OK I have been going here 3 years. And have been mixed feelings the whole time. Well today was my last straw and I will be finding a new dentist. First off the place is nice, clean and the dentist assistance I had was amazing. Onto the problem. dr Lisa is my Dentist, if I had cavities she would fill them and then "go to deep" which then made me need a root canal, and most recently I went in last week she did her final exam (not finding anything of worry) only for me to find a growth in my mouth. I called to see if I can come in for someone to check it out seeing I was just there and got the "your mouth has no issues" I'm told that I need to pay for an exam fee, sure ok but that's kinda ridiculous seeing I was just there and was told I had no issues except I do? Why did she not tell me about this growth I have it's a hard lump on my gums. The receptionist argued with me on the phone- very rude, like other reviews have said. I understand if she had mentioned this growth before and I wanted to check on it to make sure it was going away but to get a "clean bill of health" only to find out I have an issue to me is a them problem and to make me pay to be seen again is not ok. After all this back and forth with my feelings on this place (specifically Dr Lisa) I will be looking for other dentist's for future visits read more

Be cautious of dental practices like Oak Leaf Dental. One red flag is the sudden change in your dental health status. Your new dentist might tell you everything looks fine on your first dental examination, but on your second, tell you you need multiple crowns and have a mouth full of cavities. This abrupt shift in diagnosis should raise concerns. Another red flag is your new dentist not retrieving your records and X-rays from your previous dental office. A cap fell off a tooth at home shortly after a cleaning at Oak Leaf Dental. The cap was not damaged and fitted when I slipped it back on, but the crown would need to be cemented on by the dentist. So, I scheduled an appointment with Oak Leaf Dental. The Dentist, Dr. Lisa Mayeda, had X-rays taken and later said, you guessed it, I need a new crown, which will likely cost me 500.00 dollars out of pocket. Dr. Mayeda wanted to use the cap that fell off as a temporary crown, but I made a polite stink of that idea and told her I would like the crown back to get a second opinion. So Dr. Mayeda decided to put the crown back on with hard cement. Also, the receptionist will give you a hard time, with an attitude, about your supplemental plan, and I have a very good one. She first told me they don't deal with CCPOA. Next, I must get all their information and bring it to them. For Christ's sake, the information is all online. All they had to do was sign up. There's a portal for Dentists. Nevertheless, why will they do that, folks? Because some supplemental plans want to see the dental records and X-rays before they approve costly dental procedures. But here's the kicker, folks. I received a call from the receptionist, Lori, on Christmas Eve 2024. She needed to reschedule my appointment for, you guessed it, another crown. When I asked her about my financial obligations for the upcoming crown procedure, she became insulting and eventually hung up on me for no apparent reason. So, I called back and canceled the appointment, and the rest of my family will do the same. I will never return to Oak Leaf Dental. It's all about money with them. I wouldn't trust that office again as far as I could throw the building. Finding a dental office you can trust nowadays is tough, but it is time to move on or suffer the consequences when they show their face. Go with your gut feeling, folks. Don't be fooled by their sweet Yelp reviews; they're likely from friends, family, and colleagues. I left Oak Leaf Dental about 10 years ago because the place gave me the creeps. I went back around a year ago and discovered nothing has changed since. If anything, they have gotten worse. My bad. read more

READ THIS BECAUSE DR. CIFOR IS AN AMAZING DENTIST. If I would not have had such a great experience with Dr. Cifor, my 5 star would def be more like 3 or maybe 4 at most. Patients can be tough to make happy, I know I'm one of them. I have severe gag reflex and have had in the past terrible experiences at dentists offices, so much so that my anxiety and blood pressure go through the roof. The inconvenience of having to stop multiple times because of my issue is stressful for everyone. In my case she simply listened, and assured me we would work together so that while getting a rear of mouth crown, there were no major issues. She sat the chair a little more upright which I'm sure was tough for her and a little valium really helped. Had zero reflex issues and quite frankly had zero pain, and I felt very comfortable because she simply cared. That is all I was looking for. So I want to say thank you to Dr. Cifor for all your help. I had been putting off that crown for about 5 years. BTW... I deleted a huge section of this review mainly covering the first and second time here. My experiences had caused me to lose hope and was searching for a new dental place. It was by luck Dr. Cifor had to chat with me during one of my past visits and knew almost right away that she had the correct attitude and tact to help me and I'm so glad she took the time. Everyone in this office is friendly and helpful. The hygienist, Alissa put me at ease and explained everything she was doing. They clean your teeth on the first visit which many dentists won't do. Dr. Cifor greeted me and thanked me for coming in. She explained what she saw on the X-rays and was going to watch a few things but didn't try to sell me on a bunch of work that I really may not need. They believe in getting to know you and your teeth first. Highly recommend! read more

I decided to give this establishment my service and initially it was relatively pleasant however as time proceeded I found the dentist at least my dentist was definitely in a rush, without a doubt, not taking her time and ultimately causing me significant pain I'm still dealing with. Additionally after my appointment while proceeding to my vehicle to leave I was stopped and informed that another customer a patient of theirs struck my vehicle and left. This establishment refused to assist me I simply wanted to speak with the person who hit my vehicle and I ultimately did with the help of the highway patrol. Thank you highway patrol l I really appreciate your help! This establishment I'm sure has some good dentists just not mine and for that reason I will tell people to not go here. It's cool in America you can for the most part say what you want! Again I was a patient here and have receipts to prove it and the intention of this is to let others know that my experience was terrible and I feel obligated to share it with others. Thank you Yelp!! And one last thing I do not recommend this dental office however 1 (one) Wunn lol of the sisters I believe from Russia is really cool and has a nice personality but not the other one. They're under new ownership and it's bad. Just walked out of a cleaning after getting poked in the gums repeatedly. I know it happens on accident, but five times in a row... I've had my teeth cleaned 60ish times so I know a bad one from a normal one. This was the worst. The new doc coming in trying to cover up the bad hygenist work by showing me the plaque on my teeth wasn't convincing. Scrape my teeth all you want, but you don't need to stick my gums then keep saying sorry. Comical that she didn't know how to use the camera and had to ask the doc, who didn't know either. I was a patient of Dr. Mayeda for almost 10 years and never had a problem until they moved and had new office personnel. It started off ok enough even though the office staff was not as friendly, slowly the billing started to change. I have very good insurance with a biggy back plan. In 8 years I never paid a dime out of pocket. Then suddenly we started having a lot of out of pocket charges. They told me they could no longer bill my biggy back plan. They told me my share of cost for a cleaning was over $70 which is preventive and covered at no charge 2x per year. Not to mention my insurance is an 80/20 (so 20% is $70) When I discussed this with the office they could not explain the change and advised me to contact my insurance myself. After several lengthy conversations with my insurance it turns out they are coding thing differently. Adding in unnecessary codes and using more expensive codes. Unbelievably shady practices to drain more money out of patients. My family and I will never be back. read more

TLDR: Wait for your insurance bill before paying your deductible. I've been a patient since before Dr Gontarski sold the practice. Before that, the service was great and I never had any problems. But since then, the service has been less than "meh". But why 2 stars? Billing problems. I called 4 times over a year, being patient, giving their billing lady (who works outside the office) plenty of time to send me a check. But they have the wrong address (even though I called and corrected the address twice). They even took my credit card by phone saying they'll process my refund and send me an email, but I received neither. 2 days later I emailed them receipts and was about to go into the office when they FINALLY emailed me the receipts showing I will be refunded... and then she calls to make sure I got the email saying she's surprised the email took so long.. Lady I know how gmail works. I went to this dentist because a friend recommended Dr Gontarski and he was great. I really regret having to warn people like this. Some people are really good at smiling in your face and being nice while they try to F you over on paper. I wonder how many more people never notice they were overcharged. read more

I have very sensitive teeth and it doesn't take much to make me flinch, but Dr. Mayeda is so gentle while remaining thorough so I never have a problem there. I even brought my 4 month old daughter and Ashley the front office clerk helped me care for her while getting services. I recently visited Dr. Mayeda for a cleaning and at a prior visit she discovered I needed a crown. I am getting a little older and my teeth are more difficult to keep in great condition, but Dr. Mayeda is exceptionally focused on helping me keep my teeth and gums healthy for the long term. Her timely and accurate diagnosis is a hallmark of good clinical dentistry. My crown prevented the loss of an important tooth. In the past I have been very squeamish when it come to having my teeth cleaned or examined. Dr. Mayeda as well as the hygienists always make me feel very comfortable when I am in the chair. I like how they tell me step by step what they are doing as they are doing it. Joan, who sits at the front desk is especially friendly and helpful to me in being flexible when I need to reschedule an appointment. I had been looking for a new Dentist for quite a while since I moved out to Fair Oaks. I read the one review on Yelp about Dr Mayeda and decided to make an appointment to see her. While her staff is very kind, I was not at all impressed with Dr Mayeda. While measuring my gums she pushed so hard that she caused me considerable pain. I had to ask her twice to stop and instead of being understanding she just said she had to do this in order to get accurate measurements on my gums. I was also told that I had at least 5 Cavities that needed attention. This immediately raised suspicions because I had my teeth cleaned a year ago and was given clean report. She also tried to tell me that I was not taking care of my Gums and it seemed to me that she was looking for ways to make as much money off me as possible. She quickly went from telling me I needed a filling to on one of my teeth to telling me that I might need a root canal and even possibly a crown. I do not have dental insurance nor do I have much money, but this does not seem to matter to Dr. Mayeda. The Oak Leaf Dental Office is Corporate operation and they do what ever they have to to get as much money out of there patients as possible. Today I received a letter from Dr, Mayeda telling to find another Dentist and list issues such as trust and mutual respect which I found to be laughable because she certainly didn't earn my respect by causing my pain and giving me an estimate of over $1700.00 to fill 5 cavities. I have since gotten a second opinion from another well respected Dentist that I trust and she told me that Dr. Mayeda's diagnosis was incorrect. When a Dentist makes a bad diagnosis and then charges you a whole of money to have the work done then that is totally dishonest and not someone I want to see. I strongly urge people to be aware that not every Dentist is on the level and make sure that you are getting an accurate Diagnosis before continuing as a patient. I strongly urge people to stay away from The Oak Leaf Dental Office. There one and only mission is to give you a false diagnosis and charge you as much they can to do the work.
