victoria. read more

Stopped in and ordered the Oyster Burger and small fries.. So fresh, and the fixin's on the bun were perfect and complimentary to the oysters, and not overbearing, I mean I could really taste them!! Loved it! Great family atmosphere and the staff (I think it was one of the owners) was incredibly hospitable. When I walked in, the first thing I noticed was malt vinegar bottles on every table. That's when I knew it was gonna be great! They didn't disappoint. My wife and I shared the two piece halibut fish n chips. It was wonderful! Bradys has the best fish and chips in town, and the best coleslaw made daily! I recently tried their bacon cheese burger but made the mistake of ordering an extra patty, not knowing that they use homemade half pound patties! Omg a full pound but so delicious!! I went back for fish the following week and this time tried their salmon nuggets which are new I think, perhaps only if you eat in...? I got the large order for $11 and it was a full heaped plate, aprox 10 or 11 pieces, not small but 2-3" pieces literally an appetizer for 4 people! Approx equal to 2 full pieces of salmon but so moist and tastier than white fish. I'm usually not a salmon fan but battered and deep fried was quite different. I don't see how they can make a profit on it so try it while it lasts! I had it with a full side of coleslaw(not individual size) and had to take half the fish for later. I like to put my laundry in next door at Scrubbys laundromat, then grab a table here, service is fast so I order my food, then have time to sip my drink, and then go flip my laundry before my food arrives. Gives me 20-30 min to eat, long enough and it hardly feels like laundry day! read more

This is by far the best fish-and-chip shop in town - maybe in the world! I know people who travel here from England and praise this little shop. Pretty standard fare, with most people ordering the battered halibut with chips (be warned though, one order of chips will do two or three people) but they do have other seafood dishes available. Prices are a little less than the average. The ambiance may be a little plain for some people, but the staff are friendly and the food is fantastic. I just wish they had delivery :) read more

Brady's still has good fish and chips, just smaller portions . . . . Paul and I enjoyed one piece halibut and chips dinner ($10.70), paying extra for a side of coleslaw each. Freshly battered and fried with an English-style batter, not too thick, and nice crunch. Fresh fish, creamy coleslaw. And the meal still comes with a warm bun and butter beforehand. The fries were dry, fresh cut by look and taste, not greasy. Quite good. What's missing is that the fish portions are smaller than they used to be. What we miss is the thick, random cut halibut portions they used to serve. I guess that's why their prices are reasonable. We both agreed we could have eaten two pieces of fish . . . easily. I wasn't asked if I was eating in or taking out and they assumed i was leaving, got my meal set to go. They were being completely snobby n barely said one word to me, reheated my poutine, right before my eyes, IN THE MICROWAVE! Fries were overcooked! Not coming here again or recommending anyone do so! I have never had french fries that I was unable to eat until I went to Brady's. They were cooked over and over and just soaking in deep fat oil. All you could taste was the oil. Phoned to complain and the person who answered the phone phone was rude and condescending. I told him they have lost a customer and he could not care one bit. I will be telling ALL of my friends and family to stay away from that dump. Never again will i go to Brady's Fish and Oil Chips again. read more

I went there because the other review of this place on Yelp said it was amazing... I wouldn't be surprised if that person was friends of the owners of this place. For starters, the bright fluorescent lighting gives me the pip. Next off, I was hoping to get a beer with my meal, and they were out of everything except Budweiser (so of course I had water). My girlfriend got a small root beer, and we were surprised at how small their definition of small was.. See the picture. That was $1.50. They give you a complimentary 'bun' after you order, which is just a cheap bun that you get at the grocery store - the kind that comes in a big pack and you pull it apart from all the other buns it's attached to. The bun is warm but not toasted - probably microwaved. The food came in a reasonable time and tasted okay, though the tartar sauce was just Kraft and came in the little packages and was pretty bad. I wouldn't go to this place again, I'm sure there's a lot of better places in town, and it definitely doesn't deserve the 5 stars the other reviewer gave it. read more

September 14 2013 Bradys fish and chips on Burnside. Wow what a disappointment!!!! %90 batter. Where did you go wrong. Haven't been in for awhile.....what a SHOCK!!!! You used to be good. Tarter sause from a spoon sized plastic portion....SHAME on YOU!!! Remember the old saying...you tell two friends etc etc...you get it!!! I will say DO NOT waste your time on my this over priced batter and chips!! Both tables were sticky and unclean felt. When was the last time u dewaxed and cleaned your floors!!!! yuck!!!
